  1. I agree , probably his best all round performance for us, put in a shift, got stuck in, the Cruyff turn to get away from Alonso showed a lot of confidence as well.
  2. Worked well for a few aways last year, particularly Palace
  3. Would agree with that, need some fresh legs, Djenepo might be sore for a couple of days. Tempting to start Ings on the bench and bring him on 2nd half. Any news on expected number of weeks out for KWP? Leeds are a strange side, they'll definitely come at us, seem to attack relentlessly even when a few goals down. Hopefully Phillips is still out.
  4. He definitely drifts for large parts of the games I've seen, but 2 goals in 3 games is spot on. Give him the benefit of the doubt getting match sharpness back. Redmonds pass was superb but Minamino run and finish we're first class.
  5. Very pleased with the point, we need to grind out more results like that. Salisu and Djenepo excellent joint men of the match in my opinion. Ings disappointing, needs a rest on Tuesday have him on the bench. Vestergaaard unlucky to hit the woodwork.
  6. We've played Chelsea 13 times at St Mary's, won 1, drawn 2, lost 10 (including the last 5) , definitely a ground they like visiting. Chelsea to win Giroud to score anytime.
  7. I know what you mean, I thought we played well first half v Wolves, need to recreate that, I'm pinning my hopes on Chelsea having one eye on Champion's league away game to Athletico Madrid on Tuesday. Tough game for them. Our record against Chelsea at St Mary's is dreadful though, they've got to have a better win record down here than anyone.
  8. Referee: Anthony Taylor. Assistants: Simon Long, Adam Nunn. Fourth official: Simon Hooper. VAR: Stuart Attwell. Assistant VAR: Gary Beswick what's our history like with Anthony Taylor?
  9. Let's see what happens this weekend, but if we lose to Chelsea and Fulham win at home to Sheff Utd to close the gap to 7 points with 14 games to play you'd have to be extremely arrogant/ naive to say we're not part of the relegation battle. I can see Burnley and Brighton gaining points on us this weekend as well.
  10. I agree but didn't that coincide with Ings being out after bad injury at Villa as well as Bertrand, we lost momentum after that.
  11. Funny enough i looked that up , Sunderland in 2002/03 lost their last 15 matches in a row. Going to be hard to beat that record, but Ralph and the boys like a challenge.
  12. Yes that's frustrating, I was reading if Man City and Spurs make it to European semi finals they've hardly got any midweek slots available to rearrange games so doubt Saints will get much say in it, at least we'll get a blank weekend at end of April when we were due to play Man City. If we beat Bournemouth we'll need to rearrange Palace at home as well (semi final weekend) and the FA Cup final clashes with a league game this year. Perhaps we'll rest players for Man City away and just write it off. Any news on Diallo and KWP?
  13. Do they have VAR in those leagues as well?!
  14. You're right. Newcastle haven't won for ages have they.
  15. Bit of fun = we went out for a drink in a smart bar, then she went to the loo, climbed out the window and did a runner.
  16. I read (on here I think) that suspensions relating to yellows were competition specific, but suspensions for reds cover all games.
  17. Forster Could well come in and be just as poor, I think the point people are making is as he's been given a chance in other games and not let us down (4 clean sheets in 4) that he has earned the chance to have a run in the side. If it doesn't work out then so be it. Vestergaard was very good at times yesterday , especially his distribution but he was also at fault for Wolves 2nd not just McCarthy.
  18. Because if you know Saints you know things will pan out a certain way, I recall posting back in December before the Arsenal game that an Arsenal mate had bet me £10 that they would still finish above us despite 1) us going top of the league during that game and 2) Arsenal being just above the relegation zone at the time. I didn't accept the bet as I knew they'd end up catching us, didn't realise it would happen so quickly though.
  19. KWP injured. JWP and Romeu look knackered, Diallo still out. Step forward Alex Jankowitz, your time has come nipper. Back from suspension let's show the Premier League what you've got. When did we last beat Chelsea at St Mary's? I don't think they are that great and have a Champions league game v Athletico Madrid a few days later but our league form and bad run of referee decisions has left confidence low. Hope for a point to get us to 30.
  20. You'd like to think so. Newcastle will be looking over their shoulders as well with some key players injured. Will see how it goes, IF Fulham beat Burnley and Sheff Utd and we lose to Chelsea then come Saturday night we'll be 5 points clear of the drop (and most likely with a worse goal difference)
  21. Look at Fulhams next three games. Burnley Sheff Utd Crystal palace They're not a bad side, if they get to within 6 points of us by the time we play them will become massive. If we extend our record defeats run next week v Chelsea and if KWP is out for couple of months then we can start to get dragged into it. We'll probably be ok but the Amazon pundits were talking about us in relation to relegation in the context of our collapse in form.
  22. Agree with that, didn't have any impact on the game. Didn't get involved pressing or creating chances.
  23. Wigan never had the structure to last as a premier league club anyway, I don't think it was winning the cup that sent them to league one relegation zone.
  24. Mike Dean may have been stepped down but his spirit lives on strongly today.
  25. Definitely has similarities, I've mentioned this elsewhere , weird how last time we topped the league in 88 the shock was enough to send us spiralling down the table, history repeating itself. Difference this time we get a cup run. Our squad just can't hack this intensity of fixtures (physical) combined with such fragile mentalities. Where's the next league point coming from?
