I honestly can't remember a run of refereeing decisions like we've had in last 11 games. VAR was supposed to rule out inconsistencies but I can count several handball decisions that have not gone our way, yet Scott couldn't wait to give the Bertrand one. They are all a bunch of cnts they really are. Either way though that's a club record run of defeats to add to the 9-0 debacle, record points thrown away from leading positions, Ralph looked emotional post match, don't fancy our chances against Chelsea next week either.
-
Yes definitely, it's not like a one or two week bad spell, it's been two months, 1 win in 10 league games, we went top of the league temporarily when we took the lead at Arsenal, since then we've hardly scored (5 goals in 10) hardly got any points and are dropping down the table like a stone. Thank God the bottom three are so poor and we're still doing the business in the FA Cup, doesn't make the bad run seem so bad when adding cup results in. Hopefully we avoid more injuries and can get a good run going again. Ralph talked about importance of time on the training pitch, he'll be looking for a few weeks without midweek games as we've struggled with that.
-
At least if the game is dull tomorrow I now know where to do some online shopping. Early kick off on a Sunday, poor weather conditions, can't see it being a classic, will go for 1-1.
-
Makes complete sense to leave it as a credit , I'll be using mine towards semi final / final ticket for socially distanced Wembley allocation. There's a chance a couple of our May home games will have limited crowds as well.
-
It is a great draw, would have been brilliant 2000 of us going over there, whole end behind the goal. Hope Ralph isn't complacent, game will be just before a two week international break so no need to rest players. We currently don't have a fixture midweek beforehand, Bournemouth are due to play Swansea in a big game for their promotion hopes. Gives us a good chance. Ive seen us slip up so many times before. Ralph will love to lead us out at Wembley, make it happen Saints.
-
Yep that's a sequence of events I can get excited about. Beat Everton last min of extra time. Make it happen Ralph. Statue of JWP and Gao holding the trophy to be erected outside the Itchen stand.

They must be feeling a lot more confident after results of the last few weeks? Big boost for us to have KWP available, I'm not so keen on Salisu coming straight in, especially if it's going to be -5 Poor conditions need to be composed avoid making errors. Wolves Portuguese contingent might not fancy it. In recent times I can't recall many good performances up at Molineux , was the last win the 6-0? We've thrown away so many leads against them.

Got to disagree with that, we have two England International goalkeepers, both of them will have an eye on Euro 2020 (21) and World Cup 2022. Wise words from Mr Reed for you to consider. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/mccarthy-challenge-forster-southampton

Exactly and even he probably realises a few appearances off the bench will be enough to collect a league winners medal, or of course a league cup winners medal after City's annual victory in that comp. They might even pay a bit more, fingers crossed.

I was about to post exactly the same as this, even another semi final would be a big lift and a landmark moment for the history books. We'd need luck with the draw , but I remember giving up in 2018 when drawn away in the quarter final to "Wigan or Manchester City " , turned out we played league one Wigan was a cracking trip that. Slight chance fans could be back for the final , I'm sure all our season ticket holders could fit into half of Wembley socially distanced.

I agree Ings just doesn't seem the same player since his injury away at Villa, I was actually thinking yesterday he doesn't look that well, aged a bit, his longer hair greased back in the rain and facial hair he's starting to look like Mr Banks from Mary Poppins.
-
I don't take any pleasure in that prediction being right, but I watch (too much) football and have followed Saints for long enough to know what to expect. I even remember as a kid the last season we were top of the league and we got a bit excited in 1988/89, we still managed to go on a 20 match run without a win and nearly go down, funny old club. I still hold a little bit of hope we can do something in the FA Cup, but it's not looking likely.

In someways I think losing to 9 man Newcastle is more embarrassing than the United game on Tuesday. Players shouldn't be able to look each other in the eye after that. Hopefully Ralph asks Steve Bruce for some lessons in defending with reduced numbers after the game.
-
He's really pushing hard to get away from the story being losing to a 9-0 beaten injury ravaged team, painting the picture now that we have players back and it is in fact his side who have the injury crisis. I don't know enough about the players he's listed as out to know if they play regularly anyway, or what the replacements are like. Doubt they are scraping the barrel like we did at Old Trafford. What I do know is I've seen us suffer at the pace of Saint-Maximin, the long distance shots and shithousery or Shelvey and the brute force aerial presence of Carroll, Callum Wilson likes a goal against us as well, all of those players are available. We've got to be due a win up there, miss the days when we could always bank on a Le Tissier screamer every time we played the Geordies. Both sides on a poor run. Newcastle looked good away to Everton last weekend but haven't won at home for a while.

I agree with those who are bored of watching the games, I've got sky BT and Amazon as thought in lockdown it's something to watch at least but endless games behind closed doors with idiot commentators has even turned me off that. Others I know who don't have sky or BT have hardly watched any football at all in a year, those are the ones who must feel removed from it all. I don't feel the desire to be back in the stadium as such and not sure about season ticket next year, but really missing away days, would love to be getting to Kings Cross early Saturday, looking up at the departure board to see which platform the 8.30 Newcastle service is leaving from, few cans for the journey , bumping into a few faces you've not seen for a while, head over to the pub across the road on arrival, maybe even stay up and do the night out down the Quayside , would be magic, feels like a distant memory doing stuff like that.
-
Absolutely, terrible timing from a PR perspective. It's going to be interesting how this pans put over time, small sample but I know 3 season ticket holders in their late 60s / 70s who have renewed year after year out of habit, they were already disillusioned with regular kick off time changes and quite often missed midweek games, now they've not been to a game for 12 months and don't have sky to watch the games all 3 are much less interested and have definitely got out of the habit. More likely to take a refund than keep cash as a credit for next season. If clubs put prices up next season to plug a gap in the finances they could get a shock when it comes to ticket renewals.

There's a new Elephant in the room, relegation battle. Thank God the bottom 3 are so bad as we're going to be 17th pretty soon. Utterly mad to think we were top of the league so recently. Brighton winning at Anfield tonight. Funny old season.
-
Exactly the same as me, I watched it a few times and just could not understand how that goal was disallowed, final straw. BT commentators seemed happy with the decision (unlikely the penalty which Savage would not shut up about) Offside decisions like that must be switching more and more people off. Sad times, spontaneous goal celebrations a thing of the past. Wait for VAR review first.
-
We will 100% lose at Newcastle on Saturday I'm afraid mate, this squad is fucked mentally and physically. We'll stay up but will struggle to get to 40 points. Absolute fucking shambles from top down. Appalling mismanagement over a number of years.
-
I genuinely wish Mike Dean a very slow and painful death. Football is fucked, well and truly gone. VAR the last straw. Such a shame for a game many of us once loved. Ralph could well walk at the state of this. Probably just manage to stay up this season thanks to the dreadful bottom 3, but there's no enjoyment in this.

No, The premier league obviously dont want to split up the comedy duo who obviously work so well together. https://www.premierleague.com/news/2007398

And LEE MASON as 4th official. Premier league are trolling us aren't they. Just hope Ralph takes some laxative with him to slip in their pre match cups of tea.

Why are injury recovery facilities at Staplewood out of bounds?
JRM replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
They are all closed again at the moment though since going to tier 4, which is why I wonder if Saints have been too quick to close some facilities that they didn't have to. Can imagine a right jobsworth risk assessment completed by someone who looks like Mike Dean taping off half of Staplewood as out of use. More questions should be asked about this as our injury record and slow recoveries are costing the club big time. Players and staff get tested regularly , communal areas are cleaned thoroughly, get on and open up and get these players back asap, poor old Mo Salisu is probably down as he walks past the pool every day that he's not allowed to have a dip in it. -
I think I get what he means though, I've probably never felt more negative in the way modern football is going, or at least Premier league football. Before this lockdown I'd got into going to some non league football, pay on the day, no taking a knee political lecture, few hundred in the crowd watch two teams playing a proper match. Premier league football now just seems to be players protecting the ball and dropping to their knees at the slightest contact. Behind closed doors isn't helping, but I feel detached from it all. Watching Saints with my young kids it saddens me they've been conditioned to ask if the goal is allowed before celebrating, it's normal to them , no spontaneous celebration. I miss the away days out on the train sipping a few beers but can't say I'll be rushing back to games.
-
I agree, i think if they carry on with this more fans will gradually lose interest in the Premier league. It's complete nonsense drawing these lines across a pitch when they select a freeze frame that doesn't necessarily match the time the pass is made. The sky analysis "Did the ball skim his shorts before hitting his hand" , what the fck has happened to the game? Lucky for them fans are not in the ground to make their feelings heard. Maybe Saints playing in the championship away from this farce wouldn't be such a bad thing. Interesting PaddyPwer refunded all bets on a Saints win or draw, acknowledging the injustice.
