As others who were there have said it was a dreadful game, we struggled to do anything against a very poor hartlepool team. No atmosphere either, had a good trip with mates but the game was a waste of time.

Has this website sold its soul for 30 pieces of silver?
JRM replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
Turkish I do think you're getting a bit carried away mate, as much as it would be nice to have an event to honour Ted bates I think relying on an internet forum is the wrong thing to do. This website carries saints news and a message board, its not designed to be a collective fans organisation which organises and takes part in events, if it was your website you could do what you like, but you can't blame the owners of this for not wanting the hassle. Why don't you arrange a team containing people on here and put your name at the top as organiser cause I know I wouldn't want to do it. -
Does that mean if I am caused harrasment, alarm or distress while watching Eastenders one of the actors can be arrested?
-
I agree with you mate, as much as I love football its gone to far now and is so far removed from what football used to be from a fans perspective I just don't feel part of it anymore. I remember when saints went into admin sky sports news did a feature on fundraising and showed an old woman handing over £500! That would have paid Bradley wright Phillips for half a day, disgusting. AGAINST MODERN FOOTBALL.
-
He was rubbish for us from what I can remember but sounds like he is scoring a lot for Czech u21s so maybe he has improved!
-
surely the point here is that his offence did not take place at the venue, eg the person claiming to have been caused harrasment , alarm or distress was not there but watched it on the internet. therefore, some people on here could be arrested for causing harrasment , alarm or distress through their internet posts............ where do you draw the line?
-
What the f*ck?!! this is what football is coming to nowdays, and a sad indication of the country we live in, sounds like he has been arrested under section 5 public order act, through which they have to prove his actions, words / behaviour caused harrassment, alarm or distress to others. It is a hard one to defend, as how much alarm or distress caused can vary widely from individual to individual , this is a classic case of the old bill taking their powers to the extreme, giving him bail conditions restricting his liberty to watch a football match when he is yet to even be "found" guilty. Ironically, it seems only through the video being on youtube has this offence been commited, as clearly no one in the immediate area appears to be a victim of this "crime" what a joke this country is, at least when the cuts come into place the police with have to start prioritising on real crime surely?

if this is true, what are people waiting for? get down there and lets fill the ground with our own fans, serves them right for only giving us 1300 allocation.

The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC

Not true. Just ask the fans of man united and spurs, there's more to a club than results on the pitch -
The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC

good post. and i thnk you can add to that banning the echo for reporting about the new training ground. petty, vindictive decision making. -
and what does that tell you about Cortese's approach to season ticket holders, who are the most loyal supporters of the club. If he sees them as a cash cow to boost the income of his business model then it just adds as another reminder for me of how disenchanted I am with football these days. As fans we give more than just cash, we are the soul of the club and I think should be treated with more respect instead of mugs who'll just hand over money regardless.

Maybe i see this more as someone who works in finance, but there is a big difference to a DD and charging a payment to someones card. The club used to run a direct debit system, this takes money direct from account given and will bounce if insufficient funds or cancelled by the account holder. Last time for 09-10 season it was NOT a DD system, they just took card details and charged seperate payments to those cards. This allowed an additional factor for payments failing, cards expiring (or even being lost and people have new ones issued) if they count people like us in the "defualters" number then the figures are inaccurate rubbish. I am on the mailing list of other clubs having bought tickets through online sites before and I can assure you they all put more effort into selling season tickets and marketing than saints did last season. Fulham sent me tons of emails promoting parts of ground available, when on sale and what price, and they had just been in a European final. Saints on the other hand didn't seem to give a **** if anyone renewed, being one of the last clubs to announce prices, having no plan to support purchasing over time, and no effort to market season ticket sales to the fan base
-
I would like to make a point on the inaccurate reporting of this "cancelled direct debits" from last time. I purchased a season ticket, on the installment plan. They did NOT put me on a direct debit scheme. They instead chose to use the method of taking 6 seperate payments from MY CARD rather than directly debiting my ACCOUNT. I received a letter from the club saying I had defaulted and the season ticket would be cancelled, it was only when i called and spoke to Lee Hetherington that both parties realised they were trying to take a payment from a card that had expired, i gave him the details on my newly issued debit card which he amended on the system and took the neccessary payments. I thnk the opening post is correct to outline the fact that we, as Saints fans, do not get a very good deal compared to the prices offered by similar lower league clubs in the south east. Fingers crossed they get the pricing right and sell season tickets in a pro-active way. Last year was very worrying, no renewal forms, not even an email or post to existing season ticket holders inviting them to renew, just a brief announcement on the official site. Very very poor communication.

well said, we should be a proud club, with a proud history, and events like Sunday night was a great reminder of that, we as fans should never let that be forgotten, our father and grandfathers stood on the terraces of the Dell, watching the greats, this is what makes us the club we are, one of my favourite videos is the history of the saints which came out around 1990/91 this should be essential viewing for any young saints fan growing up today to make them realise that we're not just some league one club with big crowds but a club with a proud history of acheivement at the highest level.
-
It's a grand old team to play for its a grand old team to see and if you know your history it's enough to make your heart go wwooooooooooohhhh we dont care what cortese says oh what the hell do we care cause we only know that there's gonna be a show and southampton legends are here!! Sounds like it was a fantastic night on Sunday, wish I had made arrangements to come down from London for it. One of those rare nights and we probably wont get all those names back together again for a long while, if at all.

Exactly mate, I really used to like standing in block 42, went over the the Itchen North for a bit when that was open, but back in the Northam now and it really sank to a new low on saturday, the majority of songs that originate from the back of the block are completely sh*t, but the ones directed at block 43 were dreadful and completely weird. Why sing about saints fans who had only turned up and paid in the last day or so, for a game like Carlisle at home, what a bizarre thing to do, I turned around when they started singing sit down if your here each week and it looked f*cking embarrassing, I made the point to keep standing and as sour mash said above not many faces i recognise from away days there, and doubt i'll see many at Rochdale or Hartlepool.
-
I've had a season ticket 2/3rds of the way back in the northam and I'm planning on moving next season, there's hardly any atmosphere now anyway and the songs today reached a new low of cringeworthy rubbish. Constantly singing at block 43 that they are plastic fans is completely bizarre , and "sit down if you're here each week" was very embarrassing. Ironically I don't recognise many of these morons from away games. Pathetic.

If they still haven't sold out saints should do it for them and get busy buying tickets in the home end!!

The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC
JRM replied to lenwilkins's topic in The Saints
Nick was a loyal saints fan long before Cortese was here, and will remain a loyal saints fan long after cortese leaves. I do not know him, but i believe it is a very sad day for any football club to refuse to sell a ticket to someone who has spent so many years following our team just because he dares to question decisions made and it is a real shame other fans cannot see that. interestingly, i know who some of the posters are on here and the ones who are reflective and critical of the clubs treatment are also the ones who i know go regularly home and away. perhaps it means more to us to support a fellow fan who has been poorly treated by the club, rather than just look at "well if we get promoted who cares". -
If this game does end up going ahead it will be interesting to see if they are happy for saints fans to hang around in Plymouth after the game to watch the Wales v England match in pubs at 3pm??

The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC
JRM replied to lenwilkins's topic in The Saints
Spot on mate that is exactly how I feel, this Colin chap sounds like a strange jealous person bordering on obsessive, clearly spends to much time getting angry on the internet. Nick is saints through and through, seen him at loads of away games this season. -
ha yeah got to laugh. i would still be cautious booking trains for this with the legal case due in court next week , plus international call ups could get the game postponed anyway
-
Well i sent loads of emails to plymouth mate and the best they could come back with a few weeks ago was no decision had been made. Clearly they must be waiting to see if they are still in existence after next week at court. They called off their game with Brighton due to international call ups earlier in the season. http://www.football.co.uk/plymouth_argyle/brighton_v_plymouth_postponed_rss1164429.shtml In theory if Doble / Chamberlain and Schneiderlin were all called up we can request for it to be postponed as well.

My point was by the time you have got to some of the pubs being suggested you could almost be in peterborough.
