Yeah you're right, we have gone for block 3 about 10 rows from the back similar to the pompey game last season hopefully will be a good atmosphere all standing there again. Still blocks 1 & 2 are tiny, so if wont take much to fill up that corner

Called up for my tickets this morning, they said phones have been non-stop for last couple of days and selling well, would be a shame if a lot of regular fans didn't turn up for this one but thats up to them. Still availability in the Itchen North corner for anyone who wants a bit of atmosphere. They said the first batch of tickets for Exeter were also selling quickly, so anyone planning on doing that one shouldn't leave it too late to get your tickets, on the subject of pricing £17 for Exeter away £6 for kids, not too bad.

There is no way we will kick off the same time as England though which is currently set for 3pm so more likely we'll end up like bournemouth who have moved their kick off to lunchtime. A few have moved to the Friday, I just hope whatever they decide is announced with plenty of notice.

I have tried contacting Plymouth regarding this game and as yet have not been given a answer regarding moving the fixture which currently clashes with Wales v England in Cardiff the same day and kick off time. http://www.faw.org.uk/fixtures-events/fixtures It is only 10 weeks away so those of us who book the cheap advanced train deals could really do with confirmation before booking anything. I am hoping for the game to be switched to the Friday night and do a double header going from Plymouth to Cardiff on the saturday to do the England game. If anyone has contacts at Saints or Plymouth can you try and find out what the plan is for this game? We already have Charlton away on the Tuesday of that week. Friday, 25 March 2011 Brentford v Carlisle, 19:45 Bristol Rovers v Peterborough, 19:45 Hartlepool v Rochdale, 19:45 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturday, 26 March 2011 Bournemouth v Charlton, 13:00 Brighton v Swindon, 15:00 Colchester v Exeter, 15:00 Dag & Red v Sheff Wed, 15:00 Huddersfield v Notts County, 15:00 Leyton Orient v Yeovil, 15:00 MK Dons v Walsall, 15:00 Plymouth v Southampton, 15:00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Monday, 28 March 2011 Oldham v Tranmere, 19:45

For those of you not been there before here is a guide - http://www.footballgroundguide.com/tranmere_rovers/ We definitely are due a win there after last years disaster, and don't even mention the cup game.....

not sure how old you are mate, but would a few late 20s, early 30s lads look out of place ?? Do you have to be a student to get in? http://www.arenaclubbing.co.uk/exeter/event/48783/cheesey-tuesdays

Good stuff , can see myself on the celebration of the first goal, our support looks decent , good to see a few flags on display as well .

This isn't directed at you personally but for all those posters who seem to have an issue with the price how much more are you actually paying compared to a normal league? The cost of a pint or two? Definitely don't understand the mentality that watching on tv is a reasonable substitute, I can think of nothing worse and just imagine if saints pull off a remarkable upset and there you are. Slouched on the sofa at home watching the saints fans in the stands going mad in joyful scenes of celebration.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely despise united and hate their fans, having had a few run ins with the arrogant c&nts, especially recall the relegation season a few of them down by the station provocatively singing "we've come back to send you down" having already beaten us in the cup that year. United have benefited from years and years of European away games influencing their away support culture and anyone who has been to football in Greece / turkey / Italy / Germany etc can vouch for the passionate loud coordinated support. Uniteds core support still comes from Manchester and many of their songs are inspired from the brilliant Manchester music scene, giggs will tear you apart again for example taken from joy division. Lets not embarrass ourselves singing Liverpool again, a few good slow loud renditions of owts should do, and their weak spot for wind up songs in usa and Malcolm glazer.

Have a good journey up, hopefully it will be worth it !! Regardless of what kit we are wearing I recommend you wear a coat as its always freezing at oldham!! I plan to have a few of their balti pies to keep warm, hopefully celebrating a few saints goals will help as well.

I'm a saints fan through and through and would never support another club, but Turkish is right, uniteds away support is exceptional, loudest, most original songs that a lot of other clubs end up copying, all stand up at EVERY away game. I had a middle aged woman eating fairy cakes out of a tupperware box sitting next to me at dagenham for f&ck sake. Terrace culture has to a large extent died at saints, we have our good days but most of the time I cringe at our support and feel a sense of real disappointment that we have very few decent songs (that can be sung properly anyway)

There is some real ****** being posted on here about "united in the home end" - for a start we have no problem filling our own ground for big games, last season selling out for Exeter, MK Dons and Leeds at home. Last time we played United the only ones who went up when they scored were a few in the executive boxes. As long as season ticket holders buy up their own seats and the rest are sold to database who are also going to 2 unglamarous games (eg buying for charlton and carlisle at home at the same time) then I am confident it wont be a problem. Fingers crossed saints don't do anything silly with the ticket prices, no more that £30 should be the limit. the way we have played last few home games could be a top match which we can enjoy with no pressure. We still owe united for that relegation, so would be nice to turn them over again. Plus remember Leeds beat them last year as a league one club.

Good stuff, i reckon our support up there will be about 350 - 450, Oldham only had 3573 (inc 281 swindon) on saturday against Swindon, so probably wont be much atmosphere at this one. Got a feeling we will lose, nothing to do with having played in the cup on saturday or having United as a distraction, more due to this is exactly the sort of game we tend to slip up on and the players will have to be up to the fight, even at 2-0 at Dagenham we came close to throwing it away.

Good shout there mate. I had looked into the buses but this might be easier. Looking on Google maps it is a fairly straight forward walk, not sure if this link will work http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl 2 miles exactly, Haigh Lane, which turns into Chadderton Hall road, follow round to Burnley Lane, then at the Broadway roundabout turn onto Chadderton Way which leads down to the ground. 37 mins walk. 10 mins journey manchester victoria to Mills Hill , trains depart about every 15mins going out to Oldham in the evening, wont make the 10pm going back so will have to be the 11pm. Are you getting the train up?

Brilliant news. Le tissier for this generation.
-
Maybe not, but I wonder what wycombe fans were think in January 2001, only to find themselves 3 months later in the semi final at villa park.
-
good. don't expect to see you with an opinion on the actual match as it means NOTHING
-
saints lose games, just have we have done this season, reason being sometimes we are just not very good or up to the fight. chances are we would have lost them anyway. In my opnion the cup games were the highlight of the season and am VERY THANKFUL that we had them.
-
and as for Bucks Saints other comment, we have got to be the unluckiest team in the country, first our (now premier league) manager tried to ruin our season by "training the players too hard" (hahahaha), and now it is under threat by WINNING CUP MATCHES. God we have got to be due a change in fortune soon.
-
i knew you'd see the light in the end. good lad. Don't forget we can bring on 3 subs in each game, and make the odd change, like we did at Dagenham where the pitch was better suited to some players (eg Jaidi, Hammond), there are a few poitions where we have 2 players of similar standard, so making changes isn't neccessarily weakening the team. e i e i e i o, up the football league we go............ wembley, wembley, we're the famous southampton and we're going to wembley.............
-
i want us to give both games 100% why settle for less. The players can do it. Oldham have the same as us so have no real advantage for this fixture, which i agree will be very tough. I wouldnt be at all surprised if we lose, but thats not because of the cup, thats more to do with the fact i've seen us play appallingly badly away a few times already this season (none of which came after cup games) just remember past cup runs for the fun that can be had.
-
That's the spirit Bucks Saint!! after Oldham we have no mid-week games until February so good to see you are behind giving this game a good go.
-
players pick up injuries in training etc as well, stop panicing and enjoy the cup run. remember Dave Beasant dropped salad cream on his foot. He who dares Rodney.......
-
very true. we never will know, and i accept your arguement that it "could" have a negative effect but that is only a possibility. Blackpool could go out tomorrow and still slide down the table, being relegated and losing their chance of some cup glory. i'd rather go with the instinct, you only live once, stop worrying about what might happen and let's f*cking go for it and see what happens. Carpe Diem.
