  1. In iPhoto with Photo Stream turned on from the Settings menu. Same with iPad. It takes about 5secs to sync and appear across all devices.
  2. That's the thing though: the Notification Center (NC) ISN'T like anything you could have if Jailbroken - it's MUCH slicker. Entering apps direct from lockscreen or NC works well too. There's also a LOT of little tweaks in iOS5 that isn't written about: things like in Messages the keyboard used to hide the message thread, whereas now you can drag the messages down to hide the keyboard before you type. There's loads of these little things that just improve the iPhone experience even further. New apps are good too: Find Friends is ace for pre-arranged meet ups (or stalking!); Cards etc. iCloud and backup while charging is also well underrated and people who don't normally backup regularly will never have to worry about losing anything again. Photostream is also superb if you have other iOS/Lion devices.
  3. Do you people actually PLAY the game, or just ponce around with this pointless stuff?
  4. http://www.stephenfry.com/2011/10/06/steve-jobs/# Stephen Fry sums it all up really.
  5. It's largely ok off of Maunsell Way but, yes, your informant has a point. There is a pocket of social housing in and off of Peppercorn Way - in particular Terrier Close. You might strike lucky with having decent neighbours, but you might also have some very anti-social scumbags. It's a shame, as it's a nice area. You could try parking up there during a normal day to see how many women sit outside their houses on deckchairs in their vests; Or, on a Friday or Saturday night to check out the beer can drinkers and general loudness. Our private close has a stretch of social housing further along the road and whilst it's not constant noise, drunkenness and slobby behaviour, I would never knowingly buy a different house near social housing people.

    Fifa 12

It's a brilliant improvement. From the way the players move, to collisions and scrambles, to how you have to properly track and time tackles instead of just constantly holding down two buttons to press and tackle like I used to do on FIFA 11. The online Head To Head seasons and mini seasons against friends is a simple yet brilliant idea too, as is playing for your club - Saints aren't doing too bad at the moment, come on people!
  7. I think people have underestimated iOS5. Even just installing iOS5 on your old iPhone 4 or 3GS will make it seem like a new and improved device. I'm undecided whether I'll upgrade to the 4S or just miss it out like I did the 3GS. I'll probably miss it out and wait for iP5. However, anyone looking to upgrade a 3G/3GS/any other smartphone could do no better than the overall package of the 4S, iOS5, iCloud etc.
  8. It's actually not, if you look at the facts, features and ignore the gimme gimme gimme attitudes of everyone who wanted a new shiny iThing. 1. Form: The iPhone 4 is a beautiful looking thing; It's better looking than any other smartphone. 2. Speed. The 4S has a dual core processor and dual core graphics, making it up to 7 times faster than the already quick iPhone 4. 3. Speed. Download speeds of up to 14.4MB/s thanks to the new dual antennae. 4. Camera. 8mp camera, better lens for wider shots, better image processing, the lens also takes in 73% more light. And it's quick. 5. Siri. Voice activated AI. 6. Battery life improved. 7. iOS5. iCloud, Wi-Fi sync, iCards, iMessage, and everything else - keeps iOS way ahead of any other mobile operating system. 8. iPhone 5. There's clearly an iPhone 5 in development. I'm disappointed that it's not been released now, but there's enough in the 4S and iOS5 to keep people going and time to improve the iPhone 5 even further. Overall: disappointed I won't get my hands on a shiny new iP5, but the 4S looks good and I'm happy with the knowledge that when it is released (March'12?) it'll be worth the wait.
  9. You should have ****ed yourself instead of arguing. That would have both proved that you were indeed desperate for a **** and given him something to clean up.
  10. Samsung don't know what technology is in the new device and won't until after 4th Oct and then they get their hands on one when it goes on sell. They can't even TRY do anything until it's already been released!!! LOL
  11. Umm... because it's the 5th iPhone version and an official name won't be given by Apple until the launch? The iPhone 4S and keeping the same form factor as the iP4 is just one of many rumours doing the rounds. I'm still thinking it's a new style. If it's not then I can't see me upgrading, like I didn't from the 3G to the 3GS; not whilst the iPhone 4 will run the latest iOS5 version of firmware.
  12. Launch event 4th October, 6pm GMT. iOS 5 release date to be announced also. Sweet.
  13. Jeff, from what you say, you want a PERCOLATOR. Seriously, ignore everyone suggesting any pod machine: it's more expensive to buy the pods, you're limited to that company's range of coffee and any that produce latte, cappuccino or any with the milk already in are horrible sweet fake milk. The De Longhi machine that saintbletch recommends is an ideal starter machine for any budding barrista, but ask him why he does his milk in the microwave and not by using the steaming arm! It's a pain in the arse to use different frothing techniques as is required to make lattes different from cappuccinos etc. Also, if you want to make, say, 5 or 6 cups if you have a few friends/family round, to make proper crafted cups with proper froth, you'll be in the kitchen for ages and the first person will have drunk their cup before the last one is made! Also, whilst there are technical reasons for the water being forced through the coffee as opposed to dripped through: you're better off having it dripped through a blend you like than forced through blends that you don't! The coffee you describe you like is what you'll get from a percolator. It doesn't really matter what one you get, but get one with a built in filter as opposed to having to use filter papers (most are these days). The one I use also has a timer so that it can be set to start making a jug 5mins before my alarm goes off in the mornings, meaning one or two cups and enough to fill a flask to take out in the cab.
  14. Yes, just get a percolator and buy your own choice of coffee beans. We've been through all sorts of coffee machines from Senseo to Dolce Gusto, Krupps etc etc and still stick with the percolator. Unless you're going to spend £1000+ on a proper machine, learn some barrista skills and want to take 5-10mins crafting each cup, it's the best way. All of the machines that take pods, capsules or whatever are a waste of time and money and the novelty of them soon wears off when you realise how limited the choice of coffee is and how expensive the pods work out to be. If you get a percolator and also use Starbucks, get a Starbucks Card (you pre-load it with whatever amounts you want and use it like a pre-paid credit card and spend in any Starbucks store.) This gives other benefits like free WiFi, extra shots and syrups, £1 filter coffees (unlimited refills!), but the best thing is: Buy a packet of their coffee beans and you get a free crafted drink of your choice. Well worth it if you drink their coffee anyway. If you're as frugal as me, you'll quickly end up with a cupboard full of coffee beans at home and then only drink their £1 filters until your stock goes down! Buying beans and buying an electric grinder to grind at home keeps the coffee fresher: but Starbucks will grind the coffee and reseal the bag if you want.
  15. Unlikely. The annoying idiot woman behind us on Saturday screamed "20 MINUTES?" when Lallana was substituted, thinking that was how much injury time had been declared.
  16. Oops. meant to be in Tech section!
  17. I guess that's the problem with such a fragmented OS and carriers and handset makers doing their own thing. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/09/20/google_android_vulnerability_patching/
  18. Winchester.
  19. Did you READ my previous statement!? I made up a 'software issue' on the first one to get a replacement for my new and newly cracked iPhone. The second one 'may' have been a home button hardware fault, but could also have been an issue resulting from one of my Jailbreak tweets: I don't know. The bottom line is both were replaced on the spot without any need for an in-depth investigation into the problems. I can't think of any other company who would do this consistently, despite items being out of warranty like my second one and Baj's one were.
  20. Not at all. Within a month of the iPhone 4 release, I had a hairline crack on the glass back. I'm not sure how it happened, but I took it back to the Apple Store with a.n.other intermittent 'software-based' complaint and it was immediately replaced. Then, a few months ago my home button became 'temperamental' but it wasn't clear whether it was a hardware failure or connected to a Jailbreak software installation / tweak. Anyway, they replaced it immediately once again, despite it being out of its 12mth warranty period. Apple's aftercare is second to NONE.

    Dubai Phil

Will there ever be a thread on here that he doesn't comment on because he doesn't have an amazing story to tell about the subject matter because he can't squeeze world travel, golf or something else too lengthy and boring into it?
  22. Try not to have too many Flash porn websites and live cams open at the same time.
  23. How many, out of the 350+ drivers?
  24. I didn't say "Go out on the street and wait until Southampton-plated hackney carriage passes by, then flag it down." A pre-booked private hire vehicle can pick up and drop off in any area. Hackneys also effectively become PHVs when out of their licensing area: so by phoning (for instance) Radio Taxis (Southampton) Ltd on the above number, any Hackney or PHV that is dispatched is able to pick up that fare - whether it originates or ends in the Southampton City boundary or not.
  25. If you pay more than £12-14 (depending on which part of Totton it's to/from) each way then you're being mugged off. Radio Taxis, on the meter, no Boundary Charges: 02380 666666.
