Holiday 2011 - where are you all going.
AndyNorthernSaints replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Lounge
Yep looking forward to first ever train holiday through the Rockies. Mrs has friends in Vancouver and has worked there and i've heard very good things about the place. Have to do trip to Niagara falls while nearby in Toronto as well. -

In this country the principle applies that driving a vehicle on the public highway is a privilege, not a right. Consequently, drivers have a duty to show a certain level of responsibility and care towards other road users. Speed cameras target those who choose to flout these principles, those who wilfully endanger the lives of other people through their selfish behaviour. Breaking the speed limit is breaking the law. it doesn't make you clever or important. it makes you a criminal.

Anyone else been to Albania?

Barry Bannan on loan from Villa. Has a brief loan spell at Leeds last season. Or if fit Michael Johnson Man City might be good midfield options.

Don't like Manure but Gary Neville was a very good player and never let England down and has never been replaced in his position since IMO.

Tried a few bottles recently. Like Stella lager it gave me a headache. Tasted good though.

I was at the game. Father in law is a Motherwell fan and i go to Fir Park to watch the Steelmen a few times this season. Yesterdays game reminded me of 2003 when Strachan dropped Fernandes in order to play Baird and be more more defensive hoping not to get thrashed. Stuart McCall played left back Hammel in midfield with one striker Sutton left up front alone. Motherwell have some promising young players who didn't perform on the day. Celtic were not much better but a poor ref helping them. First visit to Hampden Park and was quite impressed despite having to walk miles after parking and no alcohol on sale inside the ground.

If i was a Pompey fan and wanted to relegate Saints that season this would have been my plan. I'd slag off players and drop club captin Dodd who is too experienced from previous relegation fights. I'd constantly tell the media the dressing room is down and out and there is nothing i can do even though Saints finished bottom when they were outside the relgation zone when he arrived. I would play Rory Delap at right back. Sign the non marking/defending left back/midfielder Olivier Bernard. I'd get Calum Davenport in on loan and play him alonside Jacobsoen(spelling). I would play Van Damme and Kenwynne Jones as wing backs in a vital away game at Birmingham. I would play some swedish winger Neilson wearing white boots. I would not feature Anders or Fernandes in games - too successfull/creative in Strachan/Sturrocks time. I would drop Kevin Phillips for the must win last game against Manure and play Ormerod for first game in a while. I would get Kevin Bond to work on the defence to ensure Saints conceded from so many set peices and late goals. I would ensure the fitness regime previously in place under Strachan was neglected so the team were unfit and likely to concede late goals. I would inspire Saints to lose the last game against a Manure side who didn't care and were there for ataking in an uninspired feeble effort to ensure Saints finished bottom and were relagated without a fight.

Bridge did it away running the length of pitch after scoring at Bolton many years ago in a rare win under Stuart Gray if i remember right.

With a view to permanent signing as stated when he signed. Adkins must have seen something he liked to get him in. Anyway lets see who's right..... apologies for giving him a chance/expressing opinion...etc
-
You are right in that there will be plenty of options of other players but i think he needs to be given a chance with a proper pre season with Saints then a run of games hopefully not disrupted by injury. I'm glad the club is getting promising young players from other clubs who have something to prove etc. Maybe this should be made a sticky so we can judge the player next season. Plenty of players written off after a few games by posters over the years who have gone onto prove themselves decent players. BTW think O'Hara is good enough for Premier league so not much chance of him playing for us next season.
-
Too early to write him off. Looked neat and tidy player able to pass well in games i saw him . Like others have said it was not an easy time to come in when we desperatly needed midfield cover. Think given a pre season with Saints he might prove a decent player next season.

Redknapp was the worst as he didn't give a toss about Saints.

Seve Ballesteros has passed away

RIP Seve. True sporting legend. Played golf shots no other player could ever play. -
Oliver Barnard not Lee.

Bit harsh IMO. Still remember those nightmare Lowe signings that no other club wanted when we were relegated from championship? Ryan Smth, Lee Molyneux, Antony Pulis etc or previous signings of Euell, Donkey Powell, Madsen, Neilson, Jackobson, Davenport, Barnard... thats just off the top of my head so plenty of others i would think. Richardson has been solid alot of games i have seen apart rom Tranmere when he and the whole team had a mare.

Just got back. What a long but great day. It's been emotional.
