"Affordable football" i'm afraid. most clubs will use the loan system effectively like Pearson did with getting in Lucketti, Perry and Wright for much needed experience to help keep us up. Burley used it well with Guthrie, Chaplow and Potter but not so with Hammill. You would think that the club would realise we have no experienced fullbacks and look to strengthen in those positions which will be vital this season.

Some us remember the 70's and 80's watching some great football by Saints. I'd hardly call Paine, Channon, Ball, Williams, Armstrong, Holmes, Dennis, Golac, McCalliog, Osgood, Worthington, Wallaces, Case, Moran etc kick and rush football. Saints played one touch football which was beautifull to watch and made us one of the most exciting teams to watch.

No to music after goals. Preferred the Skids original version of "the Saints are coming" myself.

Thomas looked very good early on especially in away win at Sheff Utd last season. Not sure it is wise to get rid of all the experiend players unless Saints are planning on letting in goals for every free kick/corner we conceed.

The selectors are going to have to drop the top order batsmen who apart from KP are not performing consistantly. I'd give Bopara, Shah and Key a chance and pick either Prior or Foster as wicket keeper.

Saints have always traditionally conceded late goals all the time apart from when Strachan got the players fit and had a solid defence able to concentrate for 90 minutes.

How do you know he doesn't want to play for us? Do you know him? have some evidence that he has asked to leave? do you know if the club is trying to get rid due to his wages possibly?

I think Doncaster will suprise a few people. They play good football and i was impressed when seeing them in the play offs last season.

Good to see 5 bowlers picked. Just need a keepr batsmen which i don't think Ambrose is. Top 5 batsmen need to score runs for a change. I think Jones will make the winter tour squads. He's taking wickets but is bowling against div 2 batsmen so difficult to judge if he's ready right now.

After experiencing their fans in Manchester earlier this year i'm glad they got knocked out. Think i might celebrate by going up to Glasgow and start ****ing over their cars, gardens and front doors.

I would say both Rasiak and John do deliver consistantly in this league going by their scoring records. I hope we keep at least one proven goal scorer in this league otherwise we will probably struggle over a long hard season with youngsters making their mark, injuries, suspensions and loss of form.

Seems a bit a of a risk to play Flintoff in all one dayers as well as having bowl the most overs in tests so soon after returning from injury.

The Observer has Nigel Pearson as Saints manager? The Sports editor is a Pompey fan. The nine clubs who's fan representatives predict Saints will go down are Barnsley, Birmingham, Coventry, Crystal Palace, Norwich, Plymouth, Sheff Wed, Watford and Wolves. I'm sure people can note their club websites and remind them of their predictions during the season when Saints beat them.
