Don't play youngsters in defence, simple really
AndyNorthernSaints replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
I would question your eyesight if you think the fullbacks are doing "not a bad job." I'm all for giving youth a chance but you need the right blend of youth and experience in a team and not playing 8 or 9 youngsters in the same team in this league. Personally i think Mills has potential from games i've seen but he lacks the physcial presence or positional know how at the moment and is getting exposed. James has not looked up to the job IMO in any position and teams are obviously targeting our weak points in the fullback positions. I don't understand why the club need to buy or loan more midfielders and at the same time go into a season without any recognised/experienced fullbacks in the aquad. -
McGoldrick self indulgence is our biggest problem.

Don't be silly. Why would you want to play him as a striker rather than stick to the tried and tested Saints policy of playing players out of position out wide. I expect he will play right back soon. -
I'd do better than our current fullbacks at the moment. Carr would be too expensive(wages) too experienced, too old and too good defensively in the fullback position for Saints. Expect another unknown midfielder to be signed on loan this week.

Ask Duncan Ferguson to move in :-)

As you probably know there are lots of types of dementia but from my experience these are often caused by a meningitis type infection or something similar or a stroke. My advice would be to ask for a proper diagnosis from a consultant. Also ask for a capacity test to be completed by a doctor or social worker. You can get advice from a IMCA( Independant Mental Capacity Advocate) in order to make a best interest decision regarding the future care and residence of your relative. They can give you good advice on what support/options you need to explore to support the person in making an informed decision regarding their future needs as someones mental capacity can change for the better or worse quickly.

When was the last time Saints signed a player who was a regular first teamer for their previous club? must be a while ago? Phillips and Niemi spring to mind but struggling to think of anyone else recently?

Bi-Polar Disorder -Saints Support Group
AndyNorthernSaints replied to saintbob40's topic in The Saints
I take it you don't know anyone with this condition? or the effects it has on them, their family and friends? otherwise you wouldn't be treating it as a laughing matter. -
Shame on you. You let the side down going shopping and it showed in the teams performance with the lack of alcohol influenced support :-)
-
Think you missed the start, 5 mins? when i spotted you walking up aisle. Should have gone to the Salutation pub. Decent beer and friendly locals to show us the way to ground.
-
A point at Cov! I hope we get 3 points. Stop moaning and being so negative :-)
-
Totally agree with you there. It's a long walk from the pub and you risk getting lost and arriving late like some people did on saturday :-)

Bit harsh on Killer considering the effort he's put in to return to play for Saints. It's a long hard season and Saints need all the experience available to survive in this league so i would'nt write him of just yet.

I thought he did ok. First half alot of long balls over the top caught the defence out but as the game went on Ollie seemed to get better. Still think we need proper fullbacks as against better opposition we will get punished.

Doncaster 0-2 Saints - Post Match Reaction
AndyNorthernSaints replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
Just got back from Donny. Good day out in Wethies and Salutation pub before the game. Thought Saints rode their luck and still looked dodgy in defence and had to rely on the excellent Davis once again. Lancashire played better after a nervous start but the fullbacks are still the weak link and will be punished by better teams than Donny. As with most games this season players seemd to tire after 70 minutes and started giving the ball away. Despite the woefull finishing and terrible final ball from the strikers when attacking often when a simple ball to a team mate would have put them clean through on goal, Saints ended up comfortable winners for a change. Cork (in midfield) had a decent game and Lallana impressed again. Man of match Super Kelvin Davis. -
Maybe Lowe will pick all our strikers in a crazy line up to confuse the opposition and score goals. Davis Cork, Wotton, Perry, Surman BWP, Lallana, Pekhart, McGoldick John, new loanie
-
I thought he played well in the last few games. Scored a vital late goal at Wolves and battled well at West Brom and in the last game against Sheff utd. I'd rather have him play right now if he was fit than James, McGoldrick, BWP or Wotton.
-
Scheiderlin and Gillett are injured. James has not proved he's good enough at this level in any postion. I will not even comment on Wotton.
-
Who?
-
Nail on head. I wish we had someone running the club who knew something about football :-(
-
James and Mills are not good ,strong enough or ready to play in the fullback positions. Saying that we don't appear to have anyone else? You need a big strong centre half to play alongside either Perry or Cork in this division to win headers as the majority of goals come from set plays.
-
Someone like Wotten then. From what i saw on tuesday there didn't seem to be alot of difference between the championship and div 2.

Dyer has started one game this season. Dyer was one of our best attacking players last season before injury. If Skacel is not allowed to play and Holmes is injured Saints have no wingers apart from unproven youngsters. Saints have 5 or 6 strikers now but only play one striker up front? Saints will play 2 strikers out of position in wide positions again tomorrow resulting in no width and no crosses into the box. Brighton can afford to get Ipswich's experienced left back Matt Richards on loan but Saints have no recognised fullbacks in the squad and no cover for central midfield.
