To be fair, Cortese kept silence for the most part it was MLT who kept it in the public forum. MLT was a great servant to the club and is a "legend", however that moniker does not give him carte blanche to say what he wants without being called on it. In his own way, NC is a club legend as he has steered us to where we are today from the point of no return. The progress we have made under his stewardship is nothing short of remarkable. That said, I think everyone recognises that he wasn't a particularly nice person if you got on the wrong side on him. He seemed to have a fragile ego and reacted in a heavy handed manner to every slight, imagined or otherwise. However I suspect the characteristics that made him act that way were also the same traits that were responsible for the drive and ambition he brought to the club. As they say a strength overplayed is also a weakness.

As I suspected - there is not going to be a rush for the door. All the players and employees want is stability and a clear plan forward. this is what KL needs to deliver and quickly. I have been in similar situations both as an employee and an owner - however bad it seems at the time, when you work through the issue, come out the other side and look back, you wonder what all the fuss was about and often you are pleasantly surprised by the final outcome.

The question is just how effective would Luke Shaw be if we had just put the mockers on a "dream" move to a top club and scuppered his chance to earn 3 or 4 times what he is getting here. Because he is so young it might create motivational issues. Unless a club is getting regular champions league football, season after season then it's just a feeder club to the elite teams. Even then there are no guarantees - just look at arsenal over the last few seasons
