  1. Having googled Mario Suarez I found this about a "mystery club" being in for him: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/452208/Arsenal-Transfer-News-Liverpool-Man-City-Mario-Suarez-Mata-Round-Up-Rumour-Gossip-Latest
  2. Yes - think we missed out on our destroyer target when Imbula went to Porto.
  3. Yes, there's a bit of everything... bar a proven goalscorer. I don't doubt our build up play will be great to watch, but fear we may still lack a cutting edge.
  4. So were Alan Ball, and Xavi. But Classie is 1" taller than Paul Scholes. Providing we don't become a team of midgets I'm not too worried about it as far as Classie is concerned, he'll bring a lot to the team.
  5. I don't see anything wrong in bringing a player in who might develop (or 'work in progress' as you describe it), providing the development is for our benefit. So, I'd be happy with Van Beek or Byram as players to develop if signed permanently, as Clyne was three years ago.
  6. Nice to see a trip almost to Mongolia is still a possibility. BTW, some excellent research and work Marsdinho, to be applauded by all forum users.
  7. I agree about the emphasis on Barcelona but if this does not appear likely to be availavble in 2017 then I suspect he might extend to 2018 as there is always a major managerial shuffle after the World Cup. You never know people might even be clamouring for him to weplace Woy, if he lasts that long (not that I expect RK to be interested in the job).
  8. Actually, its quite good to see that photograph of our owner chatting to a key player. If he does go to Man U I don't suppose the Glazers will tell him apart from a member of the groundstaff. Would be good if Morgan and others reflected on this, but of course they won't.
  9. He's the Curacaon (?) Paul Telfer perhaps. Or possibly the new Guly as a fans 'favourite' if he lives down to some fans expectations of him.
  10. Van Dijk is the obvious candidate. Unfortunately though Saints seldom sign the obvious one and will probably pluck someone from a team we've barely heard of (although probably not as obscure as Cuco Martina ).

..or Jonno Quick even #4 - no, its an opinion shared by most on here
  12. I'm surprised an agent would be happy for his player to become embroiled in this sort of mess, knowing the complications that may arise from future transfers as these deals are never straightforward.
  13. Just seen this : http://metro.co.uk/2015/06/28/morgan-schneiderlin-followed-on-twitter-by-manchester-united-club-photographer-5270335/
  14. Also linked with West Ham. http://metro.co.uk/2015/06/28/west-ham-set-to-secure-12m-transfer-of-juventus-angelo-ogbonna-5270154/
  15. But is the player obliged to sign and stay at the club at the end of the first year "loan" ?
  16. We need some more experienced players to help the progress of the younger ones. Put a MF of JWP, Reed inthe side week in/week out , it might rapidly destroy their confidence. May not be the fashionable view of the Saints model, but I remember seeing Alan Ball developing the youngsters around him. We can still 'develop' the young incomers, but probably better and quicker with some experience around them.

    Toby

We're probably waiting on the Toby issue to be resolved before starting that search. If he does go elsewhere, then no doubt the Van Dyke and Vlaar rumours will all start up again.
  18. Another right back now linked to Liverpool: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/587119/Liverpool-secure-second-defensive-transfer-impressive-U21-display
  19. By the very nature of the tournament, all sides competing are young, but the krauts routinely play a young team with a winning mentality which they then take into senior squads. By contrast we turn up with some massaged egos, give some spluttering performances with no real game plan, and fall short of the standard required, and take this attitude and acceptance of failure into the senior squad. So the wait goes on...

  21. It will now be quite amusing if England Women progress in their World Cup- although winning it may be too much to ask - just top show the blokes teams how it should be done.
  22. They've signed Joey ?
