  1. Delighted for Rickie Lambert, he deserved that glory after the work he has put in at Saints, and before that at Bristol Rovers. He has scored the winner for England, against Scotland at Wembley. A fantastic moment that can never be taken away from him even if Woy now selects his more fashionable players at RL's expense.
  2. This is a very important point, that is of course all too frequently overlooked. I am guilty of this too, but imagine the furore had we seen Scheiderlin, RL, Cork, or Shaw walk away in June or July.
  3. Got to say RL certainly looks in good shape. Contrast this with the 'bloated' version three seasons ago v Plmouth in L1 after pre-season under Pardew.
  4. We are unlikely to sign a better forward than Osvaldo. CB - Kouyate, or Sorenson, although the latter might not be experienced enough, and may be a 'one for the future' type signing. Or Alderweirald from Ajax. GK - we need another here to rival Boruc for the first team,(Saw a feature that a club - can't recall who- is preparing a £6m bid for Forster at Celtic. So, either him or McCarthy at Reading, perhaps NA would like to take a few of his trusted old guard in part exchange). Full backs - possibly cover required, but not as necessary as above.
  5. "Yeh, definitely...." [with an occasional, "yeh, definitely, you know..." thrown into the mix for good measure]
  6. Wonder how their squad managed a team photo with The Pope. Maybe someone with connections in the Italian FA , or The Vatican has close links with "Jim'll Fix It".
  7. some interesting names on this link: http://markewbie.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/list-of-names-connected-with-savile-case.html Old article, but some names I had not seen mentioned before, and some that seem wildly speculative

  9. No, Panda, I'm not panicking at all. Too many other things to think about to 'panic' over this. Just surprised that we still have Hooiveld & Fox being touted for a starting place after so many times we have seen their limitations in the Prem.
  10. First post on this thread :
  11. Wasn't there an earlier story circulating - probably on this thread - that he got wind of an effort by his club, or telephone call/e-mail or whatever, to direct him towards us ?
  12. But this was the case over a month ago, just that no f^cker wants to realise it !
  13. The last two pages from first sight of the board.
  14. Had all summer to address this, but here we are. Incredible, that five days before the start of the season and we are talking of a back four permutation involving Hooiveld, Fonte (although I rate him as a cut above the others mentioned here) and Fox. Worryingly, I don't rate Yoshida as much better either. An injury to an 18 year old with less than 30 league games to his name, and its panic stations.
  15. We won't be pushed around by North London yobbos will we Rupert ?
  16. Mod's can you sort this out please ? Adverts are an irritation. As Sarnia says above ! 'Pleased' its not just me having problems, subscription paid but still without full facilities. Guess what, here is a thread I started 12 months ago: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?39289-FAO-Admin-Team
  17. When will the penny finally drop, he does not want to come to Saints, and IF he did so he would be here against his own initial wishes... do we really want someone here in these circumstances ?
  18. Yes, reading on Wikipedia about him and it includes this comment attributed to Jose Mourinho after the player was on loan at Inter: Yep, we sure pick them, but it seems we have been seeking a loose cannon all along, what with Osvaldo, Cardoza (didn't he have a mega strop at Benfica ?), and Naingollan linked ( bloke who looks like Nigel Quashie and has a Mohican - must be unbalanced).
  19. Cheltenham Town away (for selfish reasons). Or Swindon.
  20. Yes, but not if the player does not really want to be here. I don't see the merit in signing a player who comes here begrudgingly if forced out of Roma, or as a last resort .Or if he has a rape charge hanging over him.
  21. As an away kit, why not ?
  22. Irrespective of how we compared, there were far too many games last season where we dominated possession for long periods, but created little, and spurned what chances we did create to then fall behind, or be thankful for a draw. Spurs, Sunderland away are the more recent examples, before that Swansea (home and away),Norwich (a), and Everton (h) spring to mind. Even Wigan (a) where we lambast our defence for conceding so late, could have been put to rest had we taken chances created in a second half onslaught.
  23. Don't doubt what you say, but it does seem a recurring theme from last season.
  24. Vossen was a much rumoured player twelve/eighteen months ago, and previously linked with Everton & Fulham. He does appear to have fallen out of sight, and even media speculation with other clubs.Don't know why, possibly realisation that Belgium have a few more - better - players at their disposal. My recollection was that he was a goalscorer, possibly in the Sharp/Hooper mould. If so, then it seems we have adjusted our targets for a stronger, more mobile update ie a younger RL, than just a good finisher but who might go missing or not be involved in the build up .
  25. Just thought I'd share this local snippet from Glos. Rory Decrap scored the equaliser for Burton v Cheltenham today. Jug eared c^nt !
