I’m looking forward to those. How soon on the horizon do you see them ?
-
Move away from some of the old guard, but I can understand him wanting to maintain a nucleus and team spirit. The trouble is that the players from last season (KWP and Downes aside) are not up to it, compared to the nucleus from the Adkins promotion ( Fonte, Lambert, Schneiderlin) although even then some of the Championship squad were soon ditched.
-
Are we really pinning our hopes on him ? If he can’t play then perhaps we should just fast track Stewart to take over the manager’s duties.
-
Wonder when the penny dropped for the knobhead to reach that conclusion.
-
Think the club need to dig a bit deeper on this one. Not holding my breath

I did see that post, and it was an interesting read, thanks. The list doesn’t reflect their tendency for injury though which seems the main question mark over Bijlow. (as you say, clearly isn’t designed to address how feeble we are in attack). A week of the window left. But if they haven’t done it over the last two months then clearly expecting a lot for things to change in next seven days.

Think we’ve known this all summer. What’s their answer? Signing BBD and Archer, the saviours of Sheffield Utd last season, expecting them to deliver for us. At the cost BBD didn’t seem a bad option, although he seems to limit himself by being wedded to the left side too much. Archer may have some pace, but he doesn’t have the height and presence we need (in my view).

Same against Newcastle last week.

The player probably best suited to getting into the box from midfield is the one we're looking to offload.
-
From the article Please, please, prioritise one who can use his hands and keep the fucking ball out of the net.
-
Where have we said that before ? ( just off the top of my head: David Connolly, Delgado, Stewart for recent times, and Charlie George if you go back to the 70’s).
-
I didn’t see Ramsdale coming here, although more due to £ than style of play.
-
In fairness I think Bree could play RB or LB if needed. But agree re Edwards ( and Wood for that matter).
-
Makes it a pretty bizarre transfer in my book.
-
Might be too late for us to benefit and bring anyone in this window. A few funds for January perhaps. Can’t see anyone paying for Sulemana though, a loan at best.
-
Not necessarily. If he’s been subject to speculation and involved in discussions then they’d say he hasn’t been focussed and his head is elsewhere. What he chooses to do remains to be seen. I’m inclined to agree witn you though, which is a shame as he offers something when called upon, not least a bit of energy and willingness to have a shot from outside the box. The others just want to pass it sideways.
-
Hope he doesn’t play at Cardiff. Don’t want him injured before Brentford
-
Fair point.
-
Another MF player isn’t he ? Perhaps we’re going ‘George Burley’ and stockpiling them. But he would bring some experience from the little I’ve read about him.
-
So that could be us and Ipswich looking for a new CF. Wonder who’ll be more likely to identify their target and complete a deal first …
-
Why, due to a medical ? Probably pass ours though. Not that I’m pushing for us to sign him.
-
As long as it doesn’t sound like one.
-
The £ on Archer and Fernandes would probably have been enough for a deal on O’Riley if he was a main target. Again, we put too much emphasis on buying potential, rather than the here and now. As you say, we can only hope Fernandes delivers quickly, a tall order for a young player in a new country. But even if he creates chances we’re still lacking someone (with a record) to finish them.
-
With us looking to eek out a limited budget it makes the £15m on Archer the more surprising. Miovski went for £4.5m , at that level probably worth the risk. £15m on a player with Archer’s record is a greater risk. Shame about Clarke, as that looked affordable.

This has to be the aim, to build up to that level of transfer. I think they’ve signed four players for in excess of £30m this summer. Credit how they’ve got there remembering they were at the Withdean when we played them in L1. As HarvSFC refers to we can hope we increase our transfer levels over a season or so. But one things for sure we won’t if we continue to buy sacks of shit that we then struggle to offload (and break even on).
