  1. They’ve now lost Ken. Watch the new chump lose as many listeners as Ball has. The bloke on in the afternoon is even worse than Steve Wright, which I thought was pretty much impossible. How to fuck up a decent radio station.
  2. The Byrds are really under appreciated in this country, really talented band. WhIlst CSN & CSNY relied on Stephen Still’s brilliance with Young adding the much needed grit to the mix, Croz’s vocal and harmonies were an important part of the mix. The first CSN album & Déjà Vu are still played regularly in the Duck house. A summers day, the first few bars of Suite Judy Blue Eyes or Carry on kick in, fantastic…. Iconic figure, really lived the lifestyle as well as singing about it. He’s also been humble and entertaining on Twitter the past few years. Surprised he made it to 60, let alone 80….RIP
  3. The BoE does operate autonomously. It sets rates which influence government policy, not vice versa. The Monetary Policy Committee sets interest rates based on the remit letter sent by the chancellor . Monetary policy is set by the bank (owned by the Government) in direct response to a remit set by the Government. If the Government changed the remit, interest rates would change.
  4. They have decent mixed systems in many European countries. Why on Earth are we incapable of doing so in England? BoE is owned by the Government. The Government appoint all its senior policymakers & Parliament sets its goals and responsibilities. It what way has the BoE been taken out of politics? It’s like trying to claim the US Supreme Court is apolitical.
  5. The only way you’ll get politics out of the NHS is to privatise it. if there’s tax payers money involved, there’s politics in it. Thinking the opposition won’t blame the government for poor service or governments take the credit for great service, is for the birds. There’s also the accountability question, who is a accountable for poor service, an unelected quango? If you don’t like the way the NHS is being run, vote the Government out. Don’t like the service your private company offers, move to another one. How do the public show their displeasure at the unelected independent quango’s running of the NHS. I presume they’ll pressure the Government to remove/change them. Hey presto, politics is back in it. The only way it’ll work is mixture of private and public provision. The NHS offers a basic service, with people paying for additional services. We should encourage more people to go private.
  6. He’s got a bit of class about him, nice little player. But we’ve got enough of those, I rate him but we need some meat not mince.
  7. Anyone who wants to put more money in the NHS without fundamental reform needs to give their head a wobble.
  8. Tamesaint. The public want other people to pay more tax for better services.
  9. WTF is this pony? Wanking material for Billy Beane wannabes. Fuck me, we made do with the tennis bird scratching her arse.
  10. Dear God. “Non ballers”, what sort of pony is that. It’s goals like this being disallowed that led to the rule changes.
  11. No he didn’t, which is the exact point I was making. Had he stated the season as he played the last 2 games, he probably would have done seeing as Southgate doesn’t appear to rate Madison As for people trying to make out he’d have played the same position for Ralph given the same player’s available, I’m calling pony. He never played as far forward even when everyone was fit. Hence the title of this thread. Looks like dear old Ralph missed a trick and the cult are rewriting their bible.
  12. He’s got tremendous ability but Klopp ain’t great for him. He needed drilling over and over, he needed coaching as a full back, ironing out his weaknesses. If he couldn’t be taught he then needed turning into a midfielder, coached and encouraged in that role. It’s called management & coaching, as opposed to accepting his weakness to concentrate on his strengths. It’s probably too late now because he’s behaviours are imbedded. I’d bet my life if the Jose of a decade ago got hold of him, he’d be able to defend ok.
  13. Slow down? You need to start putting it about mate… https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-11438493/Having-SEX-help-ease-agony-gout-say-experts.html
  14. If Jones had come in earlier he’d probably have made the World Cup squad.
  15. He has had some absolute stinkers the past year, so that’s pony for a start.
  16. Anyone who doesn’t think he’s been pony prior to the World Cup is a moron who doesn’t know anything about football. We’re not “lucky” to have him, anymore than we were lucky to have OR, Steve Davis or Danny Ings. It’s such a noddy attitude, He’s played a couple of good games under Jonsey & all of a sudden he’s up there with Matt. There’s a reason Lallana, Mane, Morgan, Big Vic, Shaw, VvD moved on and he didn’t, and it’s nothing to do with loyalty. At the moment he wouldn’t get in our best side of the past 10 years, let alone the past 40. Talk about getting carried away. He needs to maintain this level a bit longer than 3 games before objective people will start gushing over him.
  17. Fuck me, some of you falling off the wagon & I’m climbing aboard. Unfortunately I’m facing a spell on the sidelines, Doc has prescribed blood thinners for 6 weeks to clear a blood clot. Says 2 units max a day and no heavy sessions. Might have to try out some of the 0% shite recommend on here……
  18. He’s a class above Adams & Armstrong, but the hipsters will prefer Carlos Kick-a-ball.
  19. He’s not the second best SFC player the past 40 years.
  20. I’m reading a lot of old pony about interfering with play since that goal. You used to get perfectly good goals disallowed because somebody was offside by the corner flag, I don’t think anybody wants to go back to that. Imagine if Prowse free kick yesterday was disallowed because KWP was stood off side at the far edge of the area outside of the keepers eyeline. Nobody on here would be quoting Shanks or Cloughie. The issue is that football (as in players, managers, pundits) have pushed for consistency. The drive for less and less subjective decisions has led to complicated wording and rules around what used to be the referee’s opinion (handball is another one). The rule should be very simple “ if in the opinion of the referee the player is interfering, he’s offside. The problem is referees will have different opinions and managers will start whining about one goal given one week, and one disallowed the following week.
  21. The Tommy Doc way. When appointed, he told the chairman of Rotherham “I’ll get you out of this league”. After relegation the chairman said to him “You’re man of your word Tommy, I’ll give you that”.
  22. Most of it this century. It makes me laugh when you’ve got Oliver Holt, Henry Winter and other twats constantly running them down the past few years. No stability, sack managers too early etc etc. they’re up with city as the most successful club this century.
  23. It was meant to be Claude & Brady but Claude is ill
  24. As another Jones in traveller who also received a load of clog, I agree with every word. Some people clearly jumped the shark when we had a non league manager stating; he’s out of his depth, Lyanco wouldn’t get in the Havant side, and bizarrely that a bloke who hasn’t played since, faked his injury. Posters lapped it up.
