What’s he supposed to say, “we’re shit”. You’d be the first to start moaning if he throw the players under a bus like Redknapp did. You’re the one who is delusional if you think telling interviewers how poor we are will get the best out of the players.

I’m with you all the way. He’s made us more aggressive, and nastier to play against. It takes a long time to turn round the soft as shite attitude that has infected the club the past few years, but he’s made a decent start on that score. Being aggressive and nasty doesn’t mean long ball. I honestly don’t know where this long ball pony comes from, we’re far from a long ball side.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Far far better performance than our last semi final “effort”, when we minced around against Leicester. We’re more aggressive now and move the ball quicker. Some promising signs. The new lad was excellent, Diallo had his best game in a Saints shirt & Mara showed some promise. The other new bloke struggled against Trippier & the physicality, & Lyanco was Lyanco. They’re a really decent side and we got in amongst them properly for spells. Some of our fans are fucking idiots one minute moaning about long balls, the next playing out from the back, and although the keeper is pony, there’s no need to get on his back. Perhaps some near me didn’t realise it was two legs but shouting about hurrying up & get it forward in injury time was ridiculous. Down to 10 we were clearly shot and pushing for an equaliser would only result in one thing, a 2 or 3 defeat. There’s a tiny chance they’ll be too complacent & we’ll pinch a 1-0 up there before winning on pens. -
You.

“Lazy supporter attitude” what a load of old pony. He’s getting criticism because he lets goals in he should stop, nothing more nothing less. It’s nothing to do with his age. Every keeper makes mistakes that result in goals but this bloke makes more than most. There’s also absolutely nothing on the other side of the ledger, saves that kept us in games or won us points. If the Villa keeper chucks one is his own net Sat their supporters will look at the Leeds game where he made 2 outstanding saves and Sat whee he made a good one at the end. What do we look at, when has he ever made a save that wasn’t routine?

Fucking hell, Brighton have a couple of decent seasons, sign some good players and all of a sudden some of our supporters are in awe of them. Brighton aren’t doing anything we didn’t do a decade ago. We were the “model” club then, and somebody else will be in a couple of years. They’re having to sell their best players and at the moment aren’t missing them, remind you of anyone? They’ll end up selling too many, & making some shite decisions and managerial appointments and in a few short years their supporters will be pointing at another club wailing “why can’t we be like them”. When they’ve got into Europe, a cup final and had 4 top 8 finishes running, perhaps you should lay off the “Reed only talked about it” pony.
-
You’re right. HE had very little chance, a decent keeper however, would have.

What a load of old pony.

A dozen top flight keepers would have kept that out. “Save of the season”, what a load of old pony. Here’s the big difference between our keeper and every other one in the league. Whilst other keepers make mistakes, let soft ones in, they also save probable goals. Our bloke lets in ones he should save, but also let’s the ones in he shouldn’t. Other keepers sometimes pull off great saves, this bloke never does. I honestly can’t recall ever thinking “he did well to save that”. Perhaps his Grandad can think of one. To me he makes routine saves, and also makes fuck ups, that’s it…. It wouldn’t be so bad if he made routine saves and didn’t fuck up, or makes great saves but fucks up occasionally.

What do you want him to say. ‘This lot are shite, I need to get new players in asap”? Basically the Redknapp approach. If he has to work with what he’s got now come Feb, you’d be the first slagging him off for running them down.
-
Didn’t we have the ball in the net within about 2 mins, with KWP getting in down the right once before and then providing the cross for the goal. That suggests to me that we created confusion to the opposition, rather than to our own players. Didn't we make 3 subs at Everton as well, changes that helped us hold onto our lead. Not much “confusion” there.
-
It was also a poor free kick to give away, he didn’t really need to foul the bloke. When you keep conceding from set pieces you really need to stop giving away preventable corners and free kicks
-
You can’t use a semi final as a “trial”.
-
Their keeper would have saved it….

The first goal is always important , particularly today when it’s two pretty pony teams. Personally, I don’t think we lose if that’s given.
-
He wasn’t awful. He was awful against Forest, he was ok today.

Just got in, SW Railways are as bad as SF fucking C. Swap the keepers over & we win that. From where I’m sat, their keeper saves that. Var atrocious. When they show a reply everyone, apart from the totally one eyed, should say “fair enough that’s a foul” for the decision to be overturned. If that’s not re refereeing the match I don’t know what is. Fucking horrendous decision that changed the game. I’m not saying we deserved to win, but we may well have done with that to hold onto. Fine fine margins because Jonesy had just made 3 changes with KWP switching flanks, within 2 minutes he’d created the “goal” from that very flank. Lyanco decent again, keeper pony, Adams looked a bit sharper to me (but still horrendous when he gets near goal), and Armstrong worked and harried well. KWP our best player imo. We’re pretty fucking pony and will need a decent amount of luck to stay up. We didn’t get any today, another day that’s a goal….

If my kids and grand children are anything to go by, they’ll be listening to the same stuff we are. I never tried to ram my music down their throats as I thought it important they found their own likes (my old man tried to get me into modern jazz, unsuccessfully). My son started watching the Peter Jackson Get Back and is into the Beatles big time, my Grand daughters (from a different son) got into them after watching that “yesterday” film, and Rumours is my daughters current favourite album she’s playing all the time and she’s starting to take an interest in The Band. The great thing about Spotify/Apple music type apps is they can experiment, search and find stuff without wasting a fortune on shite. The great stuff comes to them without necessarily being on the radio, they’re very lucky in that respect.

They’ve now lost Ken. Watch the new chump lose as many listeners as Ball has. The bloke on in the afternoon is even worse than Steve Wright, which I thought was pretty much impossible. How to fuck up a decent radio station.

The Byrds are really under appreciated in this country, really talented band. WhIlst CSN & CSNY relied on Stephen Still’s brilliance with Young adding the much needed grit to the mix, Croz’s vocal and harmonies were an important part of the mix. The first CSN album & Déjà Vu are still played regularly in the Duck house. A summers day, the first few bars of Suite Judy Blue Eyes or Carry on kick in, fantastic…. Iconic figure, really lived the lifestyle as well as singing about it. He’s also been humble and entertaining on Twitter the past few years. Surprised he made it to 60, let alone 80….RIP

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.
Lord Duckhunter replied to CB Fry's topic in The Lounge
The BoE does operate autonomously. It sets rates which influence government policy, not vice versa. The Monetary Policy Committee sets interest rates based on the remit letter sent by the chancellor . Monetary policy is set by the bank (owned by the Government) in direct response to a remit set by the Government. If the Government changed the remit, interest rates would change. -

They have decent mixed systems in many European countries. Why on Earth are we incapable of doing so in England? BoE is owned by the Government. The Government appoint all its senior policymakers & Parliament sets its goals and responsibilities. It what way has the BoE been taken out of politics? It’s like trying to claim the US Supreme Court is apolitical. -

The only way you’ll get politics out of the NHS is to privatise it. if there’s tax payers money involved, there’s politics in it. Thinking the opposition won’t blame the government for poor service or governments take the credit for great service, is for the birds. There’s also the accountability question, who is a accountable for poor service, an unelected quango? If you don’t like the way the NHS is being run, vote the Government out. Don’t like the service your private company offers, move to another one. How do the public show their displeasure at the unelected independent quango’s running of the NHS. I presume they’ll pressure the Government to remove/change them. Hey presto, politics is back in it. The only way it’ll work is mixture of private and public provision. The NHS offers a basic service, with people paying for additional services. We should encourage more people to go private. -
He’s got a bit of class about him, nice little player. But we’ve got enough of those, I rate him but we need some meat not mince.
