It’s prime Noddy. Spuds, is another one.

If we go down he’s failed, if we stay up he’s done what he’s paid to do and deserves to stay in charge. The buck stops with him and him alone. The form has been woeful, but yesterday was a positive. Forest got dumped out of the cup 4-1 when they made changes to their line up against the same team. Newcastle, one of the form teams, went out when they did similar . We made half a dozen changes from our “best side” and went through. That’s not good enough for some, we didn’t go through well enough, The manager didn’t behave properly on the bench, he didn’t conduct himself correctly in the post match interviews. We should have won better.
-
And had he fucked up and cost us the win you wouldn’t have blamed Jones?
-
He’s inherited a mess, but it’s his job to turn it round. He’s identified the main issues but seems incapable of addressing them at present. However, the reaction to this from a large minority of our fan base is ridiculous and out of proportion. There’s been a pile on, some of it justified but a lot of it has not been.
-
He wasn’t “lucky” to inherit the cup runs, (which was the claim), anymore than he was unlucky to inherit the pile of shite Ralph left him. The FA Cup hadn’t even started when he arrived FFS.
-
They’ve given him/her a dummy.
-
What he’s saying is that had we done what some of the fans wanted and gone hell for leather in a effort to “rescue” the game, we wouldn’t have “nearly” conceded we probably would have done. But you knew that, you’re just having cheap digs at the manager again.

What a load of old pony.
-
How was Forest’s confidence after they lost 4-1 to them. I presume it’s ok because they’ve won 2 and drawn 1 of the 3 league games since.
-
What he’s on about is idiot fans moaning on Tuesday shouting for them to “get it forward” and throw bodies up front as time was running out. I’m convinced a couple of the fans near me can’t have been aware it was two legs, such was their disgust we weren’t going gung ho. Down to 10 & shot our tactics were right, but he probably shouldn’t highlight the fuckwits amongst our supporters as it gives people another excuse to have a pop at him.

If you thought the bloke becoming a bird to serve his bird in a chicks prison, was bad enough. There’s now a bloke, who became a bird, but is now a bairn. Bring back Rab C Nesbit, Krankie is providing loads of new material. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/trans-murderer-prison-identify-baby-26669658

Fucking hell, does that mean Soggy back to the Guardian?

Yes I long for the old days where we kept hold of players like Steve Williams, Alan Shearer, Mark Wright, Danny Wallace, Rod Wallace, Tim Flowers, Jeff Kenna, those were the days. Before the big clubs came along and nicked all our best players.

No it’s not, it’s exactly what it is. It’s not worse or better than the table shows. “Favourable fixtures” outside of Arsenal & City there’s not really such a thing as favourable or unfavourable. At the start of the season Fulham would have looked favourable as would Brighton, Everton away less so. But Everton was favourable at the moment we played them , whereas Brighton are third in the form guide since WC break (Villa are 6th, Fulham 8th and even Forest are 9th). I always think 10 wins keeps you up, so we’ve got a long way to go. But looking at X, Y & Z as “favourable” in advance is pointless because the margins are so tight. This season Liverpool have had some poor days, as have Chelsea, whereas Brighton have been in a rich vein of form. The key is winning when the opposition has an off day, and taking advantage. We don’t because we’ve lacked goals & defensively we’ve been weak. There’s signs we’re slightly better defensively, but we’re still a long way away from addressing the goal scoring problem.

Give it a fucking rest.

Where have I written that he isn’t. I’ve merely pointed out that Fat Sam had an horrendous start to his spell at Notts County before becoming an “innovative” manager. You’re the one performing acrobatics, claiming because it’s Notts County it is somehow different. Me, I’m just pointing out managers can make poor starts at clubs and then turn things around. I’m sure there were County fans wanting him out after 3 games as well, but I guess they’re different because it was the 1990’s.
-
That’s exactly what I was doing. He’s running Jones down for his record, yet praising Fat Sam despite him having a worse record a couple of years prior to his innovative spell at Bolton. It doesn’t matter if it’s 1992,2023 or 1897, calling for a managers head after a handful of games is ridiculous.
-
This is the third club Jones has managed. After managerial spells at Preston & Blackpool the innovator Fat Sam rocked up at Notts County , where he went the first 18 games without a win. They eventually got relegated to Div 3 that season.
-
IF. You wrote we need to “get back” to playing people in their best positions, which presumes that we weren’t at present. Sorry, I misunderstood, I should have realised it was just another vacuous dig at the manager.
-
Whose not playing in their “best” position?

The Guardian The trio accused The Guardian of “institutional racism, editorial whiteness and ignorance,” adding that the newspaper had attempted to “whitewash” history during the making of the podcast. https://deadline.com/2023/01/the-guardian-podcast-slavery-racism-complaint-1235238808/

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
They didn’t “let us down” last night. Newcastle haven’t conceded a goal in the league since the consolation one we got in Nov, have only conceded 11 in the league all season ( I’ve only counted league because that’s their full strength side, like last night), which is 5 less than any other team. They are third in the league. What did you expect, us to roll them over? -
Hang on, I thought we were a long ball side.
-
Are we going to play with 10 then, because none of them can score.
-
Exactly, it’s like saying “our goal was less offside”. Both were rightly ruled out, although with no VAR ours would probably have stood (as I thought the ref blew for theres). Against top sides you need to ride your luck and then to miss chances. It happened with Ralph and it happened last night. If you contrast last night with the last semi final, it was miles away from that pathetic display. The other difference was down to 10 and shot, we hung on to 0-1 meaning the tie is still winnable (however unlikely). Personally, I reckon we’d have let 1 or 2 more in during the last few minutes under the previous manager. After all it happened time and time again.
