Are people forgetting quite how bad Fonte was for West Ham? I doubt he’s got the physicality or pace to play for a top championship side at nearly 40. Head definitely needs to over rule heart with this one imo.

Fucking shit show again. Baz ball, load of old pony. WTF was Bairstow doing there, shocking.
-
You still don’t get it do you? Dear god 🤡

You’ve got a different definition of “play” than I have.

If we’d signed Bree today, people would be saying he’s exactly what we need.

But it’s not another club selling him, it’s a championship club. If he was at Brighton or Fulham, it wouldn’t particularly be too bad for his career if he waited another year before going to a bigger club. He’d be a bit pissed off, but probably knuckle down and give his best for one more year. I doubt he’ll do that in the championship. Theres no way playing in the championship will increase his value, however well he plays. Not a fucking chance. If we force him to stay the best we can hope for is clubs will pay what they’re willing to pay now (in relative terms), if we don’t go up we’ll get a lot less money for him in a years time. -

I’ve lived in Poole since ‘92 & there were loads from Weymouth/Dorchester/Wareham already on the train when I got on every home game. Now there’s nowhere near as many, and the odd occasion that my travel coincides with Boscombe supporters on the train, there’s hardly any stay on past Poole, so it’s not like that area of Dorset has switched sides. Whether it’s local football, both Weymouth & Dorchester have decent set ups & stadiums now , a new generation watching games on TV instead, or even car travel due to the Olympic upgrade to the roads, but there’s nowhere near as many football supporters on train from Weymouth now as there was then. The other major difference is the local attitude towards us. There was never any animosity at all except a few chumps in Bournemouth, now it’s all scammer this & scummer that, even in Poole (which is surprising because football aside I find Poole people don’t particularly like Bournemouth). Started around the time Redknapp went to Pompey & has gotten worse since then. Obviously being in the same league encouraged some of it, but it was definitely turning before then. -
They let us off it with Baz.

Is the implication that out of town supporters are “glory hunters”. If that’s the case, they’ve a weird definition of “glory”. -
Fuck me, did you watch Peter Schmeichel, you know the bloke who was captain in the 1999 champions league final. If he let one through his legs, he’d still bollock the defenders for allowing the shot in the first place. I want a captain to be throwing bollockings around and falling out with people, being unreasonable & creating an edge. Whether that’s Bednarek is open to question, but he’s certainly one of the only ones ( if not the only one)capable of doing so with this bunch. Ideally, we need to get a couple of leaders in, one of whom takes over the role.

I was born in Southampton, but moved away when I was a nipper. My 3 lads have never lived in Southampton, have no family in Southampton & no ties to the city at all, they just followed me. Are they allowed to continue supporting Southampton? -
We had Hoddle, Bally & Souness who probably were as well. I remember reading that the players used to fire the ball into Lawrie to try & embarrass him when he joined in training. Had he been managing last season, he’d probably have had one of the better touches though.
-
Rubbish. He’s just distancing himself in case a move doesn’t materialise. All this “lost in translation “ is a load of old pony. His agent works for him, he wants out.

Typical Soggy 😂 Shame you aren’t going now because you could update us on the riots. I’m sure you know a few of the rioters, some of the business owners whose property was set alight, as well as a couple of the gendarmes. We’ll now have to wait until you meet a member of Macrons Government at next weeks dinner party before we find out the real truth…. -
You clearly don’t. You probably think the Harlem Globetrotters are basketballs greatest side & what about those Corinthian Casuals, fine bunch of chaps. If you want to be entertained go to the friggin ballet, cinema, circus, whatever floats your boat.Top class sport is about winning, fuck all else and because there’s too many noddies in this country with your attitude, we’re not very good at it. There’s only one bloke to blame for JB’s dismissal, himself. The fact the dressing room doesn’t seem to accept that is systematic of our series so far.
-
What a load of old pony. Spirit of cricket, my arse. As for Broad moaning about it, wasn’t he the bloke that clearly hit the ball & then didn’t walk a few years back? Leave the game for the umpires to police, not the players.

My memory goes back to Raymond Illingworth captaining us, someone who was a genuinely innovative captain. There’s no doubt in my mind that the first day declaration was unnecessary, counter productive and ultimately cost us the game. You’re on about the 90’s but Aus then were probably the greatest test team ever. If we tried to play Baz Ball against them, the tests would have been over in two and a half days. You can be positive, innovative and throw caution to the wind. But there’s a time and place. The Aussies dig in when it’s needed, play conventional cricket, even blokes like Botham & KP did that when required. Blokes getting in & then chucking their wickets away is criminal, to then have their team mates & leadership team pat them in the head and not bollock them is unforgivable imo. It’s not the Harlem fucking globetrotters, it’s serious sport. The proof’s in the pudding and after a handful of days we’ve already pissed the ashes away.

I see Lawrence Fox had some aggro from the old bill at a lgbtq2@?ed event. Surprised our resident “Prevent” coordinator hasn’t posted about it. Looks like 2 veteran gay campaigners stuck up for the right wing bigot when two woke cops tried to move him on.
-
Which is why you don’t declare on the first day of an ashes series. They believed their own hype and they’re now getting a wake up call.It was a disrespectful act of stupidity, too clever by half. I’m fed up with reading about how they’re so relaxed and aren’t put under pressure if they get out “playing shots”. Well they fucking should be bollocked if they chuck their wicket away. It might actually stop the pathetic display of batting we saw first innings. An average side playing properly would have got out of the first test with a draw at least, and maybe even done the same at Lords. One thing for sure, it wouldn’t have been so fucking easy for the Aussie bastards. Make 5hem earn every wicket, make they grind out every run and keep them fielding at the end of a long day
