I think Lyanco deserves a shout out, it can’t be easy and we’ve seen players get worse and worse after making fuck ups (Bednarek for one). I’m not saying he’s a great player or should be starting, but he’s clearly got a pair of bollocks and a good mentality. There’s plenty of other centre halves who wouldn’t have fancied playing full back against Saha after the last couple of performances.

We’ll said. If it was a tactic we would do it early, into the channels, then press the opposition in, ala Big Jacks Ireland. There’s no doubt he wants us to get it forward quicker, but that’s different than long ball hoof football. Players lacking confidence, a lack of movement & people not wanting to make a mistake leads to knocking it long. There’s a bit of passing the buck, it takes a brave man to constantly want to play, want the ball, when we’re in the form we’re in and the crowd are edgy.

I doubt many professionals would count that as having “played the game”. Having a lad playing in the Wessex League I’m not going to demean or run down that level as I know the standards and dedication involved. However, if you’re going to go on radio and talk about people never having played the game, talk about professional managers being out of their depth & players that “can’t wait to get off the pitch”, you need to be fire proof. The interview was spun as a peer talking, not a fan. Therefore his average playing and managing career is a legitimate question.

😂😂 Love it. What about the rest of the season with “largely the same squad”. From March on they lost 9 games, won 1 and drew 2. Included in that wonderful run were a 6-0 home defeat, defeats to 2 relegated team, 4-0 at Villa, 4 defeats in a row and a performance at Brentford which was as inept as anything we’ve seen this season. Who did Cortese play for? Actually, who did Doswell play for? I’m not being funny, I don’t know. I tried to Google it but most results were about him being banned for racially abusing a German non league manager. It seems a bit weird that a non league manager would start throwing “did he play the game”, whilst commenting on a premier league set up. The logical extension of that is “who have you managed”.

It was his worst performance for us by a mile imo. I thought he even hid a bit, not really wanting the ball every time, when normally he’s totally willing to receive it anywhere. His all round performance was excellent at Bournemouth, he was a million miles off that Weds.
