Has there been a worse home performance in recent memory?
Lord Duckhunter replied to saint1977's topic in The Saints
What a load of old pony. X fucking g…pony. When Werner went through, rounded the keeper and scored the third, I turned to my mate and said “he’d have missed that at 0-0”. That’s the thing about great strikers, they score when it matters. The end of games, the decider, the equaliser . How can Xg measure the pressure each chance comes with, the consequences of missing, the state of play, the fatigue of the scorer, the opposition keeper. I’d be top of the Xg pops if I was facing Alex McCarthy every week. I played with a mush who was regularly our top scorer each year. Win 5-1 and he’d notch 2 or 3. Lose 4-1, he’d get the consolation goal. But he’d shit his shorts if he had a chance to win the game in the last minute. I suggest people use their bins more. -
Complete and utter pony. I posted regularly during Nigel Adkins, Poch and Koemans spell, when we won most weeks. I posted throughout Ralph’s “legendary” spell during covid. Hell, I even managed a dozen posts when we were top of the league, which took some doing it only lasted hours. Personally, I don’t know when people post, I certainly don’t study the results and the correlation between wins and posts, but then I’m not obsessed with certain posters. It’s actually nice that you care about when I post as your posts don’t normally register with me. I’ll keep my eye on them now though, you’re obviously a top top supporter.
-
My posting Xg has dropped a bit the past 6/7 weeks, but it’s nothing to do with results. In fact we haven’t won for over a month and I rarely posted during that period. So yet again, I call pony.

13,901 posts, we must lose a fucking lot. Either that our you’re writing pony……again.

Fuck me, Stevie Wonder doesn’t attend our team meetings, but even he can see how we’re going to play.

My daughter and snap dragon both had Graves’ disease and were both diagnosed at 21ish. Maybe a a case of coincidence in the timing of the vaccine, rather than anything more sinister. It’s not nice but once they get the balance and treatment right, things should be fine.

How many Premier league supporters would want to swap their manager for Ralph? Watford maybe, Manchester Utd (that says more about their incumbent than Ralph), who else? Norwich, perhaps but that’s touch & go, and I’m pretty sure they’d rather have Smith than Ralph in the championship. Leeds, possibly, but it’s early days. I don’t think there’s too many clubs where the supporters will be excited by the prospect of him rocking up and replacing their manager.

That was a right proper stuffing. If it hadn’t of been for FF and them taking their foot off the gas, it could well have been 9 or 10. At 3-0 the game was done, why aren’t we capable of doing what most sides do when the games lost and sit in limiting the damage. We clearly needed an extra defensive body in midfield, but he kept 2 up top for way too long. It wasn’t city or Liverpool, but an out of sorts Chelsea that just got dicked at home by Brentford. So yes, it was one of the worst I’ve seen. No excuses, completely and utterly outclassed. As for this Xg, what a load of old pony. Does it take into account Thiago Silva played in his slippers smoking a cigar? -

Fucking hell, the only one round here is a right 15 pinter, it’s nothing to do with hatred, more to do with “her” being a 6ft 4” hairy arsed jock.

It’s the most over exposed pastime there is. The amount of coverage, opportunity and exposure it gets compared to the amount of people who are actually interested in it, is off the scale. Some are now suggesting the mens game should cough up so they can go full time, what a load of old pony. They get enough off the back of the mens game, they can’t expect anymore. Being a feminist, I’d rather they stood on their own two feet rather than rely on blokes to help them out.
-
That’s a very 19th century outlook on things. The blokes should give the chicks an allowance, bit like housekeeping money I suppose. “Here you are pet, don’t spend it all at once”. If they can’t generate enough sponsorship, supporters of interest to go professional, then why should the mens game help them out?

Is Gareth Bale the best ever British player?
Lord Duckhunter replied to benjii's topic in The Saints
His performance in the WC final was one of the greatest ever by an Englishman, absolutely fantastic. From then till about 71/72 there weren’t many better. Fully deserved a “look in” within the next tier down from Moore, Bestie, Greaves & Charlton. Every bit as good as KK or Bale were. Ask any Everton supporter and they’ll tell you, fantastic player long before he arrived at Saints. -
'Biggest stupid thing' - Redknapp on joining Saints

The police had a slam dunk but fucked it up. Lots of evidence excluded because it was obtained improperly. -

Keegan was a good player, but he’s not “right up there”. In terms of players at a peak, you can’t look much further than Bestie or Jimmy Greaves in the 50+ years I’ve been watching. In terms of great players with great careers, Bobby Moore, Charlton and Dalglish take some beating, but Bally deserves an honourable mention for his performance in the ‘66 final. Personally, as good as he is, Bale (along with KK) is the next level down. IMO -
Fine margins, you are correct in one respect . If you’re not 100% on it, you’ll get beat in this league. Drop your standards slightly and even dog shit sides will beat you. That’s why we got beat, we slightly dropped the high standards and work rate of recent weeks, and got punished for it.
-
The jokes wearing thin now. It’s gone on too long and he needs to be killed off. Peter Kay got the timing right with Brian Potter, Partridge is just the same old tune over and over again.
-
It wasn’t particularly funny in the first place, but fuck me is Coogan milking it now. He’s become exactly what he allegedly takes the piss out of. Smug, corny, middle class twat, who thinks he’s still funny and edgy.
-
I’ll tell you what is a fucking joke, this “you can’t leave a single ticket” pony. The ticket next to me is spare, but my lad couldn’t couldn’t buy it because the one next to that is also spare. WTF…..
-
However, the big difference is they won the league & cup before hitting that wall. It’s probably the thing that pisses me off the most, not that we didn’t win the league (as that was a once in a generation thing) but that 2 fucking decent managers, with really really good players, we fucked up the cups badly. Poch & Koemans side could beat anyone on the day but we never really went full out in the cups. I know it’s not trendy, but it’s fucking frustrating for old cunts like me.
-
I thought he should have gone in the summer. You’re right in one respect though, despite people claiming I’m constantly calling for his head, once the season started I’ve not been calling for his head, even after a pretty horrible start. Im sure the cult won’t, but the time to judge a managers performance in a season, is when you’ve played everyone twice. Let’s hope we’ve put the horrific tactical fuck ups to bed and continue with the consistent high standards of the past month. I’d love to see us make up for the lame semi final surrender by going one better this season. I’ll even allow him a little cry if we do.
-
Although not at his best yesterday he still offers a physical presence and posed a threat to their defence. FF is kicking longer a lot more now which makes us less predictable, and the partnership between him & Adams looks like it’s growing. It’s obvious that staying for another season will be better for his career, but unfortunately other considerations trump that in football. Promising that his family seem to want what’s best (according to some posters), but I’ll believe it when I see it. If managers hung around longer, Tuchel would want him settled learning his trade elsewhere before returning in 2 or 3 years a fully rounded top 6 player. However, he won’t give a shiny shite about anything other than next season. If that means giving The family a load of old pony about his place in the set up, he’ll do it. If he continues as he has been this season, he may become an option off the bench for them next. If that’s the case The family will probably decide that’s “best” for him.
-
Exactly. The cult were so named because in their eyes he could do no wrong. Even when he admitted he had, they still refused to see it. Ralph was f**king woeful last season but a small slice of humble pie need to be eaten, because nobody really thought he could change tactically. The antis didn’t and I don’t recall too many of the cult saying he needed to change tactics, they were actually happy with his tactics last season. He’s shown a lot more flexibility this season and we’re a lot harder to beat, exactly what we were calling for. Personally I thought he was a one trick pony, he’s shown lately he isn’t. Long May it continue. As for the general running of the club, as you’ve pointed out the club wanted to keep Vesty, & Ings (not so sure about Bertrand) so this isn’t some sort of plan that’s suddenly all come together. Broja has made a massive difference to how we can play, so let’s hope there’s a plan in place for next season because Armstrong just doesn’t offer us the same options.
