Yeah, we don't want continental knob jockeys we've had enough of them. We need a real Brit leading us. WTF are the board mincing about at. A proper club would have the bloke in place now, on the training pitch running them into the ground. Holidays are for foreign Nancy boys and knob jockeys, not getting Hughes in earlier is going to cost us big time. If we go down it'll be because we waited until the end of May to appoint him. Typical, I bet Les Reed only delayed it to save on a weeks wages. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Driving us from league 1 to the premiership was the easy bit, don’t forget Norwich with Delia driving them did the exact same thing the previous year. As Burnley have proved, it’s not particularly hard to finish 8th. The hardest part is pushing on from Europa League to Champions league. What on Earth makes you think Cortese could have done that without bankruptcy. Do you ever wonder why he’s not been given another job in football. Doesn’t that make you stop and think for one minute Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

So Les appointed Puel & Pell, but not Hughes. In fact he’s “horrified” over it. I’m confused, either Reed picks the managers, in which case he choose Ronald Koeman & Hughes, or he doesn’t. Your theory doesn’t make sense. You claim he’s lost the plot, and wants us to play a certain way. However, you then go on to say that his latest appointment mixes it up, and doesn’t play like that. Lower League Player Options V Players From Abroad
Lord Duckhunter replied to Saint Billy's topic in The Saints
If Lemina was playing for Celtic , he'd be playing every week. Gabbi would score 30 goals a season in Scotland. Clyne isn't liverpools first choice right back, but you'd rather we signed Patrick Thistle's because he's playing every game and is outstanding at that level. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I think I'm getting it. Anything good since Cortese left was nothing to do with Reed and he's just taking credit for it, but anything bad, is. Therefore when we finished higher than Cortese ever did, played in Europe which Cortese never did, went further in both cup completions than Cortese ever did, it was nothing to do with Reed. Yet the one, ONE season that we finish lower than we did under Cortese (but still went further in the FA cup) its all down to Reed. **** me, and there was me thinking it was a bit more nuanced than that. The Reed haters have really opened my eyes with their well thought through precise analysis of the situation. It's all on Reed (apart from the good bits). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

**** me, we had all this ****e with Gaston. As Sir Alex Ferguson said "working hard is a talent " , so I don't buy this line that somehow his ability gives him the right to not put the required effort in. Nor do I buy this theory that he's somehow been mismanaged. Hughes came in when we were in desperate straits, every player had a clean slate, we were crying out for some creativity, yet Hughes soon binned him, doesn't that tell you something. He can go off and mince around in some other league because he's not good enough for the one we play in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Depends if they're good enough. Personally I'd rather see English players, but if they're not good enough it's a recipe for relegation -
I think they’re concerned that this massive announcement may deflect attention from the royal wedding. Perhaps the establishment have been on to the club asking for a delay . Or maybe an agreements been made in principle but both sets of legal bods are dotting the i,s and crossing the t’s, before announcing it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

She was on QT again last night, auditioning for a role in the next Michael Jackson/ Paul McCartney project. Sgt Peppers Thriller band. She made a right tit of herself again. The highlight of her **** wittery was claiming it’s not right to say that everybody stabbed in London is a drug dealer. Which would have been a good point if somebody had actually said that. http:// Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Amazing that Pep puts up with an “average” centre half isn’t it? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Because there’s an agenda against Southampton. Southgate really prefers Bertrand and thinks Bertrand’s a better player, but because he doesn’t like Southampton, once we qualified he decided to troll the club and it’s supporters. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Pony. If Bertrand played exactly the same way for the clubs that have been mentioned he'd have been dropped by those clubs, pure and simple. He had a very poor season, in some games he looked particularly disinterested. Both full backs let themselves down this season, imo. That doesn't mean they're bad players or won't be wanted by other clubs, but their standards were a lot lower than previous seasons. The fact Rose gets a place after hardly playing isn't favouritism or bias , it's acknowledgment of the fact Bertrand hasn't been good enough this season. Southgate would rather take a player that's hardly played, than one that played average. Had Bertrand played this season for Southampton like he did in previous seasons, he'd be on the plane and Rose left at home Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Different situations call for different responses. West Ham need to build some sort of bridges with their fan base, the owners are under pressure over the stadium and their general stewardship of the club. The last thing they need from a PR point of view is to appoint someone like Moyes permanently . Everton were never in danger of going down and I don't buy this Big Sam the firefighter going in and saving them. Anyone with any semblance of managerial ability would have kept them up. Fat Sam was a poor choice in the first place imo. Not a good fit. Us on the other hand need stability, need a steady experienced guy for a couple of seasons. Right man and the right time,?whereas the other 2 aren't . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No, it’s just that the manager ( and the majority of pundits) think Rose is a better player. It’s no conspiracy, no anti saints bias, there’s no agenda. Southgate thinks others are better than our two, it’s that simple. Bertrand could have made himself undroppable by having a great season, he didn’t. His standards dropped, and he’s got himself to blame that he hasn’t done enough. People should take off their red and white glasses and enjoy the World Cup. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Agreed. If McCarthy was in nets for big clubs like Heaton, Pope & Butland are, he’d get the call. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Has there been any neutrals suggesting Bertrand or McCarthy shouldn’t have been left out, because I haven’t heard one. Bertrand got what his performances deserved, dropped. Had FF been dropped earlier, even the back end of last season and McCarthy played like he has done the past few weeks, he’d have been in. Personally, I’ve no complaints on that score. Overall I’m a pretty decent squad given the resources. At least he’s binned the half fit and shown he’s not afraid to make tough choices. Others would have put Wilshire, Lallana & Sturridge in. Why is our Academy not producing Premier League Players
Lord Duckhunter replied to John B's topic in The Saints
****ing hell its so simple, yet some of you can't seem to grasp it. If we were in league 1 or even the championship, we'd have 4 or 5 of our home grown players in our starting 11. If players are capable of playing regular premier league football at 16,17,18, they will not be in our academy, they'll be at Chelsea or City or someone else's. The game has moved on, even in the 3 or 4 years since Luke Shaw and Chambers emerged. The big clubs are snapping up pretty much all the talent. Occasionally, one may slip through the net, or be unusual in wanting to develop at a smaller club, but the days that 4 or 5 of our own are good enough to play regularly are gone. The step up to the first team is too big for nearly all of our nippers, because the best ones are elsewhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
He offers stability and a decent track record in the top flight of English football. I also think when a bloke comes in with 8 games to go, inheriting a shambles and a side woefully underperforming, and keeps them up, he deserves it. Bar the West Ham game we played pretty well in every game, actually looked liked scoring and played with a structure and tempo missing for 90% of the season. He wouldn't have been my choice a year ago, but so ****ing what. He's done enough to convince me that he's a decent fit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agree with IQ. The post above sums it up perfectly. Hoedt has been woeful pretty much all season, without having the good run that Jack had last season. Yet people want to keep and develop Hoedt and bin Jack. I’d keep both of them, but if one had to go it certainly wouldn’t be Stephens. For a £15 million signing, Hoedts been a major disappointment.
