Why do you think he has not been sacked yet?
Lord Duckhunter replied to Pilchards's topic in The Saints
**** me. Can people read? I’ve quoted my post. IT WAS TIM SHERWOOD THAT SAID THE ATMOSPHERE WAS TOXIC, not me. Try reading then understanding what’s written before jumping up and down. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
This is just moaning for the sake of it. He started with Gabbi for the first few games, god imagine the uproar if he’d started with Charlie instead. Once it became apparent that Gabbi wasn’t cutting the mustard Charlie came in from the cold, before getting injured. Had he not got injured, he’d have been playing every week. God you’ll be moaning our genius manager has only started Sims once next Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Anyone see Goals on Sunday where Tim Sherwood said similar, yeah I know, skate and failed manager. But he said the players need the supporters, the atmosphere is toxic, and we’re better off playing away from home. Someone said in reply, I think it was Kammy , that we’re sat there waiting for something to happen, for the players to inspire us, rather than visa versa. I’m sure it’ll get dismissed on here, but one thing I know to be absolutely true is no team plays worse when 100% of The support get behind the side 100% of the time. If we put our misgivings over the management and over certain players or style of play for the last 3 home games, it won’t make us play worse. It could in fact nick us an unexpected point or win that keeps us up. One thing for sure, Huddersfield, Palace, Boscombe & Brighton supporters will be. Whereas us stoke , West Brom & West Ham probably won’t. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

So how does keeping this manager make us money? Surely relegation would cost him more money than paying up the managers contract & employing someone else. The 2 things go hand in hand. You only make serious money if the football sides right, as The Venkeys found out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

Spot on imo All these conspiracy theories are nonsense, as is this nonsense that we’re somehow arrogant or complacent. I would imagine that Reed has taken soundings from the senior pros, watched training first hand, been around the first team squad, and thinks Pell can turn it round and be a better option than gambling on bringing someone in. It’s a judgement call he’s made with more facts & behind the scene insights than we’ve got. Whether it’s the right call is another matter. One thing for sure, Pell must be seriously impressive off the pitch to have survived these results so long. There does also appear to be little noise or criticism coming out of the club, no rumours of player unrest or “lost the dressing room” type of stuff. But it will be pretty remarkable if Pell somehow does a Lawrie and wins us round after an awful first campaign. So remarkable, that I really can’t remember another manager who has done so. So what did you think of Lawrie’s 1975/76 attempt at gaining promotion, after all it was under him we got relegated (you probably thought he was out of his depth in ‘73). Did you complain that we only beat a 4th division side in the quarters and a third division side in the semis. Was a 6 game cup run enough to gloss over his absolute failure to secure promotion? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

His reward for winning the cup would be not getting sacked. His future after that would be down to results that season. What’s the alternative. He wins the cup then gets sacked. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Yeah, great analogy. Getting relegated is just like that, us supporters will feel just like victims families when we go down. We won’t win the cup, but to do so we’ll probably have to beat 2 of the top 5. If he does that and delivers the second major trophy in our history I hope our supporters will show more class than you’re clearly going to. I bet you wanted Lawrie out in ‘76 for failing to get us promoted Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Which "cheap option" would you employ for The Championship?

I think you’re right. If I was a betting man I’d say he’d stay. I’m not even totally convinced he’d be gone if we went down. 80/20 for him going, but not 100% convinced Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Fair enough. If people are calling for 2 forwards on the pitch in our normal formation, then it’s a debate about personal rather than set up. Personally I don’t think Gabbi can do the job required and get back defensively a bit like Okazaki does for Leicester. Long probably could, but given his record whether than constitutes 2 forwards starting is debatable. For a few minutes Sims looked like he went in there yesterday. I wouldn’t be adverse to him or Redmond dropping in there with JWP coming in wide instead of Tadic. Sims, Redmond and long are probably the only players we have who could run in behind. Boufal should be able to, but I’ve seen nothing to suggest he’s willing to. I just don’t want us to chuck the baby out with the bath water. Our away performances lately are ok. We set up with a 10 in our present formation. Playing with a 10 isn’t 2 up top. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

You seem to have trouble understanding. Nobody is suggesting we play for draws , lots of sides play without 2 strikers and it’s not negative. 4-4-2 can be more negative if you just sit with 2 banks of 4. Saturday we didn’t set up to draw, Tadic, Sims and Redmond behind 1 up top is not negative, doing the same at Newcastle is not negative. I blame that ****ing dinosaur Merrington, going on about 2 up top all the time. This forums caught his disease. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

And we were unlucky to only draw with Watford. Which ever way you look at it, our away form is ok at the moment. Certainly good enough not to tear up the formation we’ve been using all season, to appease a forum. If Redmond and Sims play like they did yesterday our formation will give us more chance of winning at Newcastle than a 4-4-2. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Talk about reading things that aren’t there. Where have I said I’m happy with how we’ve played this season. I’m making the perfectly reasonable point that being unbeaten away from home since Boxing Day now is not the time to change our style of play away from home. Of course had things worked out as you hoped, we would have lost an away game this year. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

What’s shocking is people not acknowledging the improvement in our away performances and results since Boxing Day. If we pick up the same number of draws & wins in our remaining 6 away games as in the last six, we’ll end up with 40 points even if we lose every home game. But yeah, let’s change our style. We haven’t lost an away game since Boxing Day, yet with 3 away games coming up in a row, the football experts on here want us to change our style of play. Genius. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Guido Carrillo - Official: Free Transfer to Elche
Lord Duckhunter replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Spot on. We’ve had a slightly better shape since he’s come in. The problem is the number 10 role . I’m convinced away from home that Long could play that role as Okazaki did for Leicester, as he’s quick and works hard enough to fill in the midfield when we’re defending. For all his silky touches, occasional assist and decent passes , Tadic doesn’t do enough for me in that role. I noticed Sims dropped in there for a couple of minutes yesterday, whether by design or because Tadic had found himself on the wing I don’t know, but a 3 of Tadic, Sims, Boufal/Redmond switching around as we did under Poch May work at home. People need to remember Pelle had Mane buzzing around him. As well as Sims played, Mane probably would have buried the 2 one on ones he had yesterday. One he delayed his shot and got caught , the second he took too wide. Mane buries them, we win 2-0 and every bodies happy. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
I thought it was strange only playing 2 mins and thought it bizarre that he didn’t let us take the free kick, however I was ****ed off with our fannying around with the throw in just prior to the end. Long had the ball in his hand and then left it for Bertrand who trotted up the line and took an age to take the throw. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Do you think Kat gives a monkeys about ruining her father's legacy
Lord Duckhunter replied to lumuah's topic in The Saints
Agreed, amazing man. How the **** did he manage to find Pelle, fantastic discovery that nobody at the club, certainly not the manager, had ever heard off. I bet Ronald Koeman was surprised when Mitchell drew his attention to Pelle. And Tadic, wow, can’t believe he found him. If only we’d had a manager from the Dutch league that would have noticed him. Both down to Mitchell , with Reeds man having **** all to do with it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

I don’t know about “turning in his grave” but I’d imagine he’d be disgusted with your lack of class. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
That’s pony. I head the interview. What he actually said in response to Blackmore going all Merrington on him about 2 up front, was that he accepted we had our best spell when we had 2 up front, but that they also had their best chance when we we did. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Had Boufal played like Redmond did today there would be gushing praise. He played well today, him & Sims both looked dangerous. Best performance since Liverpool away in semi final. His confidence must have been rock bottom, so it shows a bit of mettle to comeback and turn in a performance like that. Gave his all today, more than can be said of others.
