  1. I agree. The players will also know in the back of their minds that they’ll have a shot at 100 points next season. There’s no good time to play City, but if I had to pick one it’d be last day, already won league and 90 minutes of competitive football before a World Cup. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Their manager hinting they’re happy with a draw is good news imo, we could see them caught between 2 stools. Rarely a good outcome, unless you’ve got top top players. Certainly will put a lot of pressure on them for Stoke game, dangerous tactic if you ask me. I’d have taken going into the last day with it in our hands, and that’s vital imo. Clearly a win is far far better, but if it’s a point, it’s a point, let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water going down in a blaze of attacking glory. Personally, I’d stick with 3 centre halves & bring Stephens back. Redmond deserves a start, and I’d go long for Austin. The only other option could be Bertrand in the back 3, playing McQueen as the wing back. I’d defo do this if it was Wes out, not Maya, but it’s still an option. I’d bring Carrillo onto the bench for this one, in case we need to go Hail Mary, kitchen sink at the end. With JWP coming on to swing a few set pieces in, Charlie or Gabbi ratting around, he can get his head on stuff ala Burnley, or god forbid he may actually find the net. 3. Charlie Adam has got some front, got sent off early in a crucial game home to Everton that they went on to lose, and also missed a last minute peno to give them a win against Brighton. The rebound of which he was so slow to react to that my mum would have got there quicker. http:// Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Where have I said a draw is as good as a win, or advised a negative approach. All I've called for is a pragmatic approach, the approach that has gained us 5 points over the past 3 games, 5 points more than Swansea, by the way. If Hughes follows the Merringtons on here and goes all out for a win, throwing caution to the wind in a must win at all costs mentality, we'll get turned over. We're not good enough or mentally strong enough to win an expansive open game. Our centre halves and full backs are hopeless when exposed and not protected by a solid midfield base. There's a reason we've looked better lately and it's not because we're suddenly playing like we did under Poch or Koeman. If it pans out like the Leicester game, it won't be the end . If we get beat, it will be. I hope and expect Hughes to play a normal game for an hour, then see where the land lies. If we're up, great, if it's level but their on top and looking dangerous (as Leicester we're) then we may have to take the point and move on. If we're losing, that's the time for the kitchen sink. 5. The day we chucked a 2 goal lead away to Chelsea, Huddersfield scored a last minute winner at Watford, Swansea had drawn with Everton and were 5 points above us. I haven’t read back through this thread, but I bet every single person would have taken going into last day out of the bottom 3. Draw tomorrow and we will be, so I hope Hughes is pragmatic and not go all Merrington on us. I’d put it as a “mustn’t lose” as opposed to a must win. Twice in my lifetime we’ve been relegated from top flight and both times it was out of our hands. My personal preferences last day are 1. In own hands 2. Home 3. Playing side with nothing to play for. All 3 favour us. However there’s a ****ing big hole in my theory, we’re playing a great side. That said, we’ve beaten great sides before, we’ve battered Liverpool when they were a great side, we’ve battered Utd when they were a great side, beaten really good Chelsea sides. Hell even Wigan beat City when the quadruple was still on. I doubt their players give a shiny about 100 points, not with a World Cup weeks away ( they can reach that milestone next season) The point I’m trying to make is, don’t write us off even if we draw ( a defeat and we’re gone imo). Going into Sunday in the bottom 3 having not won since March 3rd could do funny things to Swansea. WBA will need to batter a decent Palace side, and then there’s the little matter of a full house at St Mary’s and city on the beach. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. I keep trying to tell myself that it’s not that important, that there are other things more important in life than the next 2 games, but I’m finding it difficult. I’m watching the Swans game in the boozer with a Huddersfield fan who lost his wife in Sept & his mum in Jan, if that doesn’t convince me losing a stupid football match isn’t the end of the world, nothing will. I’ve just got a horrible feeling about Tuesday, and starting to think I’d take a point and then go hell for leather against a City side on the beach, dreaming of the World Cup. Stoke can be a decent side, who wouldn’t be the first to perform after the fear of relegation was taken away. One thing for sure, they’ve got competitors. Shawcross, Allen, Crouch, Johnson, Butland, don’t strike me as players that’ll down tools, they’ll be hurting. Add a bit of Shaqiri magic and you never know. Of course even if that happened, we maybe relying on Palace to keep WBA out. How do I think it’ll end, head says draw Tuesday and eventually relegation. Heart says 3-0 Tuesday, and a lovely day out Sunday. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. If McCarthy wants to be a number one, he’ll want to stay, it’s as simple as that. I doubt he’s on big money, he was signed as a number 2, we’re not in a Jordan Pickford situation here. Buckland is a given to go, limiting his options further and I bet Ben Foster is on a lot more dough, so WBA maybe looking to shift him. Joe Hart will be looking for first team football as well, one of Pope or Heaton will also not want to be a number 2 and will Mignolet. If you start looking down the league, options are limited. Top 6, no chance. Burnley, Leicester, Everton, Bournemouth, have better keepers already imo. Rafa has been raving about the difference their new one has made. So at most you’re looking at 7 or 8 clubs he maybe in with half a shout of being their first choice, and he’s possibly competing with Buckland, Heaton/Pope, Hart, Foster, Mignolet, plus all the foreign keepers unknown to us. He’s got 2 options, take his chance with that lot, up against keepers already playing, probably starting as number 2, or being guaranteed number one at a top championship side (before the league starts, on paper we are). He’s waited a long time for this chance, only got it because FF was woeful, he needs to grab it with both hands. Provided he doesn’t go to the World Cup, or Watson take him elsewhere, I can’t believe he’ll move on. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. It’s funny, my Huddersfield supporting mate reckons this is exactly what’s going to happen. He’s convinced they still need another point. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. I won't be letting the players off. Some of their performances have been unacceptable this season. They're putting it all in now, but haven't done previously. As late as Hughes came in, we weren't in the bottom 3, West Ham was totally unacceptable, both Chelsea and Arsenal were there for the taking, as were Leicester and Everton. We've got 2 ****ing tough games, because we didn't pick up an extra point or 2 under Hughes when we should of. It's typical of these bunch of ****s, that they'll probably lose to Swansea, beat City and still go down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. It was a few tiny little errors, and one great big one from Bertrand that cost us. If you remember about 30 secs prior to Redmond getting in down the right PEH ran into the corner on the left. He knocked the ball out for a throw, I thought he should have protected it better, got his arse in the way, fell on it, played it off one of them. He gave it up a bit too easy for my liking. As you say Redmond should have stood on the ball, stopped them taking it. I felt the keeper as well as he did, maybe didn't quite connect 100%, had he done so it would have been a throw in as Bertrand couldn't of got to it. And finally Wes was like Bambi on ice as it deflected off him. Unlucky, undoubtedly, but these things happen to ungainly panicky defenders. Harsh I know, and any goal can be dissected into moments with slight errors in the lead up. But I would bet my bottom dollar that a side with a few hardened grizzled old pros wouldn't have conceded that particular goal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I agree, it'll be a tactical masterstroke that Swansea won't be expecting. Maybe you've been in the sun a touch too long today Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Are you all there? One of the most ridiculous statements ever made on here. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. I dint think you’ve grasped the fact that Swansea will also gain a point if it’s a draw Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Sums it up perfectly. Sides that are weak mentally give goals away at crucial times. Just before halftime, right at the death. Last week we got away with it, but not this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. Doesn’t make a blind but of difference to how Chelsea set up Weds. If they win tomorrow they’ll kick off Weds 2 points behind spurs. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. West Brom winning means Chelsea can catch spurs and they’ve got Huddersfield Weds Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  22. Decent result for the Tory party . Steptoe doing well enough to continue on the path he’s following, safe at the helm whilst his followers continue to make inroads into the parties top positions. But also doing well enough to frighten off any Tory wanting to topple May, and risk a needless election. Completely and utterly down to luck, but her complete incompetence and lack of judgement is the best thing that’s happened to the Tory party for years. Had she not called an election or called one and wiped the floor with Corbyn, Labour would have a lot stronger leader, capable of forensically taking her Government apart. The longer this goes on, the more momentum gain a foothold, & the more they ensure another loon is in place post Corbyn. When the times right the ruthless Tory machine will ditch May, and a bright young thing will take on Corbyn & Cable at the next election. 4 years of Anti semitism, Abbott, deselections, moderates jacking, Little Owen Jones, it’s going to be fun. 23. Finished above Man Utd and still went down, that’s not happening to anyone again.
  24. We weren’t already relegated. We needed Birmingham to lose and us to win last day, we won but so did they. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. Monreal must have been watching Cedric’s crossing, he must have got in down the side 3 or 4 times and delivered a poor cross. Mind you Godín is some defender. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
