The interesting thing for me is how the hung parliament affects Labours final Brexit position . Had May won a 50 majority Corbyn could stick to his policy of appealing to both Leave & Remain, being all things to all men. Just oppose, oppose, oppose, safe in the knowledge that he could tell Remainers that the Tories rammed Brexit through, & leavers aren't going to care once we've left. What happens now, when his votes matter? How does his delicate policy of facing both ways fare when it'll decide the outcome. How are his Glastonbury fans & Remainers going to feel when it's his votes that confirm the exit. Equally, how will the leavers in his heartlands going to feel if his votes stop Brexit. In a strange way doing so well, may actually cause him a real dilemma on this issue and split his delicate balancing act Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My fear was that the remain establishment would contrive to give us a Brexit that wasn't really one at all. That they would try to pretend that we'd left, but by retaining SM membership, we'd done no such thing. Luckily, instead of just getting on with this "Brexit" and presenting us with the fait accompli of a Norway style deal, they started talking pony about "hard" & "soft" Brexit. This meant that the differences were explained to people & it's clear to everyone that it's not really leaving. Had Cameron stayed, got a cross party group together & the remoaners shut up, I've no doubt they'd have presented us with " we've enacted your wishes & left the Eu. Here's the deal, in the CU & in the SM". A total stitch up. Why I believe that Corbyns move yesterday was significant (and McDonnell's interview on Marr 3 weeks ago) is that they have effectively ruled out a SM stitch up. They have conceded that remaining in the SM is not leaving. It is now harder for people to argue that you can leave the EU & remain in the SM. Labour's position when the deal comes back can only be, "accept the deal or stay in". We may still stay in, but there's no ambiguity about it. The danger of people being suckered into thinking they're leaving, when in reality we haven't, has gone. Corbyn & Mcdonnell have spent their whole lives opposing the EU. It was only because leaving was a red line to so many of the PLP & membership & that position would have threatened his leadership, that he half heartedly backed remain. He's still fudging & waking a tight rope, but he's boxed off the SM stitch up and by doing so has done us leavers a great service. Alister Campbell is spitting feathers, he understands what Corbyn has done & Nige is praising him. It's now out or in, not out, in , or half in ( with people thinking we're out) & we've got Jezza to thank for that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you understand the difference between "retaining the benefits" & retaining membership of the single market? Some, including you, are in utter denial of labours position. Corbyn sacks shadow ministers who vote in favour of staying in the SM & still you don't get it. When it comes to the SM, there's a cigarette paper between Tory & Labour policy. Both want to maintain the benefits, whilst not being members, the have cake & eat it position. Do you understand that in the Lords & again in the commons last night, labour front benches refused to vote for a motion advocating staying in? Not only that, but within mins of the vote people who did vote for it,got sacked. I've no doubt they'll whinge, complain & vote against any deal, because cake & eat it, is impossible to deliver. But their alternative will not be staying in ala Norway, that horse has bolted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is there anybody now in any doubt? Labours position is that we will not be members of the single market post Brexit . Even though it was in their manifesto some didn't seem the grasp it. Perhaps tonight's vote & Corbyn subsequently sacking people who voted for SM membership, may finally convince them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One of the best books I've ever read is "Grovel" the story of Clive Lloyds WI tour of England in 76. It maybe for blokes of a certain vintage, but it's a great story highlighting the second best sports story that long hot summer. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1157640.Grovel_ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They did it to reduce the structural deficit, exactly the same aim as Alister Darling. Did Brown & Darling want to "shrink the state" or did they want to live within our means. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wow, that's amazing. A whole tier of devolved Government at no extra cost to the UK taxpayer. Perhaps we could have an English Parliament if the cost is £0 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't believe for 1 sec that he has a clause in his contract inserted when he became captain, stating he can't be sold for 2 years. If true, his agent must be the biggest ****ing idiot in football. Supporters get hung up with captaincy, particularly British ones. My personal opinion is Claude gave the best man the on field captaincy & it had nothing to do with what type of contract he signed. I just don't buy this " if you stay, we will make you skipper" line. I could just about buy these things being taken into account regarding club captain, but team captain , no ****ing way. If he wants to go to Liverpool, he'll end up at Liverpool. It may cost them a few quid more, but if anyone thinks we're going to hold out when they're talking about £60+ million, they're deluded. I guess it boils down to why he prefers Liverpool to Chelsea. I'm sure if he's not that bothered which one he goes to, he may end up at Chelsea. But if he's set on Liverpool, he'll end up there. That pinko idiot Michael Hestletine was in The Spectator claiming the Tories are in trouble because their voters are getting older & dying and are being replaced in the electoral roll by youngsters who are lefties. If that was the only story then the Tories would have died out years ago, because it's been the same for 40 years. What keeps the Tories going is the youngsters becoming older & with it becoming Tories. People don't become Tories by argument or persuasion , because the left have the utopian dreams that are hard to argue against. You turn people into Tories by making them householders, business men, give them a stake in capitalism. Show them that free markets work for them, that's how people become Tories. What will **** the Tories isn't the young voting, it's the middle aged people that still aren't on the housing ladder, that haven't had a decent pay rise and capitalism isn't working for. It would probably help if they were actually a Tory Government, rather than a Ted Heath tribute act. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've heard it all now. Tactical voting when presented with a binary choice, cost remain the vote. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lots & lots of political pundits have stated this. They were told by insiders that candidates in marginals were telling people Corbyn couldn't win, so therefore a vote for them would limit Tory power & majority . Corbyn was also kept away from many many marginals and there were no pictures or mention of him on literature. So yes, I believe there were people who voted labour but did not want Corbyn to become PM. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Samuels is right is his assertion that we should have won something, or at least put up more of a challenge to win the cups. However he's totally wrong where he places the blame. It is not The Southampton way, or selling players, that's stopped this happening. It was Poch & Koeman not taking the cups seriously enough. Not that anybody in the media, especially not Samuels will say that. We had the players & it's not like we drew Chelsea or City away. We were best of the rest with some ****kng good players, and we got nowhere near. That's down to the manager imo, not the club policy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There's also the question of their manifesto. According to Michael Eavis Corbyn told him at Glastonbury that he would get rid if Trident as soon as possible. There was also Chakrabarti telling Sophy Ridge that free movement could stay under a different name. Their already rowing back on some key vote winning policies from the last manifesto, give it another couple of years and there will be even more. A part of me wants these nippers & dreamers to get their wish & see a Corbyn Government in action. It won't be me picking up the pieces. It won't be me losing my job or facing austerity that makes the past 10 years seem like a tea party, as I'll be retired & mortgage free when the shiete hits the fan. Unfortunately my children & Grand children will be picking up the tab. They're not bribing them with my money, but the under 40's & future generations money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'd have said it's more like England playing Brazil in the World Cup final. Everybody thinks Brazil will win 4 or 5 nil, but they only win 1-0 aet. Brazil have World Cup & hold it for 4 years, but England players go to Glastonbury & ponce around as if they won it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
