This is always going to be a loaded question as there isn't an election and wont be one for a number of years. The Coalition's whole stragegy is getting the worst over as soon as possible and to go into an election with economy seemingly on the up.People seem to forget that we would be facing cuts had Labour won the election and 6 months into their term, they would also be unpopular. There is one thing people should take when looking at the coalition's performance so far and that is that in every poll, they have come top when asked who people trust on the economy. I'm amazed that people are surprised the Lib/Dems support is so low. Take away all the Labour supporters who voted for them to keep the Tories out in Tory areas and all the Tories who voted for them to keep Labour out of Labour areas, and you get their core support. Their support has always been boosted by tactical voting. As for my vote, I'll be waiting until I've seen what the economy is like in 5 years time, if like Mrs Thatcher the Coalition have managed to sort Labour's mess out, then they'll get my vote (Tory), despite wets like Clarke and the assorted bunch of sandal wearers in Govt at present. If they haven't then I may turn to UKIP or not bother at all. I certainly wont be voting for any party that puts Alan Johnson up to run the economy.

Wasn't there the same problem with the Skate match last season, with S/T holders getting more tickets. Did everyone get in ok that had the extra seats. I've just been offered seats from a mate whose a S/T holder who claims that the online system allowed him to book his and his wives ticket and then another 2. I have a slight concern that if I take them, I wont get in on the day, although my Mrs reckons if they are in his hand and paid for, they wont be double booked, so wont be a problem. What are peoples thoughts? He is a good lad and is not looking to profit, just saw on here that there was a glitch, tried it and got me and my boy a couple of seats at face value. If they come through by Tuesday I wont go and get one, so I wont be profitting either.

Quite rightly S/T holders will get the first shout. I just find it wrong that everyone else is lumped in together, whether you've been to 1 game before or hundreds. There has to be a better system in the future.

There are really strong rumours that Mitchell is in trouble again.I'd be surprised if Howe is not aware of these rumours as they're pretty widespread in and around Poole/Bournemouth. Therefore, it surprises me that he wants to stay as his stock may never be higher.Perhaps he feels a bigger job will come along later, but I think he has come across as weak and unable to make a big decision. Personally I reckon his fannying around will put other clubs off. Adkins had as much sucsess and respect at Scunny, and the decision would have been just as tough for him, but he made it and there was none of the agonising that we've had from Howe.

I look at this as a great chance to show not only Nicola and ML's family, but players like Fonte, what a great club we are. I'd love to see Al, AC and Guly rip their back 4 apart and let the country know Southampton are back. The last meeting we just laid down and died, we played to keep the score down (admittedly after a sending off).

Webb couldn't wait to give it. The lino had the best view and he never signelled it was a foul.

Saints vs Manchester Utd - 4th Round FA Cup Draw
Lord Duckhunter replied to saint_bert's topic in The Saints
I have a feeling that a win on pens technically is a draw for the records. -
One thing I'd say about old Rupes was that he had the ticket priorites pretty much spot on. Perhaps he should come back and run the ticket office for us. After the JPT and the Skate game last year a decent fair system should have been put in place. I'm not the best fan we have, but I'm pretty sure I'm in the top 28,000. There should be some sort of nod towards purchase history.

I got some stick last week when I posted that I wanted us to all out to try and win the cup. A lot of posters said they couldn't care less about the cup and that they weren't bothered if we went out. Therefore I'm hoping tickets will be easy to get for those of us non season ticket holders who have been to each round so far.

I agree that was the most pitiful Saints performance I've seen in 40 odd years, we just rolled over and died. That did it for me with players like Lundekvam and Oakley, suppossed to be Saints through and through but both were like little boys lost. I can take lack of ability (see our 4-1 last season) but a lack of fight is shameful, especially when it meant so much for the supporters. We were lucky to keep it down to 4, as at one point I was worried about 6 or 7.

1960-2005 they were below us.

Chances are Hull and Reading will be in the same League as us next season (if we sign Austin). Another half a season one league down is not going to make much difference as he'll have the confidence to think "if I sign, they'll go up". I think we've a good chance of getting him unless a Premier league or top championship side come knocking. At the end of the day an inexperianced player like him is going to lean very heavily on his agent, so if we offer decent terms for a long contract, we could be in with a shout. If we can attract Jose Fonte with -10, we can attract Austin. I think we should push the boat out a bit here, he's the hottest property in League 1 and to snap him up sends out a powerful message of our intent.

I think we'll see our intentions over Puncheon tomorrow, if we are looking to move him on we wont want him cup tied, cause that may affect the price.

Didn't Leeds win at Old Trafford take Spurs to a reply and still win promotion.

I've just had a horrible vision
-
But that game is a distraction for them.
-
When I heard on talksport this morning his odds were 80-1 to score 3, I thought they meant all season. The same game should have been 3,000-1, no wonder the bookies make so much money.

Dont quite understand what your point is. I'm fully aware of the timescales and players we had. The point I was trying to make was that before the 3rd round Villa game, nobody could have foreseen a cup win, not even Lawrie himself.Had Lawrie taken the modern approach and dimissed the cup as a fixture congestion, then the greatest day in our sporting lives would never have happened.I would take another 3 years in this league, if it meant looking back as an 80 year old at memories of the only 3rd flight side to ever win the thing.Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but I prefer the appraoch of past years, "lets win every game we play and paly a full side". For a club with such a historic cup history, I find Hollowhead's approach sad.

2011 will be a difficult year - but the UK will become a success story
Lord Duckhunter replied to dune's topic in The Lounge
I bet you read Hansard in bed. -
I'm glad that Lawrie didn't think the cup was a distraction that would hinder our promotion hopes in '76. Would people have swapped that wonderful day for promotion that season?

Harry Redknapp was a crap Manager for us, that's a fact. It's also a fact that people like Fuller, Crainey, McCann and Euall were also crap, no matter what they went on to do later. It's not really the supporters fault is it?

"If Crainey plays for Blackpool, so can I"
