Complete and utter nonsense............

How does this game rate in the last 50 years?
Lord Duckhunter replied to stev2001's topic in The Saints
This is a massive game because of the fall out if we lose it. The '76 final although our greatest moment, did not carry the same consequences if we lost. If we dont go up, we could be kissing goodbye to RL & AL and what will the impact be on Marcus' family? There were a few sides like Leicester that have underperformed this season and we have (fingers crossed) taken advantage. My opinion is that the West Ham game of Alan Ball's era was the biggest I can remember, had we gone down, there would have been no SMS, Le Tiss would have gone, and we would still be grubbing around looking for a new ground............. -
Thank **** Mrs Duck doesn't want to come to football with me, she takes long enough to get ready for a night out. I couldn't stand waiting around whilst she checked with our neighbour's wife that she looked ok. God forbid if she turned up in The chapel, and someone was wearing the same gear............

It was a yellow not a red and I'm sure the Ref will be reminded of this during his debrief or whatever the assesor does with him. On the FLS they said that he had only sent 2 people off in 40 odd games, so maybe it wasn't a question of bottle, just that he likes to keep 11 men on the pitch. As for game changing, it clearly was. It would have been the best passing side in the league against 10 men, with the 10 men needing a win. Personally, I think we would have passed them to death and in their desperation of having to score we would have picked them off and won 3 or 4-1. That said the disgraceful peno given at SMS against Brighton was also a game changer, so you have to take the rough with the smooth. Ref's are the reason I want the race over tonight, we do not want to leave it to chance on Sat. An early Ref howler Sat and we could be up against it.

If we get promoted will we have bus tour around city?
Lord Duckhunter replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
No need for a bus tour round the city. That's for when you bring something back. The players and staff deserve our thanks and I've thought of a rather old fashioned way to do it. People stay/go back to their seats and then the players, and staff do a lap of honour,in front of 30,000 Saints fans. -
But it's not for us to judge other people's support. I hate the ****ing contest and my Dad's bigger than your Dad's attitude of some fans. Everybody leads different lives, has different priorities and outgoings. I am comfortable with my support and know that I go to every game that I can, that's all that matters to me. What I object to about this thread is the way a dig at other supporters has been twisted round to have a pop at the players. The implication is that they didn't try because we didn't sell out the away end. I find that quite offensive, and as a supporter of a a group of players that have made me very proud this season, complete and utter nonsense. I would like the OP to have 5 minutes with Nigel, or Rickie or maybe Danny Fox and tell them " I dont think you could be bothered on Sat". What sort of response would that get, what sort of supporter would they think he was?

On the train back Sunday we were stood talking about the game (bloody train was overcrowded and no seats) A guy tapped me on the shoulder and intriduced himself as a Cov supporter. Told us not to worry, they are shiete. Said that they were playing kids that were just not good enough, said Lambert will have a field day against their centre backs and that we'll win 4 or 5, at least. I said our worry was freezing on the day and them having nothing to play for. He said if that happened it maybe 2 or 3 only. He said they are about the level of a Championship reserve side. He said that Donny had good players who if they relaxed could cause an upset, but that Cov were just not good enough, or mentally tough enough to stand up to a full house and a top side determined to win. Hope he's right...........

You are joking right? If your "theory" was right, how come the Boro players put their all into it, when their support was pathetic? Maybe it's just Saints players that only try when we sell out. Or maybe you just wanted to have a pop at fans who didn't go, and tried to word the thread in oh such a clever way. Could we change the thread to something that reflects what a wonderful supporter you are, and leave the players out of it. Someone who thinks that this season our players only try when they feel like it, can hardly go around lecturing people about support. If you think that, I suggest you dont know alot about football. Because in my opinion the players have been fantastic this season and have given their all, whther there are 3,000 there or 30,000. I was there on Saturday but dont believe that makes me any better or any worse than any other supporter.

I had 2 taxi drivers, plus a train gurad say how good our support was when I was up there. For a late KO and on the TV I thought the numbers were pretty decent. I even read a report in paper prasising our support. I didn't wear fancy dress, but dont think it's any of my business what people wear to football.

I am fat, middle aged and quite like sitting down at football. I enjoy a few pints mixing with the locals and go to about 10 away games a season. Had there been nothing on this game, I wouldn't have gone. But worked out when the tickets first went on sale that this could well be the one, wanted my older boys and nipper to be there, so we're going. Is this allowed? I can't work out whether I am a plastic, an elderly person a middle-aged drip, or a laddish fan. I preferred it in the pre internet days, when I was just a Southampton supporter. But like i phones, Twitter , Facebook, and other modern things, working out what category of fan I am confusses me.............

One of the true greats of Rock music passed away yesterday. Levon Helm, fantastic drummer, great singer, he will be sadly missed.

Whoever the **** was who started "we're top of the league" owes me for the cost of 2 mobile calls home, plus it ****ed Mrs Duck off when I was shouting at her "put Sky Sports news on, what's the Reading score". Before giving up and calling my mate, only to be told 0-0. I thought the Wotsit chant was quite funny, but I wouldn't have laughed if I realised I wasn't meant to, and that made me "uncool".
-
WE cant really afford it, but I told my Mrs that I wanted my nipper to be at the promotion party. He's been to the last 6, with my Brother in law taking him to Palace when I had to work.Staying up in Boro sat night, and would love it if it's job done up there. Personally I think to gain promotion such a long way from home, would be a fantastic reward for our great travelling support.
-
Why didn't people buy Ipswich or Barnsley tickets, even if they couldn't go? They would have paid £27 for a ticket they didn't use, but would now have a Cov ticket.

That's too simple. Every song has to be rewritten, discussed and rearranged on the internet before being used. I think George Martin & Macartney spent less time discussing the arrangement of Penny Lane , then we've spent on OWTS

Saints / Reading / West Ham run in: Games to go . . .
Lord Duckhunter replied to .comsaint's topic in The Saints
We'll go up no problem, last night saw to that. Only issue is when we go up. Wins for Cardiff and Blackpool, will mean Boro will chuck the towell in and even if they dont, I still think we can get a win up there. If not it'll be Cov game, no way will Bristol C **** up against Barnsley, so they'll already be down. My gut feeling will be draw Sat, win against Cov. -
We wont get anywhere near the pitch. It'll be too easy for them to stop us. I'm not really bothered either way but think it would be nice for all the players and staff to come over and celebrate in front of us.
-
I must be getting old, but I didn't think standing was all that. My nipper got pushed around a bit after the first 2 goals went in, so we moved to the side and the view was pretty poor. It was ok for a one off, but prefer the new grounds to these old ones. I did find it a bit strange that people would want to stand, and then buy seats when there is terracing available.Had I sat down on the terraces I'm sure people would have thought I was some sort of idiot. Hopefully everybody who wanted to sit, was at the front and could see. Personally when there is a standing area, I think pretty selfish to buy a seat and then stand in front of someone who wants to sit down. I would have thought the best solution was those who wanted to stand go onto the terraces and those who wanted to sit buy seats, but perhaps I'm missing something here.

Whether Fonte is good enough for the Premiership is open to debate, what is'nt is whther he should play ahead of Martin. He's a better player than Martin, full stop...............

Saints / Reading / West Ham run in: Games to go . . .
Lord Duckhunter replied to .comsaint's topic in The Saints
It wasn't just the West Ham result that was dissapointing, but Leicester's on Sat. They were coming with a late run and if they were still in with a shout of play offs, it would be a tougher game for West Ham. I do think we'll need 7 points, with the Boro game being the biggie. We really could do with them losing on Tuesday, and their play off hopes pretty much gone when we kick off -
I maybe clutching at straws, but at least our goal difference is still higher than Reading. Forest can be tough and maybe Reading's luck may run out and they have an off day on Tuesday. A slip for them will really pile the pressure on because of their poor goal difference and Brum away on the last day.

****ing hell, what sort of bloke goes to a funeral and then starts moaning about it? If it brings comfort to the family, then who are you to complain about the service. I'm sure they are really sorry that they took up 4 hours of your valuable time, perhaps you should bill them for it.

Saints / Reading / West Ham run in: Games to go . . .
Lord Duckhunter replied to .comsaint's topic in The Saints
I cant see anything other than a win at Peterboro. I’m just hoping that Bristol C do us a favour, big time. West Ham will beat Leicester & Hull, so if they also win Tuesday, it really will get anxious. I can just see it now, win at Peterboro, lose to Middlesboro and beat Cov. However West Ham batter Hull and we fall out of the top 2 for the first time all season on the final day. I have a real real bad feeling that is what will happen if West Ham beat Bristol. -
Sorry mate, I was going to get it for the Mrs but came home from the game last night and she's got her sisters old one.
-
After last sat's result I thought we needed to win 3 games. The ones that looked most winnable were Palace, Peterboro and Cov, with the hope that me may pinch a point or 3 in the other 2 games. Nothing really has changed, beat Peterboro and Cov and barring some freak results that will be enough. I thought we played pretty well last night, but Reading did a number on us, just like they did to West Ham, Brighton and countless other sides this season. They executed their game plan to perfection and only looked rattled at 1-1. That's when we lost it, not managing to go on and punish them in the 20 mins after we scored. All 3 of their goals were errors. Fox gave a poor ball, but we didn't defend correctly after that. The thing I hate about the modern game is full backs letting wingers get crosses in too easily, it seems to be a modern trend that they dont want to close down too tightly in case they get skinned. Kebe was given too much space to pick his cross and Roberts was not put under enough pressure with the header. The second one, I thought Hammond was at fault and the 3rd was a bit of a joke. Going forward we were ok until we were 2-1 down, then I was dissapointed. As someone earlier said RL started to tire, I didn't see the point in bringing Guly on and then playing him deep in a stright swap and I didn't think we pressured Harte enough. I dont know why SDR didn't keep roasting him, but my gut feeling is we dont give him the ball early enough and we always give it to his feet. Slow build up meant that they could double up and protect Harte, and when was the last time we knocked an earlier ball into the space behind the full back for SDR to run onto? I still think we'll go up, but a favour off Brighton would be most welcome.
