I would be interested if I can use a Virgin sim in it. Virgin use the T Mobile network, so I would think a locked T Mobile phone will work with a Virgin sim. Does anyone know if that's correct?

When the book is written about the takeover thread, that pic and the old lady with the scooter have to be included. In fact, if it wasn't for the fact that the "comedy" has ran for longer than a year, the picture of Skate Hawkins and his gang should be the front cover.

I struggled to get a hotel near the ground, ended up with one about 20 mins away. They told me they were filling up that weekend, but the women didn't know if it was because of the game or not.

As a Tory, surely you should applaud this maximising of profits. Or do you only approve of the free market supply and demand, only in certain circumstances?

No comparison to now. We have a far better side. I like Baird, particulary at Centre half, but I would have him as a squad man now. Wouldn't want Surman anywhere near this side. Obviously Bale, would be in. Saga, when fighting for a contract would walk into our side, he was on fire. But, the Saga once he got a contract, would not touch with a barge pole. Same with Raisak, and Jones. I would not have played Claus again after the relegation season. My mixture of the side (just comparing form from the particular season) would be. Kelvin Frazier Jos Fonte Fox Lallana Cork MS Bale Lambert Saga Bench Bart (from that season) Baird Jones Sharp Viafara Do disagree with the "nearly got to the Premiership" tag around the 06/07 team. We scrapped into the play offs and lost to the worst team in Premiership history.

Just spoke to the Ticket office, because my son hasn't got his Reading ticket yet. They told me that they are behind due to the Pompey game and the Bank Holidays and that all outstanding tickets that anyone has ordered are going out today.

I just bought tickets for Peterboro, so they're not sold out. Strange thing was it let me buy Middlesb over the weekend, but I'm not a season ticket holder.

Saints / Reading / West Ham run in: Games to go . . .
Lord Duckhunter replied to .comsaint's topic in The Saints
at the start of the season i thought we would finish about 10th . As a mid table team i would have marked down wins at palace & pboro and a home win against cov . Those are 3 we must win , couple that with 1 point from reading or middlesboro will mean west ham have to win all 5 . Although every game is tough at this stage of the season , our next 2 away are certainly amongst the easiest , in fact barnsley aside we could not have hand picked them better . -
we have scored 4 in the last 3 games and one blokes scored all of them . I know .... Lets drop him , because he doesnt play "the saints way ". I do wonder about some people . Simple fact is sharp scores goals at this level, has scored our last 4 goals and must start .

Those that went onto the pitch were ****s, particulary the one waving the corner flag about. If they get banned they only have themselves to blame. That said, it's hardly their fault we conceded, it's 4 minutes of playing time and we let it in during that time. Had it taken 10 mins to clear the pitch, there still would have been 4 minutes left. Trying to rewrite history and saying if xy & z would have happened we'd have won, is as pathetic as running onto the pitch.

Truely sickening ending, I dont think I've been so down since Bent smacked that one in after Crouch should have headed for the corner. It was a typical Derby, passionate and 100 miles an hour. They battled and battled, but to be fair I thought we stood up for ourselves and matched them. Couple of unbelivable hits from them, together with 2 pretty decent saves won the game for them. Dont understand why Lallana tried to go round the keeper, and then made a fool of himself with that dive. Lucky not to get booked. Had it been Guly, some posters would be in melt down. Have to win Monday, simple as that. They have nothing to play for and we need to put the pressure on West Ham. Birmingham's a tough game, that'll be made tougher if they're 7 points off us. We need to regroup and go again. We're top of the League, with a 4 point cushion. A position every single one of us would have taken in Aug. Palace is a very winnable game, then lets see how the table looks comes Weds morning.
-
They'll win today, they've then got 2 home games, followed by Bristol C away. They then have Leicester (who will have nothing to play for) and Hull. I can see them winning 5 of them, if not all of them. Had Reading lost to them, they then had a run of Leeds, Brighton away and us. Tough games. The win at West Ham, will have boosted their confidence. Going into the last 10 mins today, they were confident and went on to win.
-
I thought all along that West Ham will win 5 if not all of their remaining games. I just have a real nasty feeling about them and their fixtures are easy imo. I really wanted them to batter Reading, yes there would have been a point less of a gap, but had Reading lost to West Ham, would they have been so patient today. I really think we're going to have to win 4 remaining games, and 2 wins this weekend, will ease my tension.

What sums it up is that half the press and even one of our own players think we won the league last year. I thought the Brighton fans singing "championies" was a bit embarrassing. I look at it like the JPT, might as well win it if we're in it, but not really too bothered. Certainly wont be emailing my Scouse mates bragging about it.

Last time we were promoted from this League we finished 2nd and Spurs were 3rd. We stayed up 27 years, they've yet to be relegated since. Bolton who won it went down after 2 seasons. Do Spurs fans care they didn't win the League, did we ever think about it in the following 27 years? Was it a comfort for Bolton that they won the second tier, when they were relegated to spend god knows how long in the lower leagues? The competition this season is for 3 places into the Premiership, other than that I couldn't care less.

I gave up ciggies some 23 years ago. Was finding it harder and harder to get round the football pitch so just gave up. Was never too much of a problem until I had a pint. I then started to smoke cigars,Hamlet's or Slim Panatella's that they used to sel in pubs, lovely.I ended up smoking one per pint, and it was getting out of hand. Had a real real job giving them up. Used to suck and bite straws, but it was really reall hard. Still struggle even after 15 years, particulary at Weddings or special occasions. I really miss a cigar with a pint, but I guess the smoking ban has helped because you dont get the smell of someone elses now. I also dont really want the kids smoking, so that keeps me going.

If you drum behaviours into them at an early age then you're half way there. It's about respect, my 4 have so much respect for their Mum that they wouldn't dream of upsetting her. With me, it's more a question of boundries, they know not to push it too far, but know I would never hit them (well 2 of them are taller than me, so good luck with that). We're not some sort of trendy modern parents, but it seems to work. I dont sit down and discuss anything with them, they do wrong and they're punished. Grounded, no mobile phone, no PC, no TV, whatever it takes. The first thing I ask at parents evening is "how are they behaving", before I find out about their work. I also tell the teachers "any issues call me". It seems to work, the older 2 have decent jobs and the next one's just got into grammar school

Bit too Victorian for my liking. As I said I've got 4, and they are all pretty decent, well behaved normal kids/adults. Your approach reminds me of an old guy who does some work for me. He told me that back in the 50's when he was a teenager, his Dad was on his case all the time. One day he said to his dad "if I had the bus fare, I'd go to Torquay and sign up for the Army" (he lived in Devon somewhere). His Dad asked how much it was, when he was told the amount, Dad reached into his pocket, got the exact money out and said "**** off then" as he handed it to him. He told me he never set eyes on his Dad again and he didn't die for another 40 years. My approach is more like an older brother than a Dad, and if that's wrong, then it's wrong. There are no books or manuels with being a Dad, you just do the best you can, and hope they turn out ok (which touch wood, mine seem to have)

Interesting views on here. As a father of 4, I've found that I lose my temper a lot less with my younger 2 (which I had in my 30's) than the older 2 (in my 20's). I did find it hard restraining myself sometimes, and I dont seem to have that problem now. I always tried to behave like my Dad did, and I honsetly can not remember a time he ever raised his hand to me.My Mum used to dish out the slaps, and I did use to resent her for it. Once I got older that option had gone, and she couldn't control me, whereas my Dad could still make me fill bad even at 16/17 just by saying "you've let me down". He had a way with him, that made me feel bad and want to behave. Sometimes I would think, "just hit me" and lets move on. It was strange because he frightened me, but I knew he would never touch me. The main difference when it comes to schooling was my Mum and Dad backed the Teachers. I remember getting sent off playing for the school for throwing the ball into another boys face, when a throw in went against us. I received the slipper for it. I didn't dare tell my Mum and Dad because they would have grounded me. Nowadays the Dad would be up the school complaining about the teacher. I'm not saying it is right to slipper children, but teachers should be backed. I've always followed the theory that they treat all kids equal and if mine have got a detention, then they deserved it. Provided they are not physical towards them, they can punish them as they see fit. I think it's quite easy to jump to the defence of your kids, it's very much like supporting saints. I watched Sat games and thought "what a load of shiete", went up the pub that night and some bloke said "you lot were rubbish". I found myself getting annoyed and argueing with him, saying we were unlucky, it wasn't a peno ect. It was like, I can critise my team, but you cant. I think parents are like that with kids. They know little Johhnys a nightmare, but if the teacher punishs him, they're stright on the defensive. I try to take the emotion out of it and think for a while. I tell my Mrs I'll deal with it, because she'd be up the school raring up with the head. That's the thing I feel sorry for teachers about, their hand are tied by Mum's and Dad's who together with the modern thinking wont let them punish children.

This is spot on. Nobody, knows what the FL will do regarding terms for the transfer of the Golden share to the new company. The last thing the FL will want to do is announce a -15 (for example) too early. 1) it could put potential owners off, and 2) The new owners might come in and settle CVA 1 ( unlikely, but you never know). They basically use the Golden Share as a bribe to close loopholes. There's no doubt legally we had a case to pursue leagl action against the -10, they simply closed that avenue using the Golden Share. Remember Fry was adament we were going to get our points back, so Birch can insist that there's going to be no more deduction ,but that doesn't make it so.

will the real Lee Barnard please stand up ..
Lord Duckhunter replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Sharp is a better player than Barnard, so to suggest a fit Sharp sits on the bench whilst Barnard plays is barmy. Maybe they could start together, but a 20 min cameo is about it as far as I'm concerned. -
This Can't Be Right. Big Brother Under The Tories
Lord Duckhunter replied to View From The Top's topic in The Lounge
David Davis showing yet again why the Tories picked the wrong "Dave". -
Interesting., my Mrs reckons I'm lazy round the house, I'm going to tell her being 6ft I just look lazy. If I was 5ft 6 she wouldn't keep nagging me.......
-
The League can impose whatever terms they want for the transfer of the Golden Share, ours was not to appeal the -10. I fully expect them to take into account the failed CVA, when the time comes to transfer the share to tne Newco.

We're going to have to nurse him through to the end of the season. If West Ham lose or only draw Fri, there's no point in risking him with palace and Reading to come. Yes , it may cost us a win against Skates, but all that matters is promotion. We want him fit for must win games, Sat's must win for the supporters, but if we are 5 or 6 points above WH, it's hardly must win in the grand scheme of things. What we dont want is a must win game against Middlesboro and Lambert not fit.
