Who said Eddie Howe turned us down? Eddie Mitchell, anyone who knows anything about Eddie Mitchell will struggle to believe anything that comes out of his big mouth.
-
He said if he got sacked he would expect Scunny to pay him up, so expects them to be paid compo. A very prinicpled stand.

So am I. Apart from the "Nigel Adkins does this and that" I was really impressed. I would go as far to say he couldn't have bigged us up more if he was a die hard Dell Season Ticket holder in his youth. He really wants this job, let's just get it sorted and move on.

He sounded like a Saints supporter, he seemed more positive about us than half the posters on here..............
-
He was very respectful towards our Club. Saying what a big club we are, stepped in tradition, fantastic stadium, fantastic support. Premiership set up, fantastic oppurtunity, exicted about being given the chance to speak to us.

He keeps saying everything should be private and confidental, was that a dig at their Chairman. He kept saying it.

Future oop in the air.

Thursday, September 09, 2010, 15: Uncertainty deepens over Nigel Adkins' future at S****horpe United UNCERTAINTY surrounding the future of S****horpe United manager Nigel Adkins appeared to deepen at Glanford Park this afternoon. After a meeting with his manager, club chairman Steve Wharton left the ground without wishing to make any comment on the record. But, contrary to his earlier opinion, he did seem to suggest that the offer from Southampton might still be on the table for Adkins and his assistant Andy Crosby. Wharton would say nothing on the record until after Adkins himself had spoken to the waiting media. Adkins and Crosby have this lunchtime been involved in a head-to-head meeting which had lasted around an hour. The chairman confirmed Adkins had been down to Southampton yesterday and had driven back up to S****horpe through the night. He then took training this morning with the United players as they prepared for Saturday’s game against Bristol City.

Dont know if this has been posted, but looks like their Chairman is back tracking slightly and an offer is still on the table. http://www.thisiss****horpe.co.uk/sport/Uncertainty-deepens-Adkins-future-S****horpe-United/article-2626281-detail/article.html Bloody filter, put "This is S****hrope" into google.

That's funny you should say that because my mate's girlfriends nan, has just sent me a text saying she saw him at Southampton Central getting off a train. She told me not to post it on here, but to drop lots of hints.

It's funny how supporters change their stance on things depending on which side of the "goodbye" they are affected by. Hoddle was slagged for going stright from the airport to Spurs, without saying goodbye to the players (I think Matt even commented on it in his book). Whther you agree with it or not, it's pretty standard practise in football and nearly all Managers do it, even if sacked or leave under messy circumstances ( I remember reading that Nigel Pearson came back and said goodbye to the staff outside as Lowe wouldn't let him in). He cant really be expected to turn up at Scunny next week, they may have a new man in place, may have suffered a heavy defeat Sat. Missing 1 days training is hardly going to make much difference, if so why did NC take so long to appoint anyone? The other interesting thing is that IF this is true, all the posters claiming he is a yes man, seem a bit wide of the mark.
-
It's pretty standard practise that the departing manager goes and says his goodbye's and thanks to his former team. In fact one of the problems with Hoddle's departure was that he just buggered off without a thought to the players or staff he'd left behind. IF this is the true reason for the deal being called off, then I'm afraid I'm with Adkins on this one. I can not believe that this is the reason, and if it is casts NC and Reed (who surely knows this is the done thing) in a very poor light.

Agreed, but all this "Appalling appointment", is nonsense. On paper the best appointment Saints have made in the given situation was Harry Redknapp (to keep us up), the worst Lawrie Mac. Lets give the guy our 100% support with open minds, and none of the needless "but", "cheap option" and "could have been XYZ if it wasn't for NC" stuff that keeps geting posted -

We need to get a Manager in and back him, as the board did with Lawrie. Had these forums been around then, they'd have gone into meltdown when he was appointed and crashed when he got us relegated. Who was right, the Directors who backed him, or the supporters who wanted him out? -

And a certain Mr Redknapp had loads. -

What Lawrie achieved with Grimsby and Donny was a toatally different environment to what he found at saints. He had to deal with massive egos, as oppossed to limitted players. He had to follow Ted, when most people would have rather had Ted. Didn't do too bad did he? -

Got as good a CV as Lawrie had, when he arrived. MoN-Never a runner in my opinion, but if he was whose to say he wouldn't have been another Harry Redknapp, or Brian Clough at Brighton. I always got the impression that Pardew does not create a stable and steady culture at a Club. Just a hunch after reading various things from his West Ham and Charlton days. I always thought he'd get us out of this league, but that like he did at West Ham it would involve ups and downs and sneaking through the play offs. I never believed he would do a Paul lambert, or Nigel Pearson and walk the League. We are now where we are and all this talk of whether Adkins is better than Pardew is as relivant as whther he's better than Wotte or Burley. In our postion I think he's a steady eddie, who has proved he can get teams out of this league. Let's just hope he's given time by both the supporters and NC to complete the job. Remember without Lawrie being given time, we would have missed out on the Clubs greatest era. -
My Dad was underwelmed by an unknown we got from Grimsby to replace Ted.I was only 7, so didn't have much of an opinion on it, but my uncle always reminds him.
-
I was told that Lawrie recommended Branfoot to the board, the person who told me had very close connections with Bournemouth at the time.
-
That's the important point and the reason for many failures of this system in England. It's important the DoF does not want the Managers job, it is a totally separate role and you need the right person, someone who is happy in that particular role.
-
It's because Martin O Neil is such a shrinking violet, that if he happens to be a member of this forum and sees his name, he call the whole thing off.
-
The whole thing about the KK thing was it wasn't just the shock of him signing for us, it was the way Lawrie stage managed the whole thing. Nowadays it will get out beforehand, even in those days most things were leaked. My mates dad was a sports reporter at the time and he said he'd never seen anything like that in his whole career. Evidently there were gasps when he walked in.

She was, until she was caught messing about with herself, I'll PM you the pictures if you want.
