Personally I would have preferred it if the FA had said "look, a European team isn't likely to win a World Cup in Brazil so we are going to lay the foundations for the future by giving younger players a chance in the qualifiers - there's a risk we won't qualify but the experience for them will be invaluable so we will back the manager whatever and hope the supporters will too".
