Not really surprising. He played well last week and scored, so it makes sense that Russell would drop him.

Oh I still very much enjoy seeing them lose. Just can’t laugh at the moment!
-
Our system doesn’t really suit any players.
-
Sadly it's hard to laugh at them while we have Rasmus and Co. destroying our club and taking us back down again on very possibly single digit point(s).
-
Even though he said the opposite at the beginning of the season?

The beatings will continue until morale improves!

Exactly. J. D. Vance said that Trump was a cynical asshole like Nixon and later said he was America’s Hitler. Vance later did a U turn and kissed Trump's arse who then chose him as his running mate.
-
Yeah. For about 15 minutes.
-
I admire your optimism, they’ll only get 5 and we manage to get zero.
-
That would be a perfect title for Rasmus’s next book.
-
Never underestimate the stupidity of SR.

They won 2-0 and are top of their CL group. Emery is a superb manager. When we and Villa were struggling near the bottom a couple of years ago they hired him, and Rasmus the self-professed genius hired Mad Nate. I'm not saying we would've been able to attract Emery, but what a contrast in the way both clubs have been run since then. 🙁

Russell for being out of his depth <read the last umpteen pages of this thread>. Rasmus and the rest of the SR motley crew for not sacking Russell. Dragan for not getting rid of Rasmus and the rest of the SR motley crew.

Ipswich strolled to promotion with a far weaker squad. And their manager the year before got them promoted from L1. So a completely different situation. And I'm not talking about the money. If the contract gave him a pay raise upon promotion, no problem. But It extended his contact by a year (or was it two?), which is an extra year payoff when he gets sacked. As I said, a clause that either gave him a promotion bonus, or a pay raise, is fine. Not an extension after scraping promotion by the lottery, with one of the strongest squads in that division.

The TSP crew are usually quite cautious and diplomatic about the manager, but I get the impression even they now seem to think that it's a matter of not if, but when, RM is terminated.
-
Roy did it very successfully for Palace after a disastrous start. We gave Hughes a short term contract with a huge survival bonus. A rolling contract with a huge survival bonus could attract an experienced manager.
-
I don’t think so. He was still out injured then.
-
Not hate for RM. Just wanting him sacked. I don’t really want the crowd to vent their anger at RM. I wish they’d vent it at the board. They are the ones who are responsible for this mess.
-
Actually I’d say he is uniting the fan base. Almost all of us are united in wanting him sacked.
-
If that’s true then SR were morons for agreeing to such a lunatic contract when they hired him. It’s not like they were hiring a hotshot like Emery. He was a Championship nonentity. All they had to do was include a one time bonus for promotion, similar to the bonus clause to Hughes for keeping us up.

I've been saying this for about a year now. If he doesn't soon we (and his money) are truly f**ked. Here's a sobering thought: since that ex-Man City kid guru left the person who knows most about football at our club is Russell Martin. Actually that's unfair on some of the players (like Lallana).
-
I’m curious. Of the 61 who voted “no” to sacking him, have any of you now changed your minds?
-
They are both equally shite. Which speaks volumes about the sheer incompetence of SR.
-
I wish. But I doubt SR can even get that right.
