  1. Err, bit of a difference. Charlton were relegated and are doing well in a division below. Leicester were relegated are now doing well back in the same division from which they were relegated. First the Lowe luvvies said Pearson would struggle in L1. Then, after Leicester walked L1 (at 2.08 points per game), they said L1 was easy and that Pearson would be found out in the CCC. But now Leicester are currently third, so they are saying he will be found out later! No doubt, if he takes them up to the PL, they'll say he'll get found out there. I can see where this could end. One day Pearson may take them to the Champions League final, where they get thrashed by Barcelona. Then the Lowe luvvies would say "told you so". :smt043
  2. Shamelessly copied from an excellent tour guide who posts on Saintlist. Love the last sentence! Regulars on this site will remember that I mentioned recently that the home dressing rooms at St Mary's was in the process of being upgraded. That work has now been finished and I can tell you it is amazing. The floors in both the Shower/bath room and dressing room have been relaid and 20 individual seats have been installed in place of the benches. These individual seats are set back into a light wood self contained alcove, hard to explain, looks something like a throne! The seats are fairly wide, with a black leather cushioned seat finished off by a black leather back rest complete with a saints badge in monogramed style imprinted in the back rest. Each seat has a small wooden locker at the top with an individual safe with a pin number dial. As I say it is difficult to explain in writing. I did not have my camera with me when I went in pre match on Saturday but promise to take it next time i have a tour whether it be at the Tranmere game or a normal day time tour. Then I can email it to someone on this List who can put it on a web-sit for all to see. Believe me it has the 'wow' factor especially when seen with all the kit neatly laid out. The match sponsors guest on Tuesday were very impressed and the first reaction from them was a loud 'wow'. I was told by a member of staff that it is based on the new Arsenal stadium dressing room. I have only seen the Manchester United and Portsmouth dressing recently and it puts the Old Trafford dressing room to shame and as for Fratton Park, well I can tell you that I got changed in better dressing rooms back in the 1930/40's as a schoolboy!
  3. I've heard of rats leaving a sinking ship, but not mice joining one.
  4. No, no, no ... they mustn't go into admin yet. Let them "do a Lowe", and wait until after the administration deadline next Spring, so that they can carry their 9 or 10 (or maybe 25?) point penalty into next season in the CCC.
  5. I'd quite like to see Leeds get a tonking by Kettering.
  6. But not as weird as Chris Nichol once scoring all four goals in a 2-2 draw between Leicester and Villa.
  7. I wonder if his dog is going to take over?
  8. Yes he must, bless him. I just hope they don't realise his dog could do a better job.
  9. No, too sensible for FIFA. On another note, here's an interesting situation. If England meet France in the knockout stage next year, would the Irish (for the first time in history) actually want England to win?
  10. He only handled it once! Unfortunately, I was living in Scotland when that happened, and the whole country (including the TV pundits, half of whom had made a fortune playing in England) were laughing their heads off. I suspect there was as much laughter and merriment in the ROI with the "hand of god" goal at that time. So while I do have some sympathy with our Irish friends, I wonder how they would react if it had been England on the wrong end of today's "le hand of god" goal?
  11. "The blue skate is in sharp decline but is still a viable species, the study says." I beg to differ. Extinction by next summer, I reckon.
  12. Health is wealth. Corny, but so true. +1
  13. Norwich to win? Possibly. Comfortably? No way.
  14. One good season in the PL, followed by a disastrous one. Not that decent. Yes indeed. I reckon he'd do a good job as a whiskey taster in a distillery. The drunken Scot has been sacked, so cheer up FFS.
  15. 7th may be high enough to get into the playoffs. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=503470&postcount=3423
  16. $50 for that exciting tour. What a bargain. All they need are 2 million suckers, and their debts are cleared. Sorted. :smt082 Here's an amusing possibility. P*mp*y go into administration at Christmas. After many fruitless months Fry (their administrator) gives up looking for a buyer (the only bidders, a Lynham/Fialka/Jackson consortium, comes up £999,999,998.50 short of the £100,000,000 needed to pay off the debts). The club is wound up, and drops to the blue square. Meanwhile, Saints just fail to make the playoffs, finishing a very respectable 7th. Just as they are preparing for the summer holidays, the football league decides that, to make up for only 2 PL teams dropping into the CCC, it will promote an extra team from the conference, L2 and L1. So the top 3 teams get automatic promotion from L1, and the playoffs go to the teams finishing 4th to 7th. So Saints qualify for the playoffs thanks to P*mp*y's demise, and go on to handsomely win the playoff semi, and also the final at Wembley. AP is interviewed and says things couldn't be better. But he's wrong. The FA decide, since P*mp*y no longer exists as a football league club, to use SMS as a World Cup venue, provided Saints extends its capacity to 48,000. ML readily agrees, and construction starts immediately. ML is interviewed and says things couldn't be better. But he's wrong. Portsmouth council condemn a rat-infested unused Krapp Notarf, stripped of anything of remaining value by previous owners before they did a runner, as a serious health hazard. Liebherr Construction wins the bid to bulldoze it and build council flats on top of it. Well, I can dream can't I?
  17. My top 50 would be: 50 - 3. Anyone who has taken penalties for the German national team since 1976. 2. Peach 1. MLT
  18. ... or if the Duckhunter had timed the administration just a few days earlier.
  19. This excellent idea wouldn't hold up play too often: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=502096&postcount=11 Me neither. Except, of course, when Saints are denied a perfectly good goal by an incorrect offside decision, or concede a goal that is incorrectly not ruled offside.
  20. +1 And his distribution was excellent.

  22. This is what Lowe received. I think there may be a hidden message in it. Dear Mr. Lowe, Further to my appointment as joint administrator of the Company on 2 April 2009. Unfortunately, there are insufficient assets in this matter to enable any distribution to you. Claims to this affect are a waste of time. Keep in mind that this decision is final. You should contact Alex Stirling of the Begbies Traynor Office if you require any further information. Unfortunately, I will not be available to discuss this with you personally. Yours faithfully, for and on behalf of Southampton Leisure Holdings PLC. Mark R Fry
  23. Apparently Lowe got a slightly different letter: Dear Mr. Lowe, Further to my appointment as joint administrator of the Company on 2 April 2009. 24. It has been well documented that Nige was more than willing to stay on. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/untoldstories/4350665.What_Saints_managers_were_paid/ Pearson signed a £300,000 a year deal when he arrived in mid-February 2008 with Saints nosediving down the Championship table and humiliated at lower division Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup. That was £100,000 less than Burley was on. But the chairman who appointed him, Leon Crouch, insists Pearson would have accepted a lower salary when the contract was due to be renegotiated last summer. Crouch was also happy to give Pearson an initial £300,000 contract as Saints had just received £250,000 compensation from the Scottish FA for Burley’s services at a time when Saints fans were getting increasingly restless with the former Ipswich manager’s results. Former PLC chairman Lowe told shareholders at last December’s stormy AGM at St Mary’s that “we couldn’t afford” the salary Crouch had been paying Pearson. But according to Crouch, Pearson would have accepted a lower salary to manage Saints in 2008/09 with a bonus to be paid if the club won promotion back to the Premiership. Other sources close to Pearson have confirmed that the former England under-21 coach was desperate to continue the job he had started.
