Thoughts on Will Still (if he hasn't been discussed already)? Relatively inexperienced but a great record so far. I'd be keen to see him here
-
I agree. Generally teams for obvious reasons don't advertise where they are staying, and I think they have a right to some privacy. As you say there are periods on match day when players will and should be available for autographs & photos. Still, the players have made themselves an easy target with this
-
I think he'll come good eventually, but this season shows that you cannot chuck young keepers into the PL unless they have a very good defence in front of them. We had the same issue with Gunn, who for me looked far worse than Bazunu. He dropped down to the Championship, and has now recovered enough to be an international GK with Scotland.
-
Suarez for Liverpool springs to mind. Schneiderlain for us I'd say as well
-
This article sheds some light as to why Bazunu has stayed number one this season I think. Particularly this point "The Athletic report that McCarthy’s 2021 deal – due to expire next summer – meant only captain James Ward-Prowse was earning more than the former Reading man. They add his wages are expected to be reduced next season owing to a clause in his existing deal, as McCarthy has not reached the threshold for games played" https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/23475362.mccarthys-southampton-deal-reportedly-made-second-highest-earner/ Whoever thought McCarthy was ever deserving of being the 2nd highest player at the club should be shot...

I think we can be fairly confident Alcaraz will be with us next season regardless. He only signed in Jan & whilst showing talent, he won't be at a level that would convince clubs to pay overinflated prices for him, which I think will be necessary in order for us to sell. Selles subbing him at HT on Friday was the final nail in the coffin for me with him. We need to get someone else in during the summer
-
That would be open to abuse, but maybe if both teams had to agree to the substitution ( so teams couldn't substitute their no 11 for a top order batter) it might be doable. Only time I know it happens is when players are released from England duty during a county game. Didn't it happen to Hants a few years ago whereby a player scored a century against us and then was replaced by someone else for the rest of the game?

Romeo Lavia - Official: Signs for Not Liverpool
Barsiem replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Even if we staynup he's going to leave I'm sure. I reckon it'll be a minimum of £60m we sell him for, quite possibly pushing £80m if we get a bidding war. -

So any predictions as to how much we get for this kid in the summer? He's far too good for us -
Organ dropped 3 times apparently!! And he still only made 30odd. Vince dropped as well (that was a sitter), so fair to say northants are helping us out atm. Still gubbins and Vince both have 50s so we're looking good

Nothing wrong with people riding recreationally, but if there was a sport that had a similar fatality rate for humans there's no way it would be tolerated. And at least humans would have the capacity to understand the inherent dangers associated with their participation and be able to make a decision as to whether they wanted to take part. The horses have no choice and are basically whipped to go faster and put themselves in even greater risk.

It is certainly concerning that Vince doesn't appear to want to try to grind out an innings at the mo. Perhaps he wants to show he's a candidate for England's Bazball but if so he's doing a terrible job.... I do think Prest should be batting at 5 instead of Dawson, with Dawson pushed further down the order. Or drop Organ, promote Gubbins (he's basically playing as an opener atm anyway) and put Prest at 3 or 4 Thankfully we have some decent lower order batters who are digging us out of holes atm...
-
Wish he was here to lamp a couple of our players atm...
-
Only one of the top 4 looking any good so far this season.... Hopefully the ball is moving as much when Surrey bat.
-
So Surrey were held to a draw today! Shows how important a great bowling attack is and we certainly have that. If some of our batters have good summers we will have a decent shot at the CC
-
Sheesh I didn't realise how bad both challenges he made were... Either would be a straight red these days. Amazing he was only booked each time
-
2 balls into the new season and we dropped our first catch 😂 recovered well though and have notts 93-4 at lunch No Prest in the team, but we do have Middleton down to open. Good luck to him! He had a couple of decent knocks in the 50 over format last season

https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/23432375.fuller-signs-new-contract-remain-hampshire/ More good news. I'm sure there were rumours Fuller may be leaving after last season? He was amazing last year and key in all formats
-
It's clear Burnley are the ones that have done us a favour here.... Tella will likely be worth £15m at least at the end of the season. At the start of it we would have been lucky to get £5m for him
-
If he manages again now it'll be Leicester... Think we'd have more chance in the summer if he takes a few months off. If we are in the championship we'd be an interesting challenge for sure with the young players we have on the books.
-
I'd rather we keep Vince in his preferred 4 position, but would be happy with us giving that batting order a go. Hopefully Weatherly has a good year as he has the ability, but has never shown much consistency.
-
I'm hoping Prest will be in the 1st team for the county championship. I guess we'll start him at 5 or 6 but hopefully he can become our number 3, maybe we can elevate Gubbins to open if he does well and our current openers continue to struggle
-
Great news! Still need that opener though
-
Lost 1-0 at home to top placed Bristol City. We seem to be really struggling to score at the moment...
-
This is the correct answer for me. This season we are 4 points from 12th currently, so hardly a mountain to climb.
