  1. Great news! Still need that opener though
  2. Lost 1-0 at home to top placed Bristol City. We seem to be really struggling to score at the moment...
  3. This is the correct answer for me. This season we are 4 points from 12th currently, so hardly a mountain to climb.
  4. Think the main thing they'll be concerned about is avoiding being sued... That'll be why Everton and Citeh will only get a slap on the wrist and a punishment that doesn't overly impact their status in the PL
  5. I'm sure it won't happen but they should be relegated if found guilty...
  6. Against Man U we were actually crossing the ball into the box!! So yes definitely a role for him I think. He knows where the goal is as well so think he'll come good yet
  7. KWP has received racist abuse after the game yesterday... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64936987
  8. We need a performance on weds. Too often have we looked great against the top teams and rubbish against everyone else
  9. I suspect he would have made you nervous if he'd been playing for us as a 20 year old!
  10. There's a Shane Warne / Hampshire podcast on the BBC atm for anyone interested https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0f66rv8 Not listened myself but can't say I agree with the blurb (shown below) - really Hants have been a more serious outfit from the early 90s, and if anyone transformed Hants at the time we signed Warne it was Rod Bransgrove. Still, no doubting Warne was great for us "Marking the first anniversary of Shane Warne's death, we celebrate the life of one of cricket's biggest stars, who transformed one small, English, county cricket club - Hampshire. 'Shane Warne: A Hampshire Love Story' looks at how Warne changed Hampshire Cricket Club, taking it from an unambitious and amateur run county, to one that consistently competed for trophies and rose up the cricketing pyramid."

    Ruben Selles

I'm struggling to understand what you're on about here.... Firstly, if you're referring to Selles he joined last summer, so nowhere near the 18months you refer to. But the main thing I'm sick of is the knee jerk reactions. People on here wrote Jones off after 2 games, then many thought Selles was our saviour after 1 game. Now, after 2 further games, several want him out as well. I believe Selles was brought in as a long term replacement for Ralph, and want him given a fair crack at it.

    Ruben Selles

Have to agree that a return to the style Ralph had us playing is not a good thing. If Ralph couldn't get it to work why the hell would someone inexperienced like Selles be able to? That said we've made our choice and I want Selles to be given a good crack at the job, inc starting the campaign in the championship next season. We've got a long rebuild on our hands
  13. I get the viewpoint, but if he does lose the next few we would still have time (barely) to bring somebody else in. He's managed one game, in which we admittedly got a very good win. No-one else is going to pinch him at this point, so better to keep things as they are for me atm. People wanted Jones out after 2 games, and now people are set on Selles being the messiah after 1 game. If Jones' first game was the city win everyone would have been creaming themselves about what a manager we had, however the reality was very different. Hopefully Selles has more about him, but we don't know that yet. I won't be unhappy with Selles to the end of the season, I just don't see the advantage in announcing now
  14. I'd be surprised if we announce this now. Sellers is already effectively in post and we may as well see how he does over a few games before making a decision
  15. When he posted here he was roundly abused, and still is even when not posting for some reason, and also couldn't seem to stop himself getting into the same tired arguments with the same tired posters. Can't really blame him for not bothering anymore
  16. For anyone interested James Vince will be captaining the Gulf Giants in the international league T20 competition on Sunday. Another new tournament in the shorter form of the game... It'll be on BT sport, I think at 2pm
  17. If Rafa wants it he feels like the only candidate for me. We need pedigree and we need it fast ! Not sure he'd be interested anyway tbf
  18. Sounds like this place tbf (minus the dugouts bit)
  19. I've gone for a 6. Not sure it'll keep us up but has given us a chance, and we should have a strong squad for the championship. I'm a little concerned at how much we've spent but we do have quality in Latvia ABK & JWP to sell if we do go down. A lot will depend on how well Onuacho does - that's not a signing we can afford to get wrong!
  20. My favourite time of the window! That feeling of optimism that we all have about new signings that we are invariably completely wrong about (see the rate the summer 2022 transfer thread...). Are you brave enough to put a number on how Saints have done? Please be forewarned that your answer will likely be ridiculed in a couple of months time, so vote at your own risk Summary of Ins/Outs - taken from Sky Sports. We also got Jan Bednarek back from his loan In Mislav Orsic - Dinamo Zagreb, £8m Carlos Alcaraz - Racing Club, £12m James Bree - Luton Town, undisclosed Kamaldeen Sulemana - Rennes, £22m Paul Onuachu - Genk, £18m Out Dynel Simeu - Morecambe, loan Nico Lawrence - Torquay, loan Dan Nlundulu - Bolton, loan Ryan Finnigan - Crewe, loan Kazeem Olaigbe - Harrogate, loan Lewis Payne - Eastleigh, loan Thierry Small - St Mirren, loan
  21. Agreed. Only way I can see him signing unfortunately
  22. I missed this. What did semmens do?
  23. What is with the hate for Che on here ATM?? Prolific he ain't but he's still our best striker, yet he seems he's being made a scapegoat for the shit we're in. It wasn't that long ago he was dominating Bompey when we won there (and it's fair to assume we wouldn't have won without him there), and he has 8 goals this season
  24. So do you never anticipate how a signing might do? Or whether we may win a game or not? Or where we may finish in the league at the start of a season? That's all the rate the transfer thread is. An anticipation on how saints will do based on the signings we made (or didn't make). Yes we can all be completely wrong (although I still think we strengthened in the summer transfer and therefore has a decent window, hanging onto Ralph was the real issue) but the anticipation of where the club is going is pretty much the only joy we get as fans at the moment.
  25. Chris Sutton has predicted we'll win 4-0!! Not sure he has seen us play much this season... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64366338
