It is a close call between Lawrie McMenemy and Ted Bates. I saw the team under both managers. Ted took us up twice and into Europe, while Lawrie took us back up, won the FA Cup, got us to the final of the League Cup and under him we finished second in the top division with that memorable win at Notts County (where i was with my brother). On balance, i would probably go with LM as his achievements seem a little greater than Ted's - but i could be persuaded the other way.

Maybe we will start scoring some goals more frequently. Maybe we will start defending more effectively and stop conceding so many. But as things stand it looks very bleak indeed - relegation to the third division for the first time in 50 years.

What do you expect from TalkSport - most of it is total drivel. i am more cocnerend about Agnew's completely unjustified criticisms - frankly KP is carrying the entire England side and should be applauded for his efforts. He turned the innings round so we reached a respectable total.

Yes but he was a very good sub - good tackler, good distribution, and scored a fair number of goals. Wasn't it because of Fisher's late equaliser against Villa at home that we won the Cup in 1976?

Well I listened to Radio Sheffeiled and it sounded like a very good game and they praised us for the football and effort - but noted that we couldn't score.

Five shots on target - against none for them? I am disappointed as we should be ahead and their keeper is making otustanding saves. I had a feeling we would win this but i am less sure now.

Having read all the accounts, Flintoff seems to be deeply implicated in the divisions, along with his 'lap dogs' Harmison and Cook (and also Prior, God help us).

I have never rated Euell since he came to us - am i missing something?
