  1. I only said the periods between the New Moon and Full Moon were the most auspicious and after the Full Moon don't hold out so well. Obviously Chambers and Lovren both folllow Artovision with them both completing their deals yesterday. Keep up to date with the Moon phases @ http://www.moongiant.com/Full_Moon_New_Moon_Calendar.php
  2. Sounds like a great venue for Saints supporters on Bonfire Night along with Lallana's place if he hasn't sold up by then
  3. With Inter sending a delegation to St Mary's to negotiate Osvaldo's transfer tomorrow, with Reed is absent it must be Rodgers handing transfers. If that is the case Rodgers'll have sold even the caterers cutlery and china before Reed turns up. Maybe the Orange plate referred to Dutch China.
  4. Didn't realise Reed is on holiday till August 1st. Who's handling business of recruiting and transfers. You couldnt make it up. They"ll be selling the movie rights to Summer 2014 next.
  5. Just appeared in Glasgow Evening Herald doesn't make good reading Burnley move for Ambrose may keep Van Dijk at Celtic VIRGIL VAN DIJK's hopes of making a big-money move to England could be blocked - by his Hoops team-mate, Efe Ambrose. Ronnie Cully Ronnie Cully Senior Sports Writer Monday 28/07/2014 The futures of Efe Ambrose and Virgil van Dijk are linked at Celtic The futures of Efe Ambrose and Virgil van Dijk are linked at Celtic The Nigerian is being targeted by Premier League new boys, Burnley. And his sale would almost certainly mean no-go for the Dutchman Clarets boss, Sean Dyche, is in the market to strengthen his side, and has already recruited six players. But he has laughed off suggestions promotion for the Lancashire club means he can now shop in the big bucks sales department. He said: "We can't spend £8million on players, I assure you." Ambrose - who joined Celtic in a £1.2m deal from FC Ashdod two years ago - is, however, considered within their budget. He was handed an improved contract last October, which will run until 2017. However, after impressing at the World Cup finals with Nigeria, an offer for the 25-year-old is now anticipated. If Ambrose is permitted to leave, it would make it extremely unlikely that his defensive partner, van Dijk, would also be allowed to move in this window. With Fraser Forster still being tracked by Southampton - who are reported to be ready to increase their initial bid of £7m to nearer £9m - it would leave a huge hole in the centre of the defence which set a new Scottish shut out record last season. Deila has made it clear he wants Forster to stay for at least another season. But, if the Hoops' valuation is met - and cash-rich Saints are not the only club to have registered an interest - his sale would be very hard to resist. Winning through to the group stage of the Champions League - and the cheque that guarantees - would not only underline Celtic's insistence they do not need to sell, but also provide the big stage platform their top players believe they need. Forster, Van Dijk and Ambrose will all be key men in the side which hopes to take another major step towards the group stage when they face Legia Warsaw in the second qualifying round first leg in Poland on Wednesday. Deila will insist that all of his players ignore growing speculation about their futures and focus fully on this crunch game against the Polish champions. Anthony Stokes is back in the squad after recovering from his slight hamstring strain, and will resume training today. Deila recognises his side will have to play even better than they did when they demolished KR Reykjavik 4-0 in the second leg of their opening round tie last week if they are to return with a positive result from Warsaw. The Norwegian is not being suckered in by claims from his countryman, Legia boss Henning Berg, that the Hoops go into the tie as clear favourites. Deila said: "Every opponent is difficult now. "Legia are much stronger than KR Reykjavik, and it's a step up. "They are going to be exciting games and we have a good chance."
  6. Levy used Ossie Ardilles to work on Pochettino from the moment Cortese left. Pochettino knew long before the end of the season he was going and would have persuaded the likes of Shaw and others what was best for their future. Pochettino was told by Cortese to stay, that he had time to go to a bigger club. Sadly he didn't even take advise from the man who was behind hid success. I am certain, like most Saints supporters, Pochettino will be the one to suffer the most from his decision. Reed was completely hoodwinked into believing he would stay but I'd have thought he'd have been wise enough to draw up contingency plans well before Pochettino left. Elsewhere I'm sure everyone was so sure there were no problems that Katharina and Ralph left for the summer believing there was nothing to worry about.
  7. I have long believed Rodgers was the whistle blower on Cortese's extravagances and he got rewarded for his deed. Given additional power and being able to pinpoint was had happened he was probably best placed for resolving the issues.
  8. Just read that Reed has taken to wearing a XXXXXL Superman costume. lol

    Koeman

Two amazingly good articles in the mornings Mail by their Moneymail editor who believes we are a rudderless ship with no one in charge and Reed way out of his depth. The guy fears Koeman didn't know all the sales would happen and faces an impossible task http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2707699/JAMES-CONEY-There-no-ambition-Southampton-I-fear-drop.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2707703/When-Saints-marching-OUT-story-Southamptons-astonishing-summer-sell-off.html

    Adam Blackmore

I have previously mentioned there are more ways to sell a business than an outright block sale. Selling off part of the assets for the best price (players), breaking up the reminder into affordable and interestingly priced entities such as the stadium, The Training Facilities, the business section and the football club would probably reap the most for the owner. New owners could decide to do whatever they wanted.

They're asking us to up the offer by 5 millions. Greedy bar stewards. This is Portugal not England.!! http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/southampton-told-to-up-bid-by-5m-if-they-want-to-start-talks
  13. There is a thread already for reaction to the Bournemouth game.
  14. Now the Echo are joining in by publishing an Open Letter to the Board. I'm somewhat suspicious seeing that the supposed Saints fan writes from Gloucestershire, home of none other than Rupert Lowe. Can it be even Rupert is reacting to events? I leave that you everyone to judge for themselves " SAINTS supporter Mark Saunders admits the current situation surrounding his club is “getting beyond a joke” and turning into every fan’s “worst nightmare.” The lifelong supporter has written an open letter to the board of Southampton Football Club, which the Daily Echo prints in full here .... It is with great sadness that I write this letter, but it is the only way I can think of to vent both my frustration and anger at the way my beloved Southampton is being torn apart. It was not too long ago I was looking forward to another season in the Premier League and even quietly optimistic of seeing Saints build on a fantastic 2013/14 season. However, even the most pessimistic fan could not have predicted what was going to happen. Yes, most fans expected to see a couple of faces leave the club, but it is now getting beyond a joke. What is frustrating is that most people could see that with a tiny bit of investment this great club of ours could have been competing for a trophy and even a European place, even if it was the Europa League. After achieving so much last season, the great fans of Southampton should have been looking forward to a bright future, but then Pochettino left and the alarm bells started to ring. Before we could even start looking forward to next season, players started to be linked with this and that club. Foolishly I, like many other Saints fans, believed that Les Reed would soon put a halt to this speculation, but sadly no, the mass exodus started! Shaw, Lambert, Lallana, Lovren, and now Chambers! Okay, we managed to replace Pochettino with Dutch legend Ronald Koeman, but not even his appointment could stop our star players leaving. Koeman was quoted as saying that any player leaving would be replaced with equal to or better players.....we've managed to sign just two. Other clubs seem to be linked with a player, and then a couple of days later said player is wearing the shirt. Not Southampton, though, we are linked with a player and that's where it ends. I'm starting to worry that it's the clubs intention to replace the likes of Shaw, Lambert, Chambers Lallana and Lovren with academy players. Yes one, possibly two young players gradually integrated into the team over time will work, but to chuck more than that straight into the first team is asking for trouble, especially in the Premier League. With the risk of sounding cynical, I even wonder if the club's decision to return to red and white stripes was just an effort to deflect the fans' attention away from the subject of transfers? Instead of looking forward to next season with optimism, I find my myself worrying about whether or not we will even have a team good enough to stay in the league. Where there is no doubting Koeman's credentials as a top class manager, he is only as good as the players that he has at his disposal. The reason why Saints did so well last season was that the team was settled, knew each others’ strengths and seemed to be united in their effort to achieve their goals. I really hope I'm proved wrong and we have another fantastic season, but at this moment in time I doubt that. I was born in Southampton and have been a Saints fan for as long as I can remember, and that will not change irrespective of who plays for the club or which league we are in. It's just a shame that the we were so close to realising Markus Liebherr's dream, only for things to quickly turn in to every fan’s worst nightmare. Forever a Saints fan Mark Saunders. Gloucestershire.
  15. Nonsense. Do you think his job as a rated professional and top manager is any more difficult to an England manager who have far less time to put together a winning side. Koeman has been considered as a national manager due to his ability to work with new players, young players. As long as new players arrive, and, he'd really be unlucky if they didn't, he'll be fine. I'd just feel better myself if the Board members conducting the bids pull their fingers out on prime targets Losing out on targets will cost a whole lot more than a couple of million extra being paid out if we fail to get them. The mentality of penny pinching is losing us lots of money and creating a half empty stadium in the process.
  16. Not such a stupid idea. Well worth taking a long hard look at what could be done. The Academy could provide work shops of various length where other clubs send their potential young stars and pay large sums which will provide the finance and support the further development. These young stars could provide our own young potential lads with class opponents in training matches. Employing the likes of Glenn Hoddle and other former top managers and coaches could lead our Academy to become the top training facility in the world.

    Just a theory

Let's be clear regarding Nicola Cortese. He was NEVER sacked. He stepped down and refused to be part of Katharina Liebherr's re-organisation and plans. She even tried to persuade him to stay but he refused.
  18. Now everyone is having a go at us 11.40am Breaking Southampton transfer news! Arsenal and Liverpool have swooped in for Saints tea lady Dotty. "We see her as the perfect back-up for our own tea lady," said an Arsenal source. 19. We were only considering a few weeks back renaming a stand to reflect the Markus Liebherr name. Under the present circumstances why not rename the stadium for the coming season? How's about LIEBHERR CASH AND CARRY Bring your cash and choose your player
  20. We could have done worse than appoint Rupert Lowe to the board in a consultant role.
  21. Tried a search but Atkins was all hush hush about that injury. Dec 28th 2012 Nigel Adkins refuses to be drawn on the extent of Adam Lallana’s knee injury. Juan Mata reckons he doesn’t require a rest over the busy festive period. Roberto Mancini hints at changes up front for City, Olivier Giroud is back in the Arsenal squad, while Michu and Luis Suarez are hoping to recover from ankle injuries in time for the weekend schedule: Nigel Adkins is still refusing to reveal the extent of Adam Lallana’s knee injury. The Saints’ skipper has missed the last two outings with ligament damage and, although Adkins revealed that Lallana would not be in line to return at Stoke, he, again, offered no prognosis on the injury…. “He’s not going to play against Stoke and that is all we’re going to talk about” The absence of Lallana has led to a midfield shuffle by Adkins, with Steven Davis drafted in at Craven Cottage to play up behind Rickie Lambert although, as Adkins explained, Gaston Ramirez’s role was tweaked throughout the match as the Uruguayan remains the key creative figure on show… Injury reports elsewhere. 22. Far from an idiot, but his size and weight and love of food, and obviously cakes, his ownership of many restaurants, lets you understand why he tends to use food in his examples. One of his nicknames is " Grand-papa gâteau"
  23. More likely to be dictated by the CEO/ED and the financial powers that be who will be running the transfer fees at our terms
  24. This has to be the biggest mistake for Williams is a Saints fan, competent and sadly he'd have been too knowledgeable to those with their own agendas.
  25. There are two interviews online. The one just after the whistle he seems upbeat and more or less his usual self. However in the official club interview he looks nervous, stressed, always looking away from the interviewer and with his eyes blinking non stop. Blinking is a sign of discomfort or more to the point "lying. Could be he'd just heard the reports of Chambers going to Arsenal when he'd believed he was sick. Maybe he too is being lied to, or beginning to ask questions like all of the supporters. There is a big different in the touchline interview and the later official one.
