  1. wow that is awesome! I guess they are trying to start a shopping war or something with other stores?
  2. Great game, much better then last year. They have fixed that sort of exploit were you do a nasty foul and you know it is a booking but they play on. If you could hold out to the end of the half without the ball going out of play you would escape punishment. I was doing that just passing it about waiting for the clock to run down and the whistle finally goes. With that i saw the ref running and i thought what the fook is he doing! He was running to catch up with the player who did the evil tackle and booked him as he was walking off...... Also another funning thing about the ref is if he get's hit by the ball the crowd do that ironic cheer thing they do in real life, thought was quite funny. While The Sun is not the best newspaper in their review they said "It is as close as you and i will ever get to playing football and being on Sky Sports". Think really that is what it is, like watching football on Sky. Also you can download stadiums from the EA store, i got Madrid's one from in there.
  3. Now that you can put digital photos in the game technically you could virtually create him in the game, would be quite funny to see.
  4. Early days of course but is interesting to see that 78% of our fans expect us to finish from 12th to 20th. Only 5% expect top 6 (we know who those people obviously are) and 7% think we will be relegated. After reading the posts over the past few day's i have to say i am surprised at that and shows our fans are not expecting as much as people would lead you to believe.
  5. Not sure what others think but reason i think that is basically because by that time we will have gone through 2 transfer windows and a pre-season. Our squad as a whole is pretty big. We have some good players. But we also have some crap players. Players who do not want to be here i.e Saga. In january i would expect a fair few will be moving on. Maybe some will be released i,e Molyneux,Pullis,Forecast etc.. I also think some players like Lallana could potentially go in january if they are doing well. By the start of next season we will have had experience of League One. It is a tough league. We will have been to the darkest corners of this country ala Carlisle and know now what to expect. But we will have a squad of players brought in to get this club promoted, players who want to be here and players who hopefully will be consistent. Something we have not had in a longtime. The reason why this season has low expectations is simply down to what happened in pre-season i.e going into admin. If you don't plan properly for anything then it will normally cost you for it. In anything that is proffesional you cannot expect to just turn up and hope for the best. I think it is about being realistic and frankly people expecting the manager to be fired or us to win the league etc.. are not thinking realisticly. Rather wishful thinking really. We are 10 games in, nearly a quarter of the way through. Plenty of time to go but the delayed start of the season plus the -10 really was damaging for us in terms of the early part of the season.
  6. They pay £26 now for it so dropped by £3, guess not that much really. They still give you £30 exchange value though if you swapped it for something else. http://www.cex.co.uk/products/Gaming/Console%20Gaming/Playstation3%20Software/index.php?sku=883929065646&name=Batman Arkham Asylum (15)&mode=buy
  7. If we play like the first 65mins on tues we will murder teams (not literally as we would then have no team as they would be in jail....). Bristol are one of the hardest teams to play in this league. An interesting thing is i spoke to one of their fans and they mentioned that their manager has actually lost 60 of his 150 games or so for them. He has been their since 2005 and built his team, they are now seeing the benefits of being patient. In some regards i think the same thing is happening to us. We in this first season in league one might lose as many as we win. But the following season we will have a better team and more experience, which is vital. So i expect the club to finish between 13th and 18th. I do not expect anything more then that. This year was a write off the momment we went into admin and had no pre-season. I think we will finish the season strong and take that into next season. And next season my expectations will be promotion. This season has a long way to go. Regardless of the whingers we are playing well and the table is not a true reflection of how things are. We are better then most clubs in this league but we are not entitled to beat them simply because were Southampton and we have a big stadium, speak to any Leeds fan and they will tell you how hard this league can be. If we are out of the bottom 4 by xmas we can then look at getting to mid-table. If were not then another relegation battle is on the cards. But i think people have to be realistic. We will not be getting relegated. We will finish comfortabally away from the danger zone. I think only a few people truely expected to get promoted this year.
  8. fecking game let me down as did not arrive early So how are Saints in it then any good? Also i think i read they mention you can edit stadiums now and give them things like new names, is that true?
  9. When have i ever said i am a writer for the games industry?! I am a media analyst.... i.e i get paid by companies to research into various things and give an opinion. Like for example how popular a service could be, or how people would react to a product hitting the market, if a company is worth buying etc etc I have on a few occasions been asked to do some work for computer software companies. So you sort of contradict yourself there by saying i don't object to things when i have said PES10 is crap. This is a Fifa thread, about Fifa. Some people have given their views on it and made statements and they are entitled to them. I myself have my own opinions on the same subject and overall that view is shared in the whole media. As mentioned right now Fifa10 has a 92% metacritic score. Making it currently the 9th highest scoring Playstation game, ever. I imagine it's pretty high on the 360 list too. It is the highest scoring sports game of all time. If it was an action game say COD4 everyone would be raving about it. As a football fan myself i see how good it is. So i think the problem is your end mate not mine. Everything i have said about the game has come from the reviews of the game. I have not played the game, i have not got the game. Only going on what people have said. If you prefer PES10 then that is fine, you are entitled to your opinion but mine is as i mention many times that it feels like a con job, which is just what EA used to do. I thought we all moved on from this whole "let's have a go at people" thing?
  10. always one more thing..... Was just browsing the fifa forum and noticed someone has set up a saints team on there. I notice a few names from this site. So thought i would pass on the thread to those guys who like , a virtual saints club.... http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/fifa-10-manager-mode/821599-southampton-f-c-ea-united.html So well done whoever did that stuff about us, top man. And don't forget if you enjoy the be a pro stuff loads of leagues on the official league thing for you to play in http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/online-leagues/
  11. ah well i hope you guy's don't get caught! One last thing. There is a update for the game on the day of release. They say it is to add/change things which they did after the game had gone gold. All the feedback they got from people from the demo etc they used to create the patch. So won't be huge changes but shows that they care what people think. Couple of days to go now yay.
  12. Ah, but wouldn't you get banned the minute it went online to play? I have no idea about copying games. Also thought i would add that the very very biased PSM (Playstation Magazine) who are bigtime Konami supporters and normally Pro PES have released their reviews today. They were the company Konami turned to and gave them exclusive rights for the first review for PES10. They normally give them a 90% no matter what they do. Like last year PES09 everyone was giving 70% and 75% reviews and they gave it 90%. So this month they were the ones due to continue the good name of the PES series. So what happened? Well they gave PEs2010 a 89%.........and Fifa2010 a 90% score. So more evidence to show PES has indeed gone backwards and the fact Konami need to pick the magazines that are allowed to review their games means they are running bigtime damage control. And there you have it, the biggest Ally to PES has now openly admitted Fifa is now better.
  13. Not quite sure what the OP means as it sounds very different from his other reports. For 65 mins we were amazing. They then got nervous and we no longer played like a team. That is what happend. I don't think he is trying to pull the wool over your eyes or say things that were not there ala Burley,Wotte style etc.. He could not really say anything other then he has.
  14. I'm pretty certain Lambert did that amazing little slip pass into Morgan and was him who then missed it, but to be fair their keeper made a good save to his right. Personally i thought Lambert played very well. He tried to keep the ball down and made some quality passes. He was not forward enough due to Waigo playing that role. That move he did where he was about 25 yards out and found i think James out on the right of the box was pass of the season so far, it caught out like 4 of their players. Just a pity the cross went out of play. Lambert won most things and majority of the time his pass went to a team mate. I would like to see us get more pace in to the flanks with players who can get forwards so he can stay up front rather then having to come back for it. So yeah he scored the goal as was clearly over the line and set up the other goal. He created a few chances most notibly that miss by Lallana i think when we were 2-1 up. I think judgements on him in this thread highlight the mixed views right now of some fans. Some will see good and some will see bad, game of opinions and all that.
  15. 3rd Oct - Gillingham (H) 6th Oct - Torquay (H) (mickey mouse cup) 9th Oct - Southend (A) 17th Oct - Oldham (A) 24th Oct -MK Dons (H) 31st Oct - Leyton Orient (A) Of the 5 league games i think 10 points needs to be had. Not the hardest games we have had. MK Dons will be tough but the rest are easier then we have faced. If we won say 3 of the 5 and drew one think that would be a very good return.
  16. think i will have to get this game as those reviews are superb, eurogamer gave it 10 out of 10 guess will have to vist cex and get rid of some of the old ones, £29 fot Batman is pretty cool. 100% completed it so doubt will play again.
  17. It is a morale, which is if you stick with things then you can get better. Most clubs in england who have done well have adopted this attitude, Man Utd,Arsenal,Liverpool,Everton etc etc Every club will have up's and down's. If you look at it very few teams actually go on to do much better by keep changing their manager. The only club i can think of is Chelsea by getting to Champs League final after getting rid of Grant or whatever his name was. A succesful club is not made over night, it takes time. Is 10 games enough time?
  18. They won't say anything. We have all been on this website or Saintsforever long enough to know that some people once they have got that negative process going will not revert from it. We could go on to win the remaining games 30-0 and you would not see a single word. But when that winning run ends and we lose they magically re-appear again. That is how it is. Let's make no mistake, Pardew is not untouchable. He is a guy being paid a nice amount of cash to win games. Football is a results business. If as others have mentioned by xmas our results are the same then we have to look at it after all we have to survive relegation at all costs. But most people i think believe that by that time things will have turned around. 10 games in the grand scheme of things is not many games. If after 20 games we still sit in single figures then that is something totally different.
  19. Personally if i was Pardew i would listen to a few people on here and think fook it, retire from football all together. Because who the hell would want to be a manager right now? Football has gone crazy (granted in our case it is about 8 people on a forum who have seen Saints play about twice in their life) where everyone expects to win every single game. I remember some guy at Man Utd, i forget his name. The fans were calling for his head because he was lost 6 and drew 2 etc.. they had banners saying "Whats his name out". I wonder whatever happened to that guy?
  20. Firstly what a great game of football!! One of the best games i have seen in a longtime. Credit to Rovers they brought a lot of fans and that helped build the atmosphere. Was a very enjoyable game to watch and a excellent advert for english football. In a wierd way reminded me of when we were in the prem league. Now that said i am not surprised one bit to read the remarks by people, you could copy and paste their responses for the past 3-4 years, maybe that is what they do who knows. Up until the 65 mark or so i think was possibly the best football i have seen us play since dropping out of the top league. The players were well up for it and the tempo was very high. Both teams trying to attack such as how football should be played. The first half we played some simply outstanding football with nearly everyone doing one touch and move and this created space. Sometimes we found ourselves in good positons but the ball would just not sit down. When it was in the air Lambert got nearly everything and brought players into it, i thought he was excellent. The commitment was there for all to see. We deserved to take the lead and Lallana did very well. After that we were trying to push forward for the 2nd and had a few chances and then they did us on the long ball over the top with Kuffour running on to it. At this point i think Kelvin made the wrong decision. He was left of the penalty box so the angle would of been hard to score if he stayed back. But you can't blame him really as he pulled off a great save later on. 2nd half we came out with real determination and got a deserved 2nd goal. After that again we were trying to get forward to kill the game off. I remember seeing Jaidi just in their box with the ball and simply had to much time to think and eventually lost it. Then came their 2nd goal and it drained the life from us. We had one of the best build up's i have seen from us in so long with i think was either Morgan or Lallana taking the shot and their keeper made a fantastic save. Was amazing. Then in my view the game turned into a complete nervous fest. Jaidi is normally solid but he looked knackered today, a lot of them did maybe due to the effort they put in up to that point. The crowd started to get nervous too and from then on we just seemed to play very disjointed. Never really got forward much and that was a worry. Nobody seemed to close anyone down and passes were going to nobody. It was very sloppy and to be honest dire. As i mentioned they looked tired and were 2nd best to every ball. Bristol then looked more up for it and looked the more likely to score. However with 2 mins to go the game again went a bit flat with both teams making mistakes, then 5mins go up......where the hell did that come from? Then came their 3rd goal, credit to Williams it was a good goal, curled into top left corner if looking at goal. Was a quality strike. But i think it was a total fluke, if you asked him to do it again i doubt he could. So all in all did we deserve to lose? No. Did we deserve to win? No. Did we play well? Up until 65mins we were 1st class, after that we were pretty average. A lot of decisions went against us. Their tackle on Hammond was disgraceful and probably if in the prem would of been straight red, the ref bottled it. The linesman on the kingsland side was a muppet, he kept getting things wrong. Some blatent offsides were not given while we were onside a few times and was given off. I personally thought one of their guy's handled it in the area but would of been harsh on Bristol. So all in all a great game of football and on another day it would of been different. Some of the play from us was excellent and this made the atmosphere great. But we also did some bad and sadly this has cost us today. We lack a player who can run at defenders. Waigo did not really impress me today, he seemed a little lazy and did not want to take the defenders on. Where as they had a couple of those players who want to run at the defence and this caused us many problems. In January we have to buy at least one player with pace who can run at the defence and create something, a player in the Lennon,Walcott type of mentality. That won't be cheap but that is what we must do. Because in my book that is what we are missing. Mellis tried and did some good but he just did not do those runs, neither did Waigo or Mills etc.. Manager wise i fail to see what he could of done different. He brought on Saga and he did nothing. Bringing on Wotten was the right move as tried to stop them from getting balls through midfield and Morgan looked shot by then. Pardew tried to get us to win the game and then with 5 mins to go could see we were being run ragged so tried to get the draw and in my book that was the right call simply because their pace was killing us. We had no outlet. We will not be promoted this year, people have to let that go, that is where their dissapointment comes from. If we play like the first 65mins for 90mins we will win nearly every game. But if you play like the last 25 you will draw/lose most games. And that is what we need to work on. It will come good in the end.
  21. jammy buggers, hoping Game do what Game do and give me the game a day early on thursday. A few questions though for those who have the full game already They say that the demo and full version are quite different. The demo was 5 builds ago and a lot of things have been polished up. So was wondering if you notice any differences from the demo to the final version? Are the replays like how they were on 09 where you would get a reply quite often or like in the demo where you only get a replay if it really is a close shot or a save? Also reading the reviews they say the further you get down the leagues the harder it is i.e you notice that playing in league 2 is more rough and not as technical as say the prem league. I'm guessing most of you have started as Saints so do you find that to be true? How good is our team? And the other thing is they said they would bring back 5v5 on be a pro online (as well as 10 vs 10) has that been brought back? ta
  22. Well it will be interesting to see how the final build is because the eurogamer guy has played the full version, the release version and pretty much said it was worse. I have not played the WE version as don't have a Japanese PSN account. But i somehow doubt Konami would release a demo that was supposedly months old in europe/america and then all of a sudden have this great game with all these improvements etc only 2 weeks later. The ironic thing is those few people who are saying it is great are the ones who said the orgional demo was great....go figure how that works. I will give it a rent and see how it is but people i know who have played the retail version do not sound as happy as those few guys do that is for sure. In fact the one guy on there who is mr pes, always has nice things to say etc.. say's "the difference is miminal, you are hyping it up". So it is hard to know who to believe. It is possible that it is better, it happened with Fifa 08 i.e the demo and retail were very different. Guess we will find out soon enough hey.
  23. PES10 is expected to drop in price before release to £29.99 ShopTo have it available now at that price http://www.shopto.net/PS3/GAMES/PS3PR05-PES%202010%20%3A%20Pro%20Evolution%20Soccer.html thats the ps3 version but i assume all versions will be the same
  24. sorry to hear this sad news, thoughts go out to you both and hope for a speedy recovery be great if we could get a chant for ron going round st mary's tonight to show our support
  25. Yeah but they also won 3 of their 4 away games. Today will indeed give us a better indication of what to expect from our season. They will be the best team to visit us so far, and in terms of difficulty will be as hard as it get's in this league. Win and we can mix it with the bigger teams, lose and well thats not a good sign. As others have mentioned we seem to do better when playing the better teams so maybe that will continue today. I think we can win if everyone does their job. Including the fans.
