But didn't Blackmore say it was complete ********? Think I believe him to be honest seeing as he has access to the people in the club.
-
As a footballer 100%. As a business person? Someone who knows how to run a company? Exhibit A
-
Ah but wouldn't that mean the papers get it wrong then?
-
How is Gazza getting on out on loan Turkish? Any match reports of how well he has played?
-
I'd put money on it being Nick Illingsworth

Have to say that is a pretty decent article by the daily mong. They cover most of the things well. However while the terrible two will be all over it like flies on **** I think it is worth noting that ultimately the issue is around the relationship between MLT, LM and Benali. This is nothing new and in some cases I think using them as a stick to beat Cortese with is wrong. Benali claims Cortese fooked up his house but has yet not gone to court over it. Why? On the flip side should something like that reflect on the club and the way it is being run? No. It is nothing to do with the club. Secondly there are multiple rumours about why MLT and Cortese fell out. Most me included think it is to do with the exclusivity period when they were trying to take over the club. Again that is a personal issue, does that have any effect on the club? Not really. Does this issue stand a chance of being resolved with Matty making the type of comments he has been making? No chance. Now LM is the interesting one because I don't think we really know what is going on with that one. People seem to think it is down to giving him free tickets. Which in my view is the biggest problem here. LM is our most successful manager in regards to things won and progression. If you win an FA Cup then you should be given free tickets for life. That is my opinion. So the article seems to suggest Cortese ****s on the old people connected to this club. Which isn't true. Remember the Legends day against Man Utd? All the cup winning team members out on the pitch? Hardly forgetting the past when you dedicate our biggest game for years to the players of days gone by. Also it seems to suggest he is a guy who doesn't care about people. The comment about the person crying after him telling her what to do. I am sure we have all seen someone cry at work. Just the other day my boss said we needed to work an extra hour to get something complete and one of the people I worked with cried because she wanted to get home. He said she could leave if she wanted and she went. Does that make my boss a tyrant? Of course not. Also it fails to mention the charity work he does, remember the Kenya trip? The work with Saints Foundation? Where are all these mentions to make the piece a bit more balanced? The way I see it is there is an issue with communication from the club to the fans. Under Lowe there was too much, everyone knew everything that was going on. But under Cortese there is nothing. Because of this we have the "rumour" brigade out in full force trying to make you believe every one that comes out. Even when most are then proven to be false. I am not saying the club needs to deny or confirm every rumour i'm saying they should maybe at bare minimum give an update every 2 weeks. It doesn't take much to do. Most of the problems stem from this. The thing that annoys me the most is that even in this article they are tip toeing around the content. Nobody seems confident enough or has a big enough pair to actually come out and say what the problem is. Why be so frightened of Cortese? Surely the mail doesn't normally care about printing bull**** so why not go full in and say what the actual problem is? Until someone does that I think as I said before it is just personal issues between Cortese and the three mentioned. Issues which can be sort of understandable from both sides. But does it affect the club? Not at all. As much as the guys above would love you to believe it but MLT and Cortese disliking each other means nothing. The sad part is we as fans are the ones who lose out by them disliking each other and having issues. They all need to man up and let it go.

What I'll be doing on Saturday afternoon.
St Marco replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
100% agree, At the end of the day what can we do about what's going on? We are where we are and we are doing what we are doing. It does not matter if you got it in for the chairman, the manager, the tea lady we can't change any of those things. All we can do is get behind the team and support them. Whinging and moaning on an internet over every little thing is pointless. A few wins and all those threads will look really stupid. Come on you Saints! -
Agent Appy we salute you. Whoever comes in next all they need to say is "Huge club, couldn't turn the offer down, would only have joined Pompey nobody else, bestest fans who pack the park every home game, I will take the club to the next level, it is not about the money, we need to stick together" etc then they will love whoever it is. Time to put a tenner on Harry taking the job me thinks
-
11k....that's ****. When we were on -10 and in league one at least we had 20k to watch against brentford... Pompey = massive club. Everyone wants to play for the massive club and be apart of it. Except for Appy who seems to have applied for every job going...

Sad if true but you can't really say it isn't surprising really. The club is bigger then anyone person and with the amount of cash we have spent and would lose out on next season I can see it happening soon. Sometimes managers from lower leagues struggle in the pl. It is the hardest league in the world where mistakes are punished. Based on the first 5 games I thought we would do okay and Adkins would learn. But based on the last 8 especially the last 3 I just don't see how he can change it around. The players themselves look lost, the formation is all over the place. We must have played every formation there is last night... The problem with Adkins is he is too nice for the PL. He is too positive and polite. When your dealing with young multi-millionaires you can't be their friends, you can't be all positive with them 24/7. Every now and then you need to be ruthless and tear someone a new one. I worry Adkins doesn't have that side to him. Someone could play terrible for months and deserve a mass shoe/cup of tea flinging and he wouldn't do it, would rather say it is about the team rather then the individual. In my view if he does get sacked then the players are to blame. A few of them need to take a long hard look at themselves and start putting in better performances. Regardless of what happens will always appreciate everything Adkins has done for us but I want the club to be as successful as possible. I did not pay almost a grand just to see us go straight back down. I want the club to be the best it can be and if Adkins cannot take it to that next level then sorry someone has to come in who can. Those saying we should stick with him and go down then bounce back up need to remember how long it took us to get back here....it isn't as simple as saying we will come straight back up. Relegation has a huge knock on effect. Our players will leave, Lallana,Rickie,Gaston,Morgan, etc. We will lose them all. We must stay up at all costs imo.

Olly Lancashire's shock tweet about Southampton Football Club
St Marco replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Of course he would know people there. But is someone who was basically sent out of the club then sacked a reliable source of information? Some might say he could be a disgruntled ex-employee... -

He was actually at Grimsby most of that season then was released at the end of it. So not really sure he would know what he is like based on his very short time at the club under the new owners? -
Sorry but I think this is pure myth and some have fallen for it. People said he was forced to play 4-3-3 and yet we have been playing 4-4-2 the last couple of games. In the media news 24/7 world we live in it would come out very quickly if it was the case. The reason we are where we are has nothing to do with what the chairman does. It is to do with our terrible defending. Did we play attractive passing football tonight? No we hoofed it up field most of the time. I think people sometimes simply cannot accept that we are poor. Rather then look at it logically they prefer to go into the realms of conspiracy theory and try and make out something somewhere is holding us back. We just are not good enough in defence. It is as simple as that.

Does anyone really give a ****? We borrowed money when we were last in the prem and we are probably borrowing money now. I won't sleep at night that's for sure! Isn't Man Utd like 500m in debt? Everybody owes someone. Except Turdish of course. he is as clean as clean get's

My other half is American and her family live in Miami. So I am there a fair bit. When I visit me and her dad go off to watch the Heat play and over the years I have come to support them. I got to see the 2nd game of the finals this year which was ****ing epic! Have also been a Patriots fan due to working in Boston for 2 years in the late 90's. It was the first NFL team I had seen so maybe that's why I adopted them. Was Sod's law though the year I got a better job back home they then won their first title... I also watch the Dolphins now and then when I go to stay but they are mega **** so try to avoid that when I can In terms of other football teams I don't support any really. No matter where I am in the world or what sport i'm watching, Saints will always be my only real team. With Saints its personal, you care too much.

Thought second half at weekend we looked miles better with 4-3-3 personally. The problem is players making too many personal mistakes not the formation. If we had not made a mistake in the final few minutes of both Manchester games you would not be saying what your saying. With Cork alongside Davis I think we will be a bit better in the middle, have a bit more ability to disrupt attacks. Add to that Ramirez and we should be able to have that bit of quality we need. If Jose didn't do the splits when clearing the ball against Spurs we might have got something. No formation in the world can stop individual mistakes. To quote The Guardian lead sports writer from the weekend "Southampton are proving a dangerous team but they will survive in the Premier League only if they start doing more damage to opponents than themselves". And really that is all it is. We may not be getting results but we are playing well enough.
-
Ok let's just go with it and believe what Turkish has said recently. So imagine you were Nigel Adkins. (Based on the "rumours" Turkish has heard) You don't get a choice on how the club plays. The Southampton way is the way to go which means Barca style attacking. You don't get to pick the formation as the Southampton way means you have to play 4-3-3. That's just how it is. You don't get to pick the team. And now to add to that you don't get to pick the players who move to your club. You want a defender? Tough **** you got a 9th striker! So based on that in all seriousness why the **** would Adkins want to be here?! If I can say anything about him he seems like a decent honourable do the right thing kind of guy. If he had no control over anything I doubt very much he would stay. He could go to any football league club he wanted. With things not going so well right now he could say "you know what, I quit". He could say he was not able to do the things he wanted due to restrictions and walk with his footballing reputation pretty much still glowing with positivity. It would make zero sense for him to stay on in a club where by Turkish's accounts he has little to no influence in the decisions that run the footballing side. Especially when things are going bad. Sounds stupid to me.

Been using it for the last couple of days and pretty much agree with what OP said. When it started up I hated it because of being so used to Windows 7. But the more you use it and figure out how to find where everything is then it's actually pretty good. It's basically Windows 7 with an extra display screen. So far have not had any problems but in truth In all of the Windows operating systems I used the only one I had issues with was Vista. Windows 7 was flawless. And this just seems like an update for it if anything. For the £14.99 it cost me so far very happy. Also I saw Tech Radar gave it 4.5/5 and they are normally very strict. So if people have concerns then I say give it a read as may answer some questions you have http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/software/operating-systems/windows-8-1093002/review

Think some of you might actually need to read the statement before getting all in a twist.... The Echo article says they contacted saints to get a statement on Niges future. They say Saints ignored their request and thus indicate that silence = Adkins is gone. Saints statement reads "For clarification, the following statement was issued to the Southern Daily Echo in relation to the story they are running this morning. It has been the Club’s conscious policy for the last three years not to reply to questions or calls for statements from the Daily Echo and this will continue to be Club Policy" So they are saying they don't answer questions from The Echo. That is all it is. Got to love how the same old people try and turn a nothing statement into the end of the world....again.

There is holding a different view then there is holding a different view for the sake of being negative and trying to **** stir. Sorry Fitzhugh but anyone who bases opinion of someone from rumours they hear down the pub or from what Dave the chippy heard from his mate who knows someone who cleans the toilets is well and truely a mong. But hey I will edit that part out as it seems to have caused some offence!
-
I'm talking about people who are negative for the sake of being negative. If we won the pl and the champions league in the same season they would still find a way to bash the club. They are not of similar mind to me. They base their reasons for being negative on the chairman, believing his 'influence' on the team is what is making us lose. Which I don't think is true. I don't think it matters who picked the team, if the players fall over and let Van Persie get a chance to score not sure you can blame the chairman or even the manager for that mistake? And right now thats where we are at. Too many individual errors which indicate to me that some of them are not good enough for this level.
-
I would hardly call myself a negative mong even by voting it was time for a change..... pretty sure im one of the few positive ones left on this board. But if you actually read my comments your see I said he deserves at the bare minimum the next 3 games. If those games are still the same then maybe it needs looking at. That is why I have changed my mind because I have had time to reflect on it and based on the reasons above I think i'm right to have changed it. It is more down to the players then the manager. It is okay to change your mind you know, it is okay to admit you are wrong on an opinion. There is no shame in it.
-
Where was I negative over the weekend? I said maybe Adkins was one of those managers who do really well in the football league but just can't make the jump to PL. There are so many of them. I would hardly call that negative. And by mongs you know what I mean. People who revel in negativity.
-
After having the weekend to think a bit more about it and even after voting in the poll that maybe it was time for Adkins to go, I have changed my mind on that and think we can and will stay up. So why do I feel so confident we will survive despite the fact we seem to be letting in more goals then Katie Price let's in men? Simple really. We are only 1 point away from safety and 2 wins from mid-table. We are not stuck on the bottom 10 or 15 points adrift. But other then that I think if your honest about it and look at the games other then the result we have done very well. In those games how many were 1 sided beatings that reflect the scoreline? Other then Arsenal game none of them. In the vast majority of games this season we have been competative and even looked like winning a few of them. The two games against the Manchester clubs we were so close, the Everton game we started well and had a funny 10 minutes then dominated the game again. It is these little spells that are costing us. It isn't the chairman picking the team that is costing us, it isn't the manager leaving out players that are costing us. It is individual mistakes by the players at bad times which are. The subs sometimes do not help but again look at yesterday, was that really a 4-1 win for West Ham? Not at all. Playing the way we are playing means that we are creating chances and we are in the game. Our problem is that while we are so attacking minded we are vunerable to counter attacks and that is what teams seem to be doing. Our defence is our weakness. Is that a manager problem? Is that a chairman problem? Its a bit of both. We should not have been going into a season in the PL with a back line of players who have not played and performed in it before. Those players are learning at this level too and naturally they will make mistakes. Come January I think we will bring in a proper central defender who has the experience and quality. Having just one of those who can talk to and lead the other three will make a huge difference. It will come good in the end.
