  1. Are you saying that Cortese was the reason a football team got results and moved up the leagues? How many goals did he score? Adkins and the team were the reason we got promoted. Cortese spent someone elses money to bring in the players for Adkins to use. Honestly ask yourself do you think if we had no money Cortese could do the same results? If you have unlimited funds to do a job then you have to be pretty **** to fail at it...
  2. Again having someone elses money to use to upgrade things is not an achievement. It is like me driving a busted up car and replacing it with a Porsche after I inherited some money. I did not buy that from within my own means, did not work my ass off to pay for it. Without Markus' money Cortese would not have been able to do any of the things he has been able to do. I give him credit for bringing Markus to the club but if anyone on earth was in that position they would of been able to do it. Thus it isn't an achievement.
  3. Without someone elses money he would not have done the things he has done here. Building new facilities with someone elses' money is not an achievement.
  4. 100% agree. A club is more then it's league position. Would you rather sit 1st have no soul and be hated by everyone or be last have dignity, respect and be praised by the community for how you act? We have no say in how the club is run, have no say in who stays and who goes. We have no respect for staff, previous players, the fans and people who have done good things here. Who would want to support something like that?
  5. If that is true that he found out on tv then sorry I don't see how anyone could defend the way Cortese has acted. If you want rid of him then fine but do it in the right way with the respect EARNED from two promotions and having the club sit 15th in the PL. Adkins did not deserve that at all.
  6. Plus also Pardew had not delivered two promotions back to back and had the club 15th in the premier league. Pardew going was harsh but understandable. Sacking a guy to bring in a guy who himself was recently sacked by a relegation threatened team is not filling me with confidence. I hope it turns out well for us all but it has an erie feel to it that reminds me of when Wotte and Jan came in. They were hyped as guys who would take the club on with their total football style. Turned out to be total ******** more like. Of course it could work out and it could be a stroke of genius. But if you gamble long and often enough your eventually lose. Cortese has made a huge gamble here, he has traded stability, positivity, togetherness and a team playing well for an unknown quantity. If it goes balls up then the view he knows what he is doing and is a good businessman will well and truley be gone.
  7. Would not be surprised to see him go to Newcastle. **** that would **** Pardew off i'm sure!
  8. At the end of the day you can't blame him. He could of been a bit more respectful and not opened negotiations while there was another guy already in the job. He is here now and we need to get behind him like we have every other manager who has been here. Time will tell if it was the right decision or not and I hope for all our sakes it is the right one. However not speaking English will be a huge problem I think.
  9. Looking forward to what Benali says......
  10. Which raises the question what was his expectations and if they were realistic? Surely surviving was the expectation? If Cortese honestly thought with the squad we had just before the season started we were a top 8 finish certainty then he is more crazy then we think....
  11. The Pardew comparison is wrong in my opinion. Pardew failed the season before to get the team promoted. He started the following season badly. While the last game was a win the games previous to that were not great. He did a great job here but he didn't meet expectations. Adkins did. There is a huge difference.
  12. Gutted for the guy. Get two promotions back to back and get the team to 15th on the back of draws against Arsenal and Chelsea and get fired. It is a dark day for football here on the south coast as we have now joined the crazy train that is modern football. Before we were outsiders laughing at other teams who changed managers all the time. I thought we were different, we had a guy in charge who had been with us in our rise from the depths. Shared in the journey with all of us. A great guy who always seemed friendly and positive and deserved better. This shows there is no loyalty in football anymore, makes you question why you care anymore, why you put in the vast amounts of money to watch them anymore. Some people such as Frank wonder/ laugh at those who put emotion into it and think it is silly. Well I say the day I don't have emotion towards the club is the day I no longer care about it. And decisions like this bring you closer to that day. Thanks for everything Nigel, hope you get a great new job soon and are shown more loyalty and respect then what you were shown here.
  13. It may turn out to be the right decision. Time will tell. But it also might turn out to be the wrong decision too. A good point that Jamie Redknapp made was that by sacking Adkins the expectations have changed. Adkins was expected to keep Saints up. He got them to 15th and we were looking like pressing on from there. The new guy is not being brought in to simply keep us up he is being brought in to try and push us on further. That is why he is here. So basically Cortese thinks the side should be higher up the table. I hope it works out but right now it looks like maddness.

    Paul merson

Listening to his comments now. "Really hope they go down" Knobber
  15. Fixed for you
  16. Just to throw in a stat. He was sacked after getting 9 points from 13 matches in November which left them bottom. Since then they have 9 points from 6 matches. Maybe we should get in whoever took over as people saying it was a really tough job...
  17. For sure. However the difference is Bielsa has more experience and is in a job right now. He has gone from Europa cup final to relegation battle so as of right now if you said would you take someone 16th in LA Liga and replace a guy 15th in the pl in his 1st season there I would say no.
  18. I hate these type of replies... For someone who pays thousands watching Saints home and away and has done for years I think I have earned the right to tell someone what I think. People bending over and taking it without a whimper is the reason this country has gone to the dogs.
  19. He may have been good then but roll on two years and he has a poor record and was sacked. If he was as promising a manager as some believe then why didn't he get a job somewhere else? He could turn out great who knows but his recent record is terrible. If he was still their manager and around 10th then you could maybe understand it. Normally you fire a manager and bring in someone who is doing better right now. This isn't the case. A Spanish friend who knows a lot about football thinks he is like Steve Bruce. Managed in the top flight after playing there and had a good season then struggled. He doesn't think he is that great at all.
  20. Had a word with myself and myself told me that if Markus family knew that fans were growing tired of the way he throws his toys out the pram they might try and stop it. After all they probably only care about the money. How much money will they make by alienating the fans?
  21. Ever heard of a thing called loyalty? And the xenophobic thing is wrong. They are saying he is not from here so thus doesn't have the same emotion as someone from here would. It isn't anti foreign it is anti decisions that make people from here look bad. We are getting a kicking in the press...
  22. Does anyone know a way to write to the owners? The way I see it is they deserve some flak for allowing a guy to have a free reign on decisions. They have kept quiet for too long imo.
  23. Disgusting decision and one that is wrong for the club on every level. Adkins had not done so great at the start but things improved and to sack him after our recent run while we are 15th is shocking. This could end up being worse then anything Lowe ever did. Cortese needs to be held accountable for decisions like these as they do not have the clubs best interests at heart. He is playing with someone else's train set and actions like these show he couldn't care less about what the fans think. I have backed the guy in the past as he has done a lot of good. But as far as I'm concerned that has now gone out the window. If he brought in a tried and tested manager with loads of experience then maybe you could understand it but this guy is a nobody with a poor CV. It is up there with bringing in the dutch clowns. Things like this make me ashamed to be a Saints fan. All the togetherness, positivity, consistency and happyness thrown away by a mad egotistical foreigner. Time for Cortese to go.
  24. Exactly. That is why it was a botched launch. For the first year on sale the ps2 outsold it. The same thing is happening with the vita. The bog standard ds is out selling it. Sony cant afford to run them at a loss this time as they have no money. A failed launch will heap so much pressure on them. The ps3 is awesome. But the failed start meant it always played catch up to 360 and wii.
  25. Well then we agree to disagree I think Guly has done nothing but run around. Gaston has assisted people and scored goals himself. He doesn't do the defensive side of things but that isn't his job. In today's game Guly took the free kicks/corners and tried to do some crosses and pretty much all of them were bad. Gaston has not set the world on fire yet but he has done far more in games then what Guly has. So to be on par or equal he (Guly) would have to set up some goals and scored some himself. He has not done that.
