Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"
St Marco replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
How is it not match fixing? Your trying to imply match fixing = end result. Which isn't true. Saying your kick the ball out at xyz seconds and then doing it is still "fixing". -

It is betting a lot of money on a game you play in and making sure you don't lose that bet. There are lot's of different types of fixing but it is still fixing. It is trying to get money dishonestly. -

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1210882/Football-legend-Matthew-Le-Tissier-admits-10-000-Premier-League-betting-scam.html I think making a bet on when something will happen then trying to make that thing happen at that time is "fixing" no? This was interesting too http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4422469/Football-betting-scandal-Claus-Lundekvam-spot-fixing-claim.html Point is MLT will always be a legend but nobody is perfect, not even le god. To keep taking a pop at others when your no angel yourself is a bit hypocritical. -

Cool. Personally I think the more he goes on about it the more of a knob he looks. For someone who has admitted match fixing I think it is best he keeps his free speech to himself as who is he to judge others. Happy to hear from Matty but would be nice for it to be on something else about our club for a change. -

Not think maybe the other 500 times he said in the past week was not enough? Maybe time to draw a line under it and support the club like everyone else? -

How long before we all calm down on this forum
St Marco replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
Think I still think the same really. Chairman has huge goals for the club and thinks someone more likely to reach those targets should be in charge. A big gamble that will either pay off or not. But the way Adkins was treated was harsh and he didn't deserve that after what he has done here. Nothing we can do though so just have to get on with supporting the club and the new people in charge. -
But you see my point. You can't offer something you can only offer if certain conditions are met. What is to say the same thing happens next time and they have to have Lib Dems to get into power again? Obviously they wouldn't want the vote so again it would be scrapped. Those who voted Conservative might have only done so based on getting the EU vote. This is what angers me about politics today. They just make up a whole list of stuff to offer to the people that sounds great and then won't do any of it when they get in power. There needs to be a better way to hold these people accountable.

BWP and Dyer would be proud of that one

I think having a vote on it is the right thing to do. Times are different now from when they last had a vote. However I think Cameron using it as a blackmail tool will seriously backfire against him and the torries. He promised it before the last election and didn't honor it so why would he do so next time? He will get another term and then find a way to back out of it, then dangle it in front of the people once more at the following election. If Labour had any balls (not that one) they would come out and say they will offer the vote within 12 months of being in power and Conservatives would then be in deep ****. Sooner this guy is gone the better

Reading the scouse forum I think it is pretty safe to say if we beat them to getting him they would have a meltdown on there. Fingers crossed it happens then

Are people beginning to see what Cortese is up to?
St Marco replied to ByTheGolacs's topic in The Saints
I think we all understood the plan. It is exciting to see where we are headed. But I think there is a right way of going about things and the way Adkins was sacked was not the right way. I hope we do go on to bigger and better things but not by burning bridges and forgetting those who helped us to get there. -
Of course they are. The point is how do you define a big club. The way some talk I.e the guy who called me a skate....imply that this is a parameter that cannot change. It stays the same forever. So by that logic clubs that are smaller cannot become big and clubs that are big cannot become smaller. Villa are a club which has done very well in the past. They won a European cup. But does that mean if you win that cup you then become a big club? Cortese obviously has high expectations for Saints. Say his plans come to fruition and say in 10 years time we get a cl place. In that time Villa do what we did and get relegated for the first time and free fall. Because they would be in a lower league does that then stop them being a big club? So I asked a question how do you define being a big club. I didn't say they were not a big club. Some seem to think winning a cup/league is what defines a big club. Which in some cases is true. But if someone won something nearly 40 years ago does that still matter today? Football has changed a lot in that time and continues to change. In 1982 Man Utd had won only 6 league titles. Villa had equal titles and equal European titles. The clubs were pretty much on par. But since then Man Utd have gone on to win 13 league titles, 4 European titles, 7 fa cups, 4 league cups, and a world club cup. Villa have in that time won 2 league cups. Leicester have won it twice in that period. Does that then also make them a big club? In my view as shown Man Utd are a big club. A giant if you will. But winning trophies is not an indicator of how big a club is. Newcastle have won jack **** for 50 years so by that logic they wouldn't be a big club. Which would be stupid. Football changes as time goes by. Teams that did well and were well supported in one era can be a shadow of themselves in the next. Smaller teams become bigger as they progress and expand. Look at us, Brighton and Reading all along the south coast. 10 years ago we were playing in a 15k stadium. Now we are in a 32k stadium. That shows the club is growing. The same goes for Brighton and Reading. So if we continue to grow at what point do we go from average club to big club? In 10 years time who knows what will happen. But if we progress at the rate we have over the last three and Villa continue at their rate over the last three then you would imagine we would be more successful in terms of league position, attendance, quality of players etc then them.
-
Don't need to reel off facts or anything like that. Simply asked you how you defined what makes a club "big" and you felt you didn't need to explain because your Cb Fry and anyone who doesn't agree with you is instantly wrong.
-
How do you define bigger? We have a pretty similar attendance average (in fact we have a better % then them).
-
I think the difference is he was at Norwich when there was little pressure on him to get results in league one. He had time and money to build a team designed to get to the PL. Sort of like how Adkins was. In the lower leagues if you have a bad run of games you can make it up as the teams are all very similar in quality. So starting there is going to be more forgiving then starting in the PL with a team from scratch. That is when you find out how good a manager really is when they move to a new team.
-
Well done Bradford Have to say if Lambert isn't sacked after that they are gone this year. The loss isn't what matters it is the fact they played with zero tactics, no formation and no desire. Poor poor manager.
-
Villa are sooooooo ****. No tactics or anything. Lambert is a dead man walking imo.
-
Nice looking plane. Wonder if Cortese is flying it?
-
You cannot be serious? MP said he had been researching the team for weeks. Bit of a coincidence don't you think?
-
I don't use twitter. How would not following him on twitter stop him talking to the press exactly? As for the how can he sort it out thing do you have any proof of that? Cortese has remained silent the entire time. He has not gone to the media to take a pop at MLT. Sorry but if you have a problem with someone and think the right way to deal with it is to constantly slag off that person then I could understand why they had a problem with you in the first place.
-
Cortese is a complete knobhead and in my view has acted like an unrespectful **** with the way in which he sacked Adkins. Bringing someone else in while they are still here is just wrong. Adkins deserved better. That said... We all knew who would be the most vocal about this. The same three who have been commenting on an almost monthly basis it seems. This was like their xmas came early for them. As someone else said on another website MLT is saying Cortese has an ego and slagging him off in the paper/media every chance he get's. That sort of makes Matty look a bit of a bully himself. If he has a problem with Cortese then deal with it behind closed doors. The world doesn't need to hear his view repeated over and over and over. We get it you don't like him. Move on.
-
Someone on the radio made a good point in that pretty much every manager who has come to England and couldn't speak English was fired from that job within a year. Communication is vital to anything and if you can't get your plans/points across then how are players going to understand? I hope we can push on from here but I can't help thinking this will be the ultimate shot to the foot. When the season is said and done this will either be looked at as a great decision or one that un-did three years of going forward. If we do go down I think it is pretty certain pundits and media will remind the world every chance they get what a bad move it was.

But it is the point. Lowe was a total gimp but he built the club up. We stayed within our means for most of it. We would battle relegation and buy cheap players and sell them on. That was how it was. It sucked for us sometimes but it kept us going and kept us in the PL for so many years. Lowe then got something's wrong (managers), we ended up being relegated and the rest is history. Cortese has not made us live within our means. We have spent a lot of money. We have loans that nobody knows what for. We have gone to court because we have not paid bills on services the club had done etc and now we have traded stability, positivity, togetherness and most of all a good footballing side for the unknown. Point being living within your means is hard. Living on someone elses money is easy.

Who gave Cortese the ability to hire and fire someone?
