Pretty sure most of those seats were in the away end so love how you try and spin it as a negative. Does sound a bit anti-Saints as you don't offer any middle ground in your argument. Hate going all statistical but I think its time to show just how stupid your argument is in the hope your stop creating or contributing to these threads anymore.... Based on the last 4 home games Our capacity is 32363. So these were the attendances for the last 4 home games and what % they were Norwich = 29,325 = 91% full. Newcastle = 31,410 = 97% full. Swansea = 30,501 = 94% full Spurs = 31,944 = 99% full. So your whole criticism is based on your opinion anything other then 100% full = bad. As what is the dividing line between good and bad? Let's put the past 4 games into one big number which makes it easier to compare to other clubs. 32,363 x 4 = 129,452 seats available over the past 4 home games. 29,325 + 31,410 + 30,501 + 31,944 = 123,180 people buying seats. 123,180 divide by 129,452 x 100 = 95% of the stadium full based over the past 4 games. So then let's have a look to see how that compares to other clubs. Liverpool = 45,276 capacity Last 4 home attendances = 44,525. , 44,913, 44,803, 37,521 (Swansea) = 181,104 seats available, 171,762 seats sold = 95% full. Newcastle = 52,404 Capacity Last 4 home attendances = 43,858 , 49,403 (Swansea) , 51,855, 49,701 = 209616 seats available, 194,817 seats sold = 92% full. Norwich (one of the cheapest tickets for football in the country) = 27,303 capacity Last 4 home games = 26,288, 26,840, 26,002, 26,825 = 109,212 seats available, 105,955 seats sold = 97% Everton = 40,157 capacity Last 4 home games = 37,141, 34,502, 35,999, 39,163 (against Liverpool). = 160,628 seats available, 146, 805 seats sold = 91% full. Aston Villa = 42, 788 capacity Last 4 home games = 28,692, 34,607, 40,538 (against Man U), 33,184 = 171,152 seats available, 137,021 sold = 80% full. West Brom = 26,457 capacity Last 4 home games = 24,739, 25,933, 25,635, 24,861 = 105,828 seats available, 101,168 sold = 95% full. etc etc In fact you can do the entire league and see even teams like Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal are not 100% sold out. So to put into perspective what your saying. Your saying a % of attendance over our recent games which is higher then Liverpool, Everton, Villa, Newcastle, Wigan, Sunderland, West Brom, QPR etc is bad? Think it is safe to say your just trolling because anyone who thinks that is an idiot.

The Southampton Transfer Committee...
St Marco replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
In this day and age I don't think many clubs in the top flight let the manager pick who he wants on every transfer. I remember twitchy talking about Levy and how he goes for the players without him having much of a say. There are some decent articles about Levy and how he decides who to sign and the clubs transfer policy http://www.caughtoffside.com/2012/09/03/from-rivaldo-to-moutinho-how-daniel-levy-redefined-tottenham%E2%80%99s-transfer-policy/ being one. It makes you wonder who really does get a say on players now days. I would say Fergie, Wenger and Moyles do but everyone else it is hard to say. Man City, Chelsea etc you can imagine they get little say at all. Isn't the reason Jose is leaving Madrid (rumour) at the end of the season down to the fact he wants more say on how the club is run i.e transfers and they won't give it to him? It is just the way football is now. However looking back over the last few seasons Adkins has brought in a lot of players who never really did much. Stephens, Tafazolli, N'Guessan,Forte, Bignall, James Shea, De Ridder, Iago Falqué etc. There are quite a few others but I have selected ones who never really got much of a chance. Point being not all his choices have paid off so I think it is right we are more careful with who we sign. I believe as someone else mentioned he did go and see Mayuka play as he talked about it in an interview. Also an interesting comment he made when Ramirez was rumoured to be joining Adkins said " 'Until the pieces of paper are signed you can never say it's done but the chairman is working exceptionally hard behind scenes, backing us in what we do" That to me suggests Adkins has more of a say they some give him credit for. -
To be honest i'm happy with a 1-0 loss. Keeps our gd down and doesn't destroy morale. The game was pretty poor in honest and the players look knackered. The next two games are huge for us. Both teams around us so we need to win or we could start getting cut adrift again.
-
Anything other then a loss would be an amazing result. I disagree about the Gazza thing above. It isn't the mistakes it is his overall level of ability that worries me. He is poor at coming for crosses, poor at kicking, poor at passes to the full backs, not very good at starting positions and doesn't seem to have much upper body strength. He spills way too many shots. Point being there are too many areas he is not good at and they are being exposed. Anfield is a very hostile place and the atmosphere could cause his fragile confidence even more damage. Time to put Kelvin back in there and play with the same outfield team as we have the last 4 games.
-
Bartoz is actually a good keeper. He is doing very well at Notts County. I think the difference is with Gazza we give him the chances where as with Bartoz we didn't. You can't expect a 20 year old who's only experience of football is a few games in league two to do well in the pl. The decision itself defies belief. Again that is not me slagging the kid off. Because with that amount of experience you will make a lot of mistakes, it is natural.
-
Gave it to Shaw. He did fantastic today. I Think we have another gem on our hands. He used his head with decisions and didn't make rash or stupid tackles. Stayed on his feet and used his strength. The rest did ok in patches but he really stood out today. Well done to the lad.
-
Don't like to criticise players especially ones so young but he was poor tonight. As mentioned above it isn't just the saves it is many other things. His kicking is bad and makes poor decisions which have put defenders under huge pressure. Coming for crosses with not really knowing where to go or what to do. When he comes for the ball I have to be honest and say I expect him to **** it up and a lot of the time he does. His positioning is also bad. Again I don't mean to be harsh but right now he is way out of his depth. I try and think of his strengths and really can't think of any. He is young and unexperienced and needs a lot of work. The question is should he be doing that work at this level right now? I don't think so. Some positions you can bring in youngsters i.e defence as they will have others helping them out, they will cover for them. Shaw made a few mistakes but overall he has done very well. You have confidence in him to do the right things when they need to be done. With Gazza it is a different story. You can see he has no confidence and the problem is that can spread to the team. After that goal went in I felt we lost our way. We never really recovered and at times I felt we were going to lose it. He might turn into a decent player one day but I think the pl isn't the place to teach a gk how to play. He has made 4 or 5 personal errors now which have been punished. He needs to learn and I think that should be done by sending him out on loan this season. Time to call Kelvin back in and then in january spend some money on a proven keeper.
-
For some on here it seems a really important thing and for some it doesn't. This isn't about Cortese as such but more about chairman in general. Me and a mate were trying to think of any chairman we liked in our lifetimes and can't really think of any. So I think from our point of views whoever is the chairman/owner can be a knob but as long as we watch good football and our money is not wasted on awful players then we couldn't care less. Be interesting to see in a number % what Saints fans think. So maybe a simple yes/no poll would be good mods

Ricky is a total legend but he looked shot as **** in that fight. The point of boxing is to box, throw punches and not take them. Ricky had no defence, no head movement, no punch power, no speed, no acuracy, poor timing. And thats against a pretty average fighter. His trainers should of told him straight that it isn't there anymore and not to take the fight. I got huge respect for the lad and hope his life is better now but I still can't help thinking it was a cashin fight. If he continues then his legacy will be destroyed.
-
To try and play down what he did here is really silly..... People need to go back in time and remember exactly where we were just a week before kick off that season. We had a total shell of a club, no staff, awful players who did terrible in the championship the season before, players on the verge of leaving. He stopped both Lallana and Davis leaving. He then brought in the backroom staff and playing staff that got the club moving forwards. He brought in guys like Lambert, Fonte, Puncheon etc and they are all still doing a job for us now. We had our first day out at the new Wembley and won our first cup for nearly 30 years. Sure we didn't start the second season very well but I think we still would of cruised the league in the end. The problem is league one is a lot more difficult then some give it credit. Even Adkins said we would win it but didn't. If he now left would people say he did crap because we only finished 2nd? I will give him an applause prior to kick off but then after that hope we stuff his side 5-0....
-
That just shows how deluded they are. We played orient on a monday in our first season in league one with the minus 10 and had 22k there... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/8598508.stm Huge huge club Pompey are. If only our fans turn up like they do then we would be the bestest....
-
And the positivity after a win is dead. Cheers Matty So if Adkins was not picking the team but now is then what is the problem? Or is it when we lose again then Reed or Cortese is picking who plays again? In the modern day world of 24/7 news that type of thing would come out easily. It would not stay in the realm of rumour for long at all. While Cortese is a bit of a knob head I think that is pretty clear I dont think he would interfere in the way some try to suggest. It does make me laugh that as soon as we do slightly better its now Adkins managing the team again. Even though it its the same system and players from the start of the season. The difference being injured players have come in i.e Cork and players who are doing not so well dropped i.e Fox and Ward Prowse...
-
If you can't see what is negative in your statement then you really do need help as trolling so much has meant you now do it without even knowing your doing it!
-
Just on the train home now and thought we were superb. In every area we were better then them including the support. They are up there with the worst fans I have seen. Zero support at all. Even when we go behind we stay behind the team. Our fans were amazing and I just wish I could afford to go to more away games this year! Puncheon was motm by far but I think Cork and Morgan deserve some praise too as they worked very hard for each other and tried to stop them playing. Defence wise we looked a lot better but Yoshi got caught out a few times which is a bit worrying. I think in January if he has not improved his concentration then he will be the one to be making way for a new defender. When Rickie went to the ground after scoring his goal I thought he was badly injured as don't see him go stay on the ground often. Thank feck he was alright as that was a scary moment. If we lost him then we really would be up against him. Also I noticed that 4 of the next 5 games are at home so we should hopefully start picking up the points needed to get away from the bottom three. Well done Saints and well done Nige for not doing some odd tactics after we were winning again. I think he is finally learning!
-
Jesus you really don't give up on your campaign do you? Even on a positive day you try and get a negative in there.... You do realise that the way we set up today was pretty much the same from the start of the season minus a few injuries i.e Yoshi and Cork? You have already been proven wrong on this Nigel was not allowed to manage thing so give it a rest mate as it is getting boring to read every week.

The club have let themselves down and I said that above. Im not defending them at all ad it is unprofessional. After all if you believe you dont owe someone money then why not contest it? It seems a misjudgement by someone at the club. However all im saying is companies go to court all the time. Believe me it is very common. I would say on average our company goes to court about 4 times a year. Im sure bigger companies it is a lot more. 9 times out of 10 it is due to someone thinking they are owed money. Companies have this weird thing where the sue each othet but yet maintain healthy relations. For example when patents are violated i.e Samsung and Apple. But they still use each other for various things like the ipad screen is made by Samsung. So im not defending the club far from it but simply saying any company going to court over an unpaid bill isnt really anything to worry about.
-
The point was Kraken companies get into disputes all the time it is apart of being in business. They dispute many things from money to other things. Apple recently got in trouble for they way their staff are treated in their Foxcon factories. One person commited suicide due to the conditions. But would you say Apple were a bad company? Does them goung to court and losing mean they are now in trouble? As I said it is ****ty that the club didnt defend themselves but to try and paint it as unusual or not common is wrong. If you google Man City your see they were ordered to pay £20k to a company who supposedly did some stadium maintanence. Does that now mean they have no money and are a company in trouble? As Frank pretty much said those who want to make a big deal out of it will. But the fact no other papers or media outlets have run it show just how unimportant it is...
-
While I think it is hard to say if we have a money problem I do think the way we get our money has now changed. I don't think Markus' family put the money into the club anymore or maybe not as much as they did. While this doesn't mean we are poor it does mean we are not as rich as we thought we were. But what I do think needs to happen is Cortese needs to come out and make a statement on what's happening in the club with the finances. If we are on our own then so be it. I think it's important to know what the people who own the club are thinking rather then continue in the complete silence we have had pretty much since Markus died.
-
Oh Turkish and Kraken.....how one sided can one sided get? People go to court all the time over disputes. Companies do it all the time. Nobody knows the real story here but I love how you jump to the 'victims' defence so easily without knowing the facts. There could be billions of reasons why SFC (not cortese as again Turkish tries so hard to imply) didn't want to pay. Obviously they were not happy about something. The thing that is bad is not that they didn't pay as that happens everywhere. I'm sure your find court orders from most clubs having to pay someone. That is how business works, companies argue over everything. The thing that is bad is that if we felt so strongly that we shouldn't have to pay then why did we not send a defence? That is what I find ****ty and from a business person point of view that is very un-professional. If you believe your being short changed then you fight it and prove your point in court. So this is a dumb thing the club has done but it isn't the redemption that people should be believed as Turkish tries to suggest. As this was not mentioned at all by anyone anywhere. So to try and imply you told people is pathetic. Everything you have said that was a 'rumour' has been a lie so do us a favour a drop the whole you deserve credit bull****.

Even though for some it is the end of the world right now I am enjoying being back in the PL. The two Manchester games although loses will always stand out for me. Seeing Rickie run into our fans at City was such a great moment. I still think this season will turn out all right in the end. If we stop shooting ourselves in the foot by making amateur individual mistakes then we will be fine. If we get relegated then so be it. It will be a lesson learned for those running the club and hopefully open their eyes to how difficult the league actually is. But even if we do go down it won't be anywhere near as bad as the last time we went down. That was one of the worst moments of my life. So many years we just made it that you kind of got used to thinking we would always survive. To then actually go down was as dark a time as I can remember. And what followed well that was just as bad. If we do go down at least we won't have the in-fighting and squabbling like before. Cortese won't turn up to an AGM with a letter from some anonymous person saying how great he is....
-
There are no dark forces just people upset they are no longer on the gravy train. Beyond this board I have yet to meet anyone (supporters) who is ****ed off with the club, the chairman, the owners, the tea lady etc. Most just seem disappointed at the way we have started the season. In the old days that would just be normal football talk for us as how often did we start the season well? But now a loss to a team = some have to press the conspiracy/rumour button. I miss the days when we just talked about football
-
I imagine sky told them what they could or couldnt do in regards of promoting the shows and one of them crossed the line. I dont think it is to do with sky being aware of it. They hack peoples phones so pretty sure they know about it Jeff lives just down the road from me so if i see him i will ask him. But im guessing its got to do with people wanting more money somewhere...
-
Can you blame them when all we seem to get is trolls trolling with what is obvious bullsh.it and a few trying to defend the obvious bullsh.it even though they know really it is bullsh.it? For too long the mods have let Turkish and co say whatever they want without habing to back up a single thing with any evidence at all. And as each has been debunked a new one appears. Even the level of bullsh.it has reached an all time low. Like the thing about the spoon. Embarasingly I asked someone who works there (Emily Webb) if it was true and shock horror she laughed at me for even thinking i had to ask if it was true... So I dont think the forum has declined because people question certain posters sources as you try and imply. I think it is dying because people are ****ing bored of reading the same negative **** by the same negative people and then getting abused or shot down for trying to suggest they might be wrong. Look at the threads and your see the same users dominating everyone of them. Its the same **** just a different thread title. You could start a thread with any title and eventually it will turn into a anti Cortese thread. But yep everyone left because people dared to question certain posters info....
-
And I know 2 people who left and 1 who still works there. None have said anything bad, at least not to me. If these people feel so hard done by then why don't they do something about it? As I said earlier why is it everyone seems so afraid to talk out? As you make it sound like there are hundreds and hundreds of them. Why has nobody said anything at all? Because most of it is bull****....
-
As a bloke I have only ever met him once. Based on that he is a top guy as it was at a charity golf event my company attended. However I know people who have met him and they have said he seemed a bit childish. He is no angel and he admitted he fixed games don't forget. Point being everyone has negative things about them, even you. Based on the way he has acted recently I don't think it was right nor wise of him to come out and keep bashing Cortese. Especially with cryptic messages on twitter about how we will all know one day. Well why not grow a pair and come out and say it now? What is stopping him? Has Cortese come out and actually said anything about MLT? As far as I can tell he has kept it behind closed doors. And in my opinion that is where that kind of stuff should stay. As a FAN do I care that MLT and Cortese don't get on? Not at all. Do I care that there is a dispute between Benali and Cortese abut some unpaid bill? Not at all. Do I care that Nick Illingsworth had his ticket removed and given a refund? Not at all, at least he got a refund which is more then we got when we went to a Illingsworth event...Do any of these things have an impact on the club and its progression? Not at all. As a FAN I just want my club to do well and to not charge me so much to see them play. We have gone from -10 in league one with a shell of a club to sitting in the pl after 2 back to back promotions. Based on that does that mean the way Cortese runs the club is working? Would other clubs love to trade positions with is? How many would trade their chairman for ours? I imagine Bournemouth fans would in a heartbeat! Who Cortese likes or dislikes is nothing to do with us. I imagine if we got a nice chairman who was nice to everyone and run the club that way we would still be in league one and people would be *****ing about something else. Is there really anything to complain about? A couple of results will see us move up the table. Then what? Your say Les Reed did a great job and so did Cortese? Somehow I doubt it....
