Or if we give corners make sure someone is marking the leagues top scorer....
-
First half I think it was Rafael had a shot which he saved with his knees that went for a corner. Second half I think it was Cleverly had a shot from 35 yards out which he saved again with his legs and bounced just beyond the penalty spot. Thankfully nobody was there. Go back and re-watch it and your see there was about 4 long shots which he never caught any. All parried and all back into the danger zone. Im a huge fan of Davis so i'm not blaming him at all but he is poor with long shots.

First off well played lads, they were awesome. Clyne, Lallana, Lambert and my motm Puncheon. They were so good and watching them at times made you feel proud at the way they were playing. To lose 2-3 after that is harsh. BUT There is no-one to blame but Adkins for that result. This isn't an Adkins out thing so don't get it wrong....But the three things that were working was Lambert,Puncheon and Lallana. They were struggling to stop them getting forward. Why the **** did Adkins change the three things that were going right? That is up there with the most barmy decisions I have seen as a Saints fan. I can understand taking Rickie off as maybe he was knackered but the others seemed fine. Why switch to an all out defence with basically 20 mins to go? We went from attacking and giving them problems to giving them the ball for the last 20mins and hoping they don't score. When things go right and managers make the right decisions then they should be praised but when they get it wrong they deserve criticism. Davis did well with the penalty but again his kicking and long distance saving is woeful. I just can't believe Adkins...

Overall very happy with the signings. Probably the best transfer window in my life time. The players we have brought in should enable us to play good attacking football. Only concern is this now puts huge pressure on Adkins to deliver. He has spent probably around £30m which is would put us amongst the highest spenders. I'M sure Cortese has probably set a target after spending so much just like he did with Pardew.

Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan
St Marco replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
There has been. We bought Jay Rod and Clyne and could possibly be getting Phillips. Snodgrass who was joint top assist moved to Norwich. Mathew Lowton gone to Villa, Nick Powell gone to Man Utd, Gael Bigirimana gone to Newcastle, Jacob Butterfield gone to Norwich etc etc. There are loads of players as you can see here http://www.soccernews.com/soccer-transfers/english-premier-league-transfers/ -
Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan
St Marco replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Your entitled to your opinion but your putting Sharp and his abilities down. Last year in the championship which is one of the hardest leagues in the world Sharp scored 19 goals in 30 appearances. Mayuka scored 9 goals in 34 games in the swiss league which is ranked the 14th league in europe. So if you said to me who would you rather have a guy who has a 63% strike rate in the championship last year or a guy who has a 26% score rate in the swiss league last year who would I choose? As you would say I know who I would choose... -
Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan

Not knocking the lad but **** there is some serious spin on this....firstly he was joint top scorer with 6 other players. You make it sound like he was the best thing in that tournament. He had 6 games and scored 3 goals. Christopher Katongo scored 3 goals and won the player of the tournament award. Houssine Kharja scored 3 goals in 3 games, by your logic does that make him god? -

Would prefer him to stay to be honest. Did very well for us last season and think he would do alright for us in the PL in the scrappy games. He gives us a different option up front. Of all the strikers i'd rather Guly went. He is our weakest striker imo. -
If true then goodluck to the lad. Joined when we had a shell of a club and helped hugely in our rise back up the tables. Always seemed professional and gave it his all. Will do very well for Charlton.

Whenever I listen to him commentating on a game I do wonder if he will kill himself at half time as he always sounds so negative and depressed.

How the Bolonga fans and the chairman celebrated after the signing was announced to them.....

Emmanuel Mayuka - Officially Signed on OS - Work Permit Confirmed
St Marco replied to S-Clarke's topic in The Saints
Naturally people won't like what I said but put it this way. When we signed Due Ridder people were saying the same things. The guy is a gamble and to look at it with a bit of caution is right. I think a lot of you are playing the man rather then the ball. The guy is a striker not a winger. Even Adkins refers to him as a striker and a front man. To say he plays on the wing isn't quite true. To say he is effective from the wing is bull**** as none of us know. The lad scored 9 goals last year in the 14th ranked league in Europe. The top scorer is nearly 34 and scored 24 goals. Showing pace does not mean goals. Experience means goals. And that is the point of what I said. Should we be taking chances on guys unproven at this level and play them out of position or should we be looking at bringing in slightly older more experienced players and play them in their natural positions? Now who knows what will happen in the rest of the window but if this guy is our potential main winger for this season then I'd be surprised big time. -

St Marco replied to S-Clarke's topic in The Saints
Let's be honest here this could be another of Niges gambles. Naturally I hope the lad does well and he has potential but we all thought that about other players like Deridder. By all accounts he is a striker, not a winger. We are already playing players out of position and its not going so well. Adam should of stayed on the wing and Jay should be up front. If Burley made signings and played them out of position he would of got slated for it. I don't see why we should be any different with Adkins. The guy comes from a lot less competitive league and making the leap to premiership is huge in my opinion. We can't keep buying players and hope they Can convert to a winger. We need to buy someone who is experienced and specialises in that position. Phillips would of been ideal but if not him then the Ramirez deal has to go through or we will basically be going half the season hoping somE strikers can play on the wing. Experimenting in the championship is one thing but doing it in the premier league is something else. I got nothing against the lad and wish him all the best but should we really be looking at more strikers? Of all the positions its the one we have most cover in already Lambert, Lee, Sharp, Jay Rod, Guly, and now Myuka. That's before you consider 2 strikers are still on the books and are out on loan. We shouldn't be happy that we are signing people simply for the sake of signing people. We should be happy we are signing people to make our weak areas more stronger. I fail to see how this signing does that? -
Sooo many games to pick from. From the Nes era Mario Bros, Kung Fu, Double Dragon Amiga era Super Cars, Kick Off, Altred Beast, Golden Axe, Dogs of War, Ikari Warriors, Chambers of Shaolin Mega Drive era, Mercs, Streetfighter, Toe Jam and Earl, Desert Strike, Mortal Kombat

I think it still has a good chance going through as Clarke says. We have been in this position before with other players and have ended up getting them after a long drawn out process where it looked like we would get him then it seemed dead. If you think about it we are actually in the driving seat with this one. They have financial problems and by all accounts need to raise cash. We have agreed terms with the agent and player. We have put in our last offer with a take it or leave it condition and it seems they want to use the media to say they won't accept it. Nobody from our side has commented at all on the whole thing. It is all coming from their chairman pretty much. As the time ticks away we will get towards the transfer window closing and they could possibly end up having to keep a player unhappy after their chairman changed the details of the deal. Little interest from other clubs wanting to match the valuation. So they could potentially be going 4 months with no money and a ****ed of player putting in **** performances which lowers his value. I can imagine this week we will be linked to other players which will put even further pressure on their chairman. Because in all honesty if we have £13m to spend on an midfielder there are a lot of other quality ones out there for that amount. Anything can happen in the next week but I got a feeling this is not the end of it.

Fifa 12 Amazon trade in deal for £19.95 (360)
St Marco replied to St Marco's topic in Computer Games
It was £17.80 I think for PS3 The deal has ended now as I guess it got hammered. No way in hell Amazon will sell old Fifa 12's at a profit. Can still trade them in for £8 but I'd guess other places might give you more. UkHotdeals is awesome for stuff like that. -
Have to remember we live in a different time to when we were last in the PL. We live in a news 24/7 world with social media meaning if anything happens at anytime it will be all over the web. Pretty sure loads of deals go tits up at every club its just we hear more about them now through things like twitter. Nothing to be worried about or think we are a unique case.
-
Just thought I would post a deal here for you guys. If you want to get rid of your old fifa 12 (as fifa 13 out in a few weeks) then Amazon are doing a trade in deal where they will give you a £19.95 credit if it is in as new condition (no scratches) or £14 if it is a bit fooked http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/amazon-giving-19-95-trade-for-fifa12-360-1292849 Have to say thats a pretty **** hot deal right there

Not true Our first season in l1 we had an average of 20k. Second season we had 22k. Last year in the championship we had 27k.

I think this thread is a bit premature then as your trying to make a point based on something that hasen't actually happened yet. If we get to kick off and it isn't a near sell out then i'd be surprised. But with 5 days to go anything could happen. As to why it has not sold out yet I haven't a clue, sure people have many different reasons. People on holiday, people poor after having a summer holiday, spent money on the olympics, waiting until match day etc etc. Pretty sure not being a sell out almost a week before the game is normal for all clubs? I noticed loads of empty seats in the Everton vs United game.
-
I was one of those people who said we would get near sell outs every home game and by the looks of it it's only a few thousand from being a sell out with 5 days more of selling to go. What i'm interest to know is what happens if the game is a sell out? Will you then create a thread saying those who thought the games wouldn't sell out were right? Or is this one of those safe trolling threads where no matter your opinion or attack your free from criticism when your wrong?
-
Great performance by the lads and shows a few of our resident mongs who keep banging on about it being boring in the pl are talking ****e as normal. If we play like that every week we will be alright. They had an offside goal and we should of had a defo penalty. The ref was **** today I felt. Every 50-50 decision went their way and too many legal jostles were given as free kicks to them. If it was the other way around sure Mancini would of said it was a poor display by the officials. My only concerns were Guly and Kelvin. Kelvin had a poor game other then the penalty save. Too many punts out of play and flaps at the ball which on another day would of been punished for. He could of come for the cross that fox headed as was in the 6 yard box. Needs to show a bit more confidence in the area. In the PL you make mistakes you get punished. Guly to his credit ran around pretty much non stop. He put in a huge effort and should be praised for that. But he isn't a Drogba style player, he can't get high balls and keep it down then bring others into the game. Until Lambert came on I don't think we looked as though we would score. So not really a dig at Guly more of a dig at where he was asked to play. Hopefully it shows Adkins that a bit more positivity will mean we can get goals in this league. Citeh only had 12 goals against them at home all last year. I think if anything this shows to the chairman that with a few additions we could be a decent side. Add Phillips and Ramirez then a CB and a few cover positions and we should stay up more comfortably. I hope we get those guys in as it will help us to keep the ball a bit better imo.

Going for 16th as things stand.
