  1. That's pretty poor right there and surprised the media have not picked up on it. Taking money that was donated with the intention of helping a charity is disgusting. For that thought to even cross their mind says what kind of people they are. No different from stealing one of those charity money pots you see in shops. I actually hope they go under now as they will keep doing stuff like that if allowed to continue.
  2. Just thought I would show people what finishing 17th normally means 2010-11 - Wolves finish 17th, next year they were gone 2009-10 - West Ham finish 17th, next year they were gone 2008-08 - Hull finish 17th, next year they were gone 2007-09 - Fulham finish 17th, next season they finished 7th 2006-07 - Wigan finish 17th, following year they finish 14th. 2005-06 - Skates finish 17th, next year they finish 9th. 2004-05 - West Brom finish 17th, next year they were gone. 2003-04 - Everton finish 17th, next year they finish 4th. 2002-03 - Bolton finish 17th, next year they finish 8th. 2001-02 - Sunderland finish 17th, next year they were gone. Of the past 10 teams to finish 17th 50% did not survive the following season. So while some teams have pushed on from there such as Everton and Fulham the others have struggled with Bolton possibly going down this year. So that stat shows it is indeed possible to push on, but it is also possible to go the other way and not improve. A 50% relegation rate the following season is pretty bad. I imagine the other places are nowhere near that high. If we look at our stadium average and put it into the pl table we would be around 12th. Next year it will be higher then that. We will have a similar attendance to Everton and only a few thousand less then Spurs. We should at the very least be aiming for mid-table around 10th to 14th in my opinion. But it all boils down to our squad, if we don't add to it then we will struggle. If we get some quality players in then who knows.
  3. You are of course 100% right, the heavyweight division right now is just dreadful. I saw an interesting programme about it when I was in the states recently and they said a lot of it has to do with youngsters now picking other sports there, mainly american football or basketball. Boxing doesn't have the respect and prestige it once had and it has only itself to blame. I love boxing, I box myself as others know but as a sport it is in the gutter. We have dodgy judges, dodgy refs, dodgy promoters, dodgy boxers, dodgy doctors and pretty much dodgy everything! Look at Khans last fight. He was the champion, went to Washington to fight their local boy, had local judges of which one was as dodgy as it gets, had some supposed IBF official sat next to him at ringside talking to him about his scores, had a ref who didn't seem to know the rules and punished Khan for pushing which is correct but didn't Punish Peterson for holding and leading with his head in attempts to cut Khan. Khan won that fight even with the deductions but yet the judges gave it to Peterson....and the thing that makes it even worse is chances are he was on steroids! Those were the things that had to happen for Khan to lose and none of them should of happened. Boxing needs to change or it will just continue to fade away. There needs to be just one council not the millions there are now. It needs to follow the same set-up that football and other sports have. Needs to have less weight divisions and less belts because it makes it easy for people to duck each other. The best should be fighting the best. If Haye was decent and wanted to do it the right way he should of asked for his licence back and fought a couple of guys to get to rank one and become the mandatory challenger to either of the Klitchskos. Haye lost to Wlad, he had a poor fight. Rather then pick himself up, dust himself off, hit the gym and come back with more determination he *****ed about his toe, went to Munich to gatecrash a press conference in the hope he would anger Vitali and get his fight. Doing that itself is lame because it shows Haye would rather use his mouth to get those fights rather then his fists. If he is as good as he says then he would fight a couple of guys and put himself into contention for a title shot. But he went from that to brawling with Chisora who is a bum and setting up a so called "grudge" match.....haven't we been here before? Fraudly Harrison? Haye it is all about money. No wonder none of the ppv channels wanted anything to do with it as nobody really cares, they were stung the last time the media tried to do this angle. This fight is a joke and it's right the media here have turned on it.
  4. After watching teams like Norwich and Swansea do so well i'd say no. I don't see why we can't copy what they have done. We play a similar style of football. However.....on the flip side you have to be realistic. If we got into the top 10 and stayed there that would be just as good as our previous two seasons. We are never going to win the league but I think we need to be aiming for safe mid table next season. We have the squad and should add quality to it with our financial resources this summer, especially after the amount we will get for being in the league itself. It is going to be tough but I think we need to keep the whole progress thing going. Not sure a relegation fight would be considered too much progress?
  5. Cars parked on bits of grass and not on the road Kids on bikes at 11pm with no lights on Old people sitting in their porch/front garden watching everything that goes by as if they were a 90s gangster waiting for a drive by to happen
  6. I must of missed those fights This will however be a one sided beating. Chisora has heart but he lacks ability at the top level. He fought and lost to Fury who is a joke who dodges any of the decent fighters i.e Price. As much as Haye is a total dickhead he is a very good fighter. He hits hard and is very fast. He throws combinations rather then simple jab, jab, grab like a lot in the division do i.e Klitcshkos. If the best Haye turns up and the best Chisora turns up Haye will beat him by knockout. Would much rather have seen Haye, dump Booth and move over to a trainer like Roach, get serious and copy his friend Khan by fighting the best out there. But nope it is all about the money again.
  7. I think a huge part of the problem is that old music/film companies have an unrealistic idea of how much their product is worth. They seem to think if your a musician then you deserve to ear millions. Your cd will cost about 5p to make but they will sell it at £10. So rather then drop the price and make downloading unattractive they would prefer to keep it at the same price and stop you from downloading it by restricting what you can do. The reality is copying has been around since the dawn of time and regardless of there being an Internet will always happen. I think these companies need to wake up and realise people will gladly pay to buy music at a fair price. If a new cd was around £3 more people would buy it. If they made digital downloads around £1.50 for an album more people would buy them. People see buying music at £10+ as a gamble because there is a high chance that album will be ****. Censoring the Internet is wrong, it starts as one thing then spreads to other things. Today it is music and films, next it is porn, then before you know it any comment made anywhere on it can be removed due to it not passing censors rules. People should have the complete freedom to do what they want. But if you do something illegal then you pay the consequences for it.
  8. Maybe it is just me but couldn't care less who is the manager. Have little to no interest in international football anymore as honestly it isn't anywhere near the highest level of football. We will have a whole summer of advertising, adverts designed to make you feel proud while at the same time wanting you to buy their beer. Pundits saying it is our year then act shocked when the players looklike they can't be arsed and go out. Then they say how the leagues are to blame because not enough English players playing even though we have some of the best players in the world who seem to do well in the champions league for their clubs etc While I hope we do well, I won't feel sad nor angry when we get beat. Times have changed and the only team I really care about is Saints. I'd much rather see us play then watch the national team play. However it is funny dodgy Harry was over-looked!
  9. I'll probably vote ukip just because I think the other three are just as worse. Lib dems lied about everything and sold their soul so they could ride around in fancy cars and pretend they have power. Will never vote for them in my life and sure most think the same. Labour had plenty of time in office and have to be blamed for a lot of things such as our debt and social society breakdown. They created a lot of our problems. Torries have taken those problems and made it miles worse. Unemployment at all time high, fuel prices at all time high, cost of living through the roof, no hope for the young generation, going after sick and vulnerable people and forcing those who can't work to join the already huge dole queues. Helping out their rich friends while screwing over the normal people. Then squandering our money on stupid things such as regime changes, aid to countries like india and Pakistan and last week giving £10bn to IMF. The only reason labour have that points lead is because of how crap the Tories have done not how well labour have done. Personally I think things need to change. A system that is hundreds of years old can no longer work in the world of today. The lib dems have shown what happens when you promise lots of things and what happens when they actually get there. They should be held accountable for their actions. If you or I promised to do something to gain a new job and failed to do it we would be sacked and replaced by someone else. The same needs to happen for politicians. They need to understand that they are there to do what the people want, not to do what they want. So that is why I will vote ukip because quite frankly the three other parties have turned this country into a joke. None of them deserve my vote. It's like pick the one you think will screw up the least. It shouldn't be that way.
  10. I never understand that whole "if anyone told us at the start of the season" thing. So much has happened in the 10 months since then. We have spent a **** load on players this season. Fox,cork, jos, sharp,de ridder, lee, etc. Around £6m-£7m on players added to an already talented squad. With the squad we have we should be pushing for promotion and we have been. To do as well as we have all year then to get beat by any of the teams in the playoffs would be massively disappointing. It would be seen as huge failure and would overshadow us next year big time. For everything to remain positive we have to go up this season and we will tonight hopefully.
  11. Rant incoming You can talk about tv/refs or whatever but the fact is when we have the big games we blow it. How many games have we won against the top 7 this season? 3? Adkins totally ****ed up the subs bench by picking a defensive set up. Do Prado our only attacking player on there and he is badly out of form. If we had to come from behind to get a result he was our best option to do that?! Davis is ****ing **** when it comes to long shots and needs a pair of glasses, totally woeful keeping by him today, long ball after long ball to nobody. If he is our keeper next year regardless of league he has to stop that. A simple pass to a defender and another pass into midfield, enough of the punts to nobody. And Fonte has been crap for weeks now, doesn't look like the same player at all. He has made many mistakes recently which have really cost us. I bet Jos wants to punch him sometimes as he just loses concentration so often. People will come on and say unlucky or whatever but we should be promoted by now..... totally gutted, no doubt Adkins will come out with the robot recorded response.
  12. synchronised is my choice, classy horse and good jockey.
  13. I like the way the article is like "He has awards don't you know, you can't do that to someone with an award!" That deserves a ban all in itself. This guy needs a waaambulance
  14. I did a couple of jobs. Main one was fruit picking which I think is probably the most common for backpackers. It is pretty boring and got to watch out for bugs but pay is pretty good. Plus you get to know the people working with you quite well which helps when going off into town. Especially if your off on your own out there. The other job I did was working at a hotel as a barman. Again I imagine thats pretty common thing. Lot's of things to do there but most are boring. Someone I knew managed to get a job helping out with the some tourist adventure trip type thing, where they would go out camping and stuff like that. That sounds a lot more fun!
  15. I did the whole year out thing and worked in Oz and NZ for 6 months. As others have mentioned sort your visa out and your be fine. Loads of jobs out there for travellers such as working on farms and stuff like that. We used this site so maybe it will be useful to you http://jobsearch.gov.au/harvesttrail/default.aspx?TextOnly=0 as is this one http://www.jobs4travellers.com.au/ Loads of fun out there and you make some great friends. Of the 4 friends I went out there with 2 of them have now moved there for good. Don't blame them to be honest!
  16. Win and we are up pretty much. Would mean West Ham would have to win every game and we would have to lose every game. Would much rather end it on friday at home then going into two away games at tricky places hoping to get that win. Because if we don't and it all boils down to the last game we will be playing a team fighting for survival. We more then anyone should know when you have your last game and you need to win to stay in the division sometimes miracles can happen. Especially when it is against the top team and the odds are stacked against you. We need to avoid that situation more then anything in my opinion. So beat Reading and we won't have to worry about the next three games so much because one slip up from West Ham means we are up.

    Guly

Think some of the criticism is a bit harsh but in truth some of the blame needs to go to Adkins as he keeps playing him when it's obvious his confidence is shot and playing poor. Guly has been poor for awhile now and has to be dropped or it's going to cost us dear. The problem is he loses the ball and them just bundles the guy over. Don't think I seen a player foul as much as he does.
  18. Not much to say except Davis should of saved the first goal. No keeper should be beaten at that angle from that far out. Looking at the footage it's like he tried to do a flashy save when should of just palmed it over. Our defence was shocking at times and how Norris had that much space with a minute to go was criminal. Add to that our tactics were well and truly wrong. We put huge pressure on Lallana to create things and when he couldn't we just hoofed it. Guly was ****, de ridder was ****, Lambert looked knackered from the start, Hammond couldn't keep the ball etc. sharp cork and Lallana were the stand out players for me. It was a good game to watch and a point was a fair result. But we need to win our next two games now or we will be under massive pressure.

    Ex-Smokers

For me it was just will power, just quit at once rather then prolong it. Don't believe in those gimmicks. I tried the patches and gum and just thought it was a waste of money. Just take it each day as it comes. The first week is hell but after that it gets better and easier. What I found the hardest part was being around people who smoke. If you see or smell them while trying to quit makes it really hard! Quit 5 years ago in may, I would say its great having more money but in truth it now goes on beer!
  20. To be honest with you I actually hope Reading ****ing destroy West Ham. To me it doesn't matter if we go up as champions just that we go up. Like league one last year, we didn't win it and it doesn't really matter that we didn't. All that matters is we keep on improving. So say Reading win it would be a 4 point gap from them to West Ham and if we win our game it will be a 9 point gap (technically 10 due to our GD). With just 6 games after that they would need us to **** up 3 of them just to get back on level terms and most likely not drop anymore points at all. Their fixture list is pretty tough and contains 3 of the top 6. So if they go into that period needing us to slip up and they need to win will create huge pressure on fat sam and west ham. So really I think IF us and Reading win tomorrow we are up. A draw would be good but promotion is all that matters and if the three horse race turns into a two horse race then job done imo.
  21. What a legend. Happy birthday and thanks for everything
  22. Disagree there. I have met the guy and I know a lot of other people who have been conned by him in the past from various events. It's funny that your talking about him like he is some angel because "he get's off his arse". That must mean he is a great guy! The reality is he is an attention seeker and sometimes the way in which he has done that has bordered on the controversial. I do find it kind of funny that you are defending the guy on here but yet when it comes to Cortese you don't apply the same rule. I can imagine what you would say if Cortese arranged an end of year celebration at St Mary's for "real Saints fans" for £25 a ticket including free drink etc but when you got there it was not as advertised and the drink was actually one can each.... I can imagine you would be among the first to rush to this "spaz forum" as you called it to vent your anger of the club ripping off the fans! While some might find Nick a "nice guy" a lot of others don't. If you read his articles about the club your find quite a lot of them are negative. They put a ****ty spin on things inside the club. Some would say that is an agenda. Some would say thats just how it is over there. But saying it is the right attitude to have is wrong because pretty much everyone knew that whatever numbers were released he would of wrote something ****ty about them. Go read the article from the last time. We can all guess at what is happening inside with the finances but in the 3 years or so they have been in charge have we ever had anything even remotly happen that is the same as what is happening down the road? How many times have we heard the people in charge say the plan is to get Southampton back to the PL and make it be self sustainable? But the thing that tips it over the edge for me and shows it is just a bitter rant is does he not realise what Cortese is a specialist at? It seems he has forgotten when comparing the two that Cortese is a succesful banker from Switzerland. Now I don't know the guy but working in business myself i'm pretty sure he would not want a trainwreck of a company on his CV. As a banker i'm pretty sure he will have covered most of the situations that could happen. For example say we don't go up and we no longer have the backing of the family. We have a very talented squad who we could easily sell. We bought Lambert for £1m, how much would he be worth now? Lallana cost us nothing what would he be worth now? Point being there is nothing in his reply to even suggest ways to bring the wages down if we did go the same way. It is an "assumption". One which as always takes a negative view point. What is happening is nothing like what is happening down the road and to suggest it is really does seem desperate to me.
  23. At the end of the day who cares? If he wants to compare Markus and what he has done to what's going on at Pompey then by all means go for it. It is his own opinion and he is entitled to it. However it is a moronic view which has a sense of bitterness about it. Just his opinion.
  24. Just saw that the game "Uefa Euro 2012" is actually now an expansion for Fifa 12 and should cost around £10 to download. Have to say thats a pretty good move to make it an addon. Should be out near end of April.
