On the face of it, it would seem a poor decision by Adkins, as having to fawn at the Brighton players in the so-called guard of honour in front of thousands of mocking home fans would have been excellent motivation. However, he has to think about the rest of the season. With our injury crisis, we cannot afford to lose players to suspension, so don't want our players to be so fired up that they get themselves sent off. Perhaps a rugby-style guard of honour AFTER the game would have been a better idea.
