  1. You can't compare a LV%& Cup game with a Premier League game. Both teams were missing several players on international duty, and other first-teamers were rested, mainly by Wycombe, despite them being the home team. The competition itself is meaningless - the teams in pool 1 play the teams in pool 4, the pool 4 teams have won most of the games, so you could easily have a situation where the team that wins pool 1 has fewer points than the team that finishes bottom of pool 4. I would be more worried about the latest rugby idea being copied by football. Harlequins have been drawn at home to Wasps in the Amlin Cup quarter final (similar to Europa League, but less important) on a Friday evening in April. Harlequins are selling tickets at normal prices (plus £3 booking fee), but once 10,000 tickets are sold, prices will go up by £5, and once 13,000 are sold they will go up by another £5. The OS is predicting a sellout, but 8,000-9,000 would be more realistic, especially if the team is still in contention in the league. Normally, many fans would wait until nearer the time before deciding whether to buy tickets, but a cynic would say that the club is trying to panic fans into buying tickets now in case the price goes up.
  2. We'll just have to buy a more experienced, and physically stronger, player who actually wants to play for us.
  3. Why would we want to loan him back? If he wants to leave, let him go.
  4. No idea how reliable any of these posters are as I don't normally visit 606, but here it is anyway:
  5. If the Champions League final is on the Saturday, why is Wembley not available for the Sunday? Wembley normally manages to stage three finals in three days.
  6. Will there be any Mancs in the away end?
  7. A fourth home game against a small club.
  8. I wanted Brighton to beat Man U in 1983, but Smith didn't score.

  10. It depends what the service is. If you book your flight and hotel separately when you go on holiday and the flight is on time but there are major problems with the hotel that ruin your holiday, you can't get a refund from the airline. If you buy a package holiday your refund could include the cost of the flight even though the flight was OK if the holiday was completely ruined. If you buy the Saints Travel at the same time as the match ticket, there is an argument that you are buying a package of a ticket to the game and travel to the game. If there is no game, then logically you cannot have been provided with travel to the game. If you travel by train (tricky on Boxing Day), SWT fulfil their part of the contract by getting you to Charlton and back so obviously there casn be no compensation. Of course the Club will have protected themselves in the Terms and Conditions, so any rights will have been waived. It could be worse - apparently a rugby club in the northeast is refusing to refund the cost of match tickets to fans who can't make the new date. Instead the fans can get tickets to another home game, which is not much use to away fans who bought tickets from the home club (which is normal as there is no segregation). Having to miss the new date because you are in Afghanistan is apparently no excuse.
  11. BBC is forecasting fog all afternoon in Southampton.

  13. Weather forecast is for it to stay above freezing until about 5
  14. I suppose delaying the kick-off until 2 or 3 pm to give the ice more time to thaw is too obvious for D'Urso.
  15. But we won that match, so why should there have been any (major) trouble from Saints fans? Keeping the Skates in made sense because they were the ones more likely to cause trouble. The frustration of losing 4-1 (having played well) is supposed to be the main reason why so many Saints fans wanted a fight. (As I only have 3 posts a day - I do know that Portsmouth won the match at Fratton Park, but that was our first visit for years, and they had been in a lower division than us for so long that the rivalry was much more one-sided back then. When we lost 4-1, that was such a poor performance (probably the worst I have ever seen) that Saints fans were too numb to do anything)
  16.     Do you seriously believe that keeping the Portsmouth fans in the ground for 30 minutes would have made a difference? The Saints "fans" would either have waited for them to come out, or, if they couldn't wait any longer, would have attacked the police instead or trashed the area like the Skates did in the first Fratton Park game a few years ago.
  17. Are they selling tickets to the directors' box for £15?
  18. Peterborough have conceded 33 goals in 16 games. Do they have any "better defenders"?
  19. If Sunday 26 December isn't Boxing Day, it must logically be Christmas Eve, because 25 December is a Saturday, so Christmas Day must be the first weekday after 25 December, which is Monday 27 December. Seems simpler to call 26 December Boxing Day whatever day of the week it is.
  20. But it costs an extra £3 if you buy in advance, unless you join a stupid long queue.
  21. And nine of the grounds being used for the 2011 RWC are smaller than St Mary's.
  22. There are only about 10 good teams in international rugby, so there will only be about 6 pool games between good teams, and I very much doubt whether any of them will be at St Mary's. 32,000 will be more than big enough for the matches played there.
  23. Bompey 3 Tranmere 3
  24. Was there a second broken down train, or why did they change their minds about diverting the 2200 via Havant?
  25. Leytonstone, Ilford and Walthamstow Avenue won 7 FA Amateur Cups between them, so the Dag & Red clubs have some history.
