The original video was only 5 minutes long - this is the full 9 minutes from the original video that Southampton released in the early 80's. The extras include the team returning to Southampton, and the bus stopping at the Guildhall with the team greeting our Mayor at the time, Mary Key. I thought it would be a nice thing to upload the full version on the 40th anniversary of our win back in 1976. Hope you enjoy seeing the extra footage.......

The away fans seem to be allowed to bring in rocket flares into the ground in order to enhance the atmosphere of the stadium during the game. Well it's happened at least three times this season already, I can't believe the stewards in the away section have been so poor in their checks as the fans enter the ground before the game......

Is it true that when Alan Ball decided to join Southampton, his father refused to speak to him for a while after that?

To be fair, the draw used to only be on a Monday up to 1999, on the radio around midday. So at least the BBC are keeping with tradition and ensuring its on a Monday.

No sympathy whatsoever. He says that he preferred City because of their youth system and he quoted Micah Richards and Shaun Wright-Phillips as an example. Such a long prestigious list of players there compared to our youth system. Just goes to show that teams like City will never bring through youth players from their academy, they may as well ditch it completely. All they will do now is buy players till they are no good to them, sell them on and replace them with the next star player. And also leave the likes of us to produce our own and try and steal them when they are good enough. To me, City are like "Chsmpionship Manager on Cheat Mode" and will always be.
