Thought the lads put in a decent shift today. Thought Wanyama was decent, as was Morgan, Shaw, Fonte and Lovren. Jay-Rod, Osvaldo and Lallana extremely wasteful at times (particularly Osvaldo in front of goal) I expected it to be a draw before the match, so wasn't overly dissappointed, it could've easily gone the other way had Collins turned in that great chance they had near the end. The build up play wasn't bad, but we've got to find a way to break teams down, we're unbelievably wasteful in the final 3rd its unreal. Jay Rod in the first half running in from the left into the box, had Lambert, Osvaldo, Lallana and Morgan in the box instead tried to go round the WHU defender and got tackled. C'est La Vie.

I haven't played the demo yet, but I'm holding out for the next-gen version anyway which is meant to be vastly superior.

Terrible match. One of the worst games of football I've ever seen but pleased with the draw. Lambert was isolated for the majority of the match, and just feeding off scraps essentially. Walcott, Wilshere and Lampard's passing was absolutely woeful tonight and Walker was absolutely appalling, think he'd taken another balloon of laughing gas before the match myself. Pleased with the draw though, still think it'll be tough to qualify.

Can we accommodate SRL & Osvaldo in the same team?
BlakeySFC replied to doggface's topic in The Saints
No. SRL > Osvaldo -
Amazing news. Really didn't expect Rickie to start but I guess with the injury to Sturridge it was kind-of inevitable I suppose. Made up for him, hope he gets a hat full tomorrow night.

Going to be another tight game. I foresee another loss.

Transfer deadline day thread (Summer 2013)

We enquired about Lennon, Spurs said Fück off, that is all. -
Not surprised. With his awesome performance on Saturday how could Cesare Prandelli NOT call him up?!

That's exactly the problem MP has. He's trying to shoe-horn certain players into the team because they're new signings (which is fair enough I suppose) but its also upset the balance of the team. I can't be the only 1 that's not overly impressed with Wanyama and Osvaldo so far? Do we sign players just for the sake of it?
-
We've bought in 3 players, Lovren for £8.5m from Lyon, Wanyama for £12.3m from Celtic, Osvaldo for £12.9m from AS Roma. Only 1 of these players has actually improved the team, which is the extremely impressive Lovren. Even more pleasing to see was how dissappointed he was with yesterday's result, taking to twitter to say ' I am very dissappointed,' 'I am sure I will not sleep, good night and thank you for your support.' Such a great player, and such a great personality as well. With Wanyama and Osvaldo though, all we seem to done is upset the balance of the team. Morgan and Cork play SO well alongside one another and we've broken that key partnership up for no apparent reason just cause we fancied Wanyama. The same with Osvaldo, we've shoe-horned him in the team to play alongside Lambert, when he'd be better suited to play up-top on his own. We should've bought 1 decent championship DM and 1 decent championship Striker (Le Fondre maybe?) that wouldn't of minded sitting on the bench, playing in Carling Cup games etc. and waiting for the chance if SRL or Cork/Morgan got injured. I also don't understand why we've shoe-horned Chambers and Ward-Prowse in the team, they're not ready for the 1st team in my opinion and we should be playing our best team every time no matter what.

Can we recall Puncheon? -
Expected. Howard Webb was the ref (we've never won a match under him) plus I didn't think the team would be up for it. I was right. Haven't posted much about my predictions this season after being ridiculed last season for saying we're going to go down. That didn't happen thankfully, but I'm now going to put my neck on the line once again and say that I think we're going down this season. We've replaced all our hard-working, hungry players for a bunch of over-paid average players in my opinion. We've become another QPR, and I expect us to go down.

Capital One Cup 3rd Round Draw - Home to Bristol City
BlakeySFC replied to lickierambert's topic in The Saints
Nice easy win. May as well of given us a bye -
All our matches Howard Webb refereed last season we lost. Not a good omen.
-
Great win. I expected an easy victory (5/6-0 was my prediction before the match) and 5-1 will do nicely. Great performance and great gesture throwing shirts into the Saints fans.

Overly negative article from the Guardian in my opinion. We're 6th in the Premier League with 4 points, our best start to a PL season ever. We've improved upon results from last season (defeating our 'bogie' team of last season and bettering our home defeat to Sunderland) if we manage to get anything at Norwich this weekend it'll be absolutely phonomenal. I think the problem is the lack of goals, we've only scored 4 goals in our last 7 PL games which is an issue. Puncheon contributed 6 of our goals last season (some extremely vital) and I think it's an absolutely insane idea letting him go out on loan.

If only we had Rupert back...he'd sort out the catering.

Hope you told them to get a life.
