  1. Surely it shows ambition which according to most is sadly lacking at the club Perhaps you are right it is Pie in the Sky just like ambition
  2. Ok fair point you may not be fully ruminated but you are pretty close.
  3. I think it may be showing the signs of rumination like many other posters A lot of people sit at home, dwell on the negative and find themselves getting deeper and deeper in their depression. Psychologists call this style of repetitive negative thoughts "rumination."
  4. I do not know where we will finish but we have some decent players and we will not go down
  5. We had so many really top International strikers playing for us in the Bates and McMenemy years that some will be overlooked but of course Boyer was a top striker I remember going to Wimbledon in a FA Cup match and him scoring the winner. In those days we did not whinge much about who came to the club we used to just enjoy the football and support the team and the players
  6. Not forgetting Ron Davies Peter Osgood was really good in the 60s at Chelsea one of my favorite players he was never the same after he broke his leg For younger posters he joined Saints in 1974 when we doing pretty well but the team did not win for dozen or so games after he arrived and we got relegated although we did win the last game at Everton without Terry Paine who never played for the club again We were the first team to finish third from bottom to be relegated from Div 1
  7. I think you are slightly negative we did OK last season until the horrific run of injuries to key players and the congested fixture list culminated in our Semi Final at Wembley Our ambition over the last fifty years has been to be as competitive as possible in the top flight and I think that has been achieved as we are a well established member of the PL but not one of the top ten on a regular basis As a fan over those years I have of course had ups and downs but the ups including being at the top of the PL only for a short time last season have been worthwhile The only way for a team to regularly successful is to be in a large city with a large fanbase and a billionaire owner I have two friends one a Man City supporter and the other a Chelsea one who never believe that thirty years that they would be supporting major clubs in europe. I am fairly confident that we will be OK this season as we have some decent players who should improve to be top class players in the next couple of years Losing Ings is not the end of the world as we have £28m to invest I hate to think what I would be feeling if I had been born in Portsmouth instead of Southampton especially as Pompey we one of the top clubs in my early childhood
  8. Terry Paine and Peter Shilton
  9. Leicester now looking for CB as Fofanna has broken his leg
  10. I do not understand why anybody would boo people for taking the knee is nothing political is nothing to do with BLM it just taking a stand against racism what is wrong with that Do you really think that most of our black footballers get stick because of their colour
  11. I think if you had friends and work mates who have suffered racist abuse which has affected there lives perhaps you would have a different attitude Why do you think it is right to verbally abuse me for being appalled at the attitude of so many against footballers who are making a stand against racism and inequality
  12. Surely it is common decency to support the footballers who wish to make the lives of millions much better It just shows how morally bankrupt our country has become with posts like yours
  13. Absolute nonsense there is nothing political in highlighting the problems BAME people endure in the UK
  14. No it is not taking the knee was started by an American Footballer to highlight how badly BAME people are treated in the USA and has been carried on the UK to highlight the similar treatment that they suffer in the UK
  15. Surely just shite most of the time
  16. Or Goalkeeper too which I find strange as most on here seem to think Forster and McArthy are crap
  17. John B

    Danny Ings

So why are you so against him going to a better club with more prospects and less chance of being in a relegation fight and getting abuse from fans when things go wrong
  18. John B

    Danny Ings

I think you are probably wrong Ings just wants to see if he can get a better deal at a better club which most reasonable people have no issue with Have you never wanted to leave your current job and try to get a better one it is so common
  19. Yes that is the only one I remember
  20. The problem which you seem to have overlooked is that it is the healthy ones who have the virus are spreading it and in some cases killing people. If you do not look after yourself there is a chance that you will get Covid and may be very ill and have after affects for sometime which will put a a burden on the NHS Just think of others instead of your self
  21. That is clearly correct because it is possible to be vaccinated and have Covid that is why passports are unlikely to become law as the Labour Party agrees with what you are saying Of course we have to live with Covid but everything should be done to limit its spread but passports do not completely reduce the spread
  22. Easy to scoff but who would you play at LB in a pre season friendly
  23. I just read somewhere Kane could get £350000 per week I think the Average Weekly Wage in the UK is about £600 so to earn £350000 the average person would have to work for approx 12 years
  24. It is the UK Govt which is all over the place as it signed a Brexit deal that it probably knew would not work especially in NI and now want to renegotiate it I realise you are not stupid Lord Duckhunter but your stance on Brexit unfortunately does not bear this out
  25. As you know we are out of the EU but the fools in Govt you support now realise that the Brexit they signed up to is pretty unworkable without being iin the single market Which has been obvious to most rational observers for sometime There would be no problem of course if NI was not in the UK but is and there has to be a border somewhere and a hard border on the Island of Ireland wrecks the GFA unless the UK is in the Single Market It is just the way it is but of course you and your ilk will just continue blustering whilst thing go wrong
