  1. I would love him to stay here but for him to develop further I think he nedds to go to a bigger with better players and better coaching unfortunately. I would really be interested in what the club are planning in the next window as it is imperative that we have a top class striker available if Broja is not here as one of the reasons we are playing better as a team is because of the automatic selection of him at the moment like we were when Ings was scoring goals sometime ago
  2. So what would you have said if he had scored So what would you have said if he passed and the goal was missed Bye the way I think most players would have shot if they thought they could score especially one that had scored a screamer the week before and was high in confidence Thats just football
  3. Perhaps he thought he would score most players do when they shoot at goal
  4. it is not about liking it is about reality Redmond is just one of our better players this season and because of this we are doing better as a team
  5. I agree I think we have played pretty well all season but individual errors and A Armstrongs lack of goals has held us back
  6. I agree I think we should always prioritise Cup games I have been watching Saints since 1962 and apart from the Promotion years of 1966 1978 2009 2010 my best memories are from our successes in Cup games starting in 1963 through the Paints Trophy and the unlucky League Cup Final with Puel as manager where most other football supporters including MAN U ones thought we were robbed
  7. Originally I thought the starting XI was pants However on reflection I think Ralph's plan worked reasonably well although playing extra time was not ideal He wanted a second strength team to win the game giving fringe players a run out in order to save the experience players for Wednesday If things went wrong which they did he could bring on 5 subs in order to win the game which he did Romeu Salisu Bednerak Perraud Elyounoussi Adams played 3 minutes in total S Armstong KWP played 75 mins Broja 56 mins Redmond 86 mins JWP 120 mins So the team that plays on Wednesday is relatively fresh
  8. We were only playing against Coventry not a PL team when your comment may be more relevant
  9. I agree but has not played many top games if Wiki is to be believed
  10. Chelsea's model seems to be working well much better than ours they are currently European Champions seem to end up in the top 4 every year. They seem to sell their surplus young players regularly to top teams getting in decent transfer fees whilst we mostly give our surplus players away for nothing If I was Broja at 20 years of age with a five year contract at Chelsea where a few of their fans I have talked to think he is an outstanding talent I would not want to move to southampton
  11. I agree with what you are saying but if we did get £20m I suggest that his signing would have been a pretty good one as he cost little and probably his wages have not been huge and he has played some decent games. I am interested in what happens to Jack Stephens has he has dropped from 2nd CB earlier in the season to 4th now I think it is time for him to go as if any of the younger CBs are any good
  12. We are a lower PL club I think you are wrong to think players will stay with us when they can get paid more and win trophies and play in Europe What is the evidence for your theory especially as agents are always looking for the next pay day
  13. Why not give them a chance I for one would like to see more competition for CL places I would have thought it was quite feasible for Newcastle to be in the Top 8 in the next few years Leicester have done well and West Ham are challenging now and Newcastle have a huge amount of money behind them but of curse the club has to remain in the PL this season Both Chelsea and Man City have done really well under new ownership
  14. I was quite excited after the Swiss takeover getting top League 1 players and winning the JPT so you were not exited as we bought our way to success I find that pretty strange and feel your post is a little hypocritical most of the large clubs in the top 6 diligently scout and have well run Academies where they devolop players Thanks to Newcastle we now have Armstrong who they developed
  15. Not sure Chelsea would want to sell him to a top Eight Club
  16. My daughters brother-inlaw told me in the Autumn a Chelsea Fan ho had seen him player for Chelsea that Broja was the Dogs Bollix so I believed him
  17. The first Saints player I met was John Sydenham he had an A40 and I served him with some petrol on West End Road in Bitterne it was a Tesco's outlet when I was last in the area Terry Paine used to live near Lances Hill off Glenfield Avenue in a 3 Bedroom House named Garrincha
  18. Yes so much better than we have today Only played for England once against Egypt if I remember
  19. I saw him make his debut (taking the place of the injured Kevin Keegan) aged only 16 years and 313 days on 29 November 1980 at Old Trafford, thus becoming the youngest player to be picked for Southampton
  20. Ben Brown: Hampshire sign former Sussex captain on two-year deal Must admit never heard of him has he signed as a Batsman or Wicket Keeper/Batsman
  21. Of course we could do better if we had more financial resources and the ability to sign top class players with the promise of European football but at the moment we do not We are a bottom mid table club with bottom mid table players who have been given contracts by the club but constantly discussing their abilities is not going to make them better. I my opinion SFC have not signed a decent experienced top class PL player for sometime apart from possibly KWP we sign inxperienced young players who are prone to make errors
  22. Very true but Broja is probably going to be a CL performer
  23. At the moment Armstrong is innefectual but Broja is not he may well become a decent player but at the moment surely you must see there are questions marks over him
  24. Although we have done well recently and relegation is very unlikely to happen the only consistent thing about SFC is their inconsistency Hoping for a decent performance but will be unsuprised if invidual errors leads to a result which I will not like Brentford lost because of their errors lets hope Wolves do the same
  25. We won because the players made few mistakes and played really well whereas Brentford did not
