Money is irrelevant, it's managers that matter

Yes I agree But would have Wenger say made a better job of managing them I wonder -

If you have no money you appoint rubbish I agree But Ted Bates was appointed from within , Lawrie Mac had no Div 1 experience like Sturrock and I cannot really remember Chris Nichol's experience. As I have said before it is very difficult to appoint the right manager and luck plays a part in getting someone in if Strachan had not failed at Coventry I wonder what would have happened to us -

I would really want Sturrock today though in Div 1. But picking a successful manager is very difficult I feel some of those who are successful this season will not be next and then sacked You mention Sturrock had no Premier experience but Pearson had little experience full stop but is thought to be a good manager. Sam Allardyce had a lot of Premier experience but was sacked through poor results at Newcastle. Getting the right mix and standard of players is the key I feel -
Yes just saw that Surely Davis will not stay one of the Championship's better goalkeepers

It is the Keane affect that is causing the large crowd according to My Ipswich Friend
-
I agree but will we be docked anymore points

An Ipswich Town supporter who is staying with us this weekend says that the meaningless fixture Ipswich v Coventry is attracting some 29000 spectators because of Roy Keane's involvement today. Apart from Shearer is there any other manager we could attract that would boost our attendance figures significantly next season.

Surely a City the size of Southampton will always have a football team

One memory I have of Lawrie was at the League Cup Final at Wembley when the teams were led out by the managers my brother said to me how smart Lawrie in his suit looked compared Brian Clough in his scruffy green top and red track suit bottoms. I also remember we always clapped him in the Milton Road end when he came out from the changing room But despite taking the lead we lost that day

Yes I forgot him as he has done OK in patches when available but then he is not that young

So why are people having a go at him. Alan Ball left us twice Mick Channon also left that is just life.

But Stands are named in memory of a person or event and his goal will be etched on my memory like Geoff Hurst last goal for ever

I dont think anybody could saying anything bad about Ted Bates and I dont really know what bad things have been said about Lawrie Mac. He did leave us in the lurch which of course Ted did not but that was twenty five years ago .

Well you live and you learn He must have like Blue as he was involved at both Ipswich and Birmingham City
-
Yes I agree but Thomas could be useful I would have thought at League 1 Level
-
Bobby Stokes ?
-
Yes that was before substitutes injured players often stayed on mostly on the wing in order to stop the full back going forward
-
Nobody else has a long enough run I would have thought apart from Surman and Lallana

I was thinking that too. But getting a couple of good strikers is going to be difficult I would have thought. -
Well cricket clubs manage it OK as I said
