But you can't make statements like he did without some substantiation, otherwise us cynics just interpret it as more spin -

Couldn't have put it better myself. It is a nasty, snidy little insinuation unless it is backed up with some more information. To me it is just another little snipe in the endless & pointless feud between the Lowies & the Crouchies, but it has the desired effect I guess as all those eager Lowe-bashers take it as conclusive proof that he is Satan himself. (PS please don't take this as pro-Lowe - I'm anti all of them on both sides of the fight) -
When has he ever said anything that was unequivocally positive btw it should be a pallid white flag, not a florid one

Sh1t happens - players leak, clubs leak, Harry Redflaps did nothing but. It's what happens in football

Funny that - I could have sworn i'd seen a squad containing all of the above come within twenty minutes of relegation last season

It never was admin v Saga It was as many as possible of our big earners v admin Skacel refused to go Nobody wanted Euell And the club tried hard to get them to go Thomas got crocked Presumably nobody wanted Davis or BWP or we didn't want to let them go (likely with Davis, unlikely with BWP, but his reputation is bigger than his ability) Offers were received for Saga, John & Rasiak, therefore they went If the first three had gone it is highly likely one or even two of our stikers would have stayed imo

I travel from east of the dark side - about a 70 mile round trip & I am proud (or possibly embarrassed) to admit that I have been to every home game
-
We are still up the creek, but as the moment for getting these players off the books has passed it would be very silly not to utilise them
-
It's not disgusting - not the nicest, maybe, but they all knew the score - the club couldn't afford to pay them, no-one else would match their ludicrous salaries so we had stand-off. The club could not effectively make them redundant because of the pay-offs so what recourse did they have. Financial necessity is all it was
-
You still don't get it, do you - the idiotic youth policy was window dressing to hide just how far up sh1tcreek we were. Even Crouch admitted he'd have done something similar
-
We were saying back before Christmas last season that even though we were upper mid-table there was something very shaky about that squad and a relegation fight was as likely as the play-offs. We won two or three home games - WBA, Cardiff & Blackpool spring to mind where we got damned lucky ( a far cry from this season at home) as well as getting turned over at Preston & Sheff Wed - and it was clear that all was not well. Burley had assembled a very highly paid & seriously undeperforming squad & he managed to escape in a nick of time because it was just waiting to unravel
-
1 We clearly had to reduce the wages and took any reasonable offers 2 I'm guessing but Pekhart, Robertson, Pearce, Cork & Gasmi were/are all having some or most of their wages paid by their parent clubs (Just as I fear we are paying part of John & Rasiak's wages) Smith, Pulis & Forecast are all on sod-all anyway & we do need a squad. Seijs I don't know 3 I don't know - maybe Schneiderlin was considered too good to miss as an investment (& Gasmi was a Bleidelis/Chala type) 4 Backroom staff are all on small wages 5 Attendances still are crap but ...? I reckon that Saga is back because a) no-one else would take him/pay his wages & that b) possibly the bank have relented short-term to help us (and them) beat the drop. I think we are still in the sh1t but it is obviously best for all concerned if we don't get relegated. Then again, maybe we have found a very shy benefactor
-
That last one must have been vying with Ali Dia in our long history of crap signings
-
Point one - we have, it's true, but most of those who mutter darkly about Lowe out at any cost to the club go very coy when pressed on the subject & Point two - the two fully paid up nutters in question need a little baiting for their relentless negativity & there are quite a few semi-nutters who also go very quiet (I don't include you in that category btw)
-
They weren't disgustingly treated. Football is a business, tough decisions have to be made - nobody on £10K a week can be disgustingly treated. And they were only treated that way in a desperate attempt to stop the club going under, not at any point for some personal vendetta
-
Who cares if they hate Wotte - I don't suppose anyone likes Warnock or Allardyce or Sir Alex or Wenger or even Harry. If he can get them playing, that's all that interests me
-
The interesting thing will be how many of our out of contract players a) want to stay, b) are prepared to take wacking pay cut & c) are wanted by the club Can someone remind whose contracts expire when
-
Just being negative all the time means you must be right sometimes. But it is such a boring, miserable way to live your life. I don't think anyone thought this season would be anything other than a long hard slog, but we were not wrong to want to believe in our youngsters and want to try something different after the sh1te we were served up last season. I accept fully that JP didn't work out - partly his obstinacy over formations, partly restrictions on players because of our financial plight & partly bad luck. BUT, I look at our team yesterday with 4 lads in it who never really had a chance last year who all acquitted themselves well & have all developed this season & still give me hope that it will work out OK

He replied to a similar tease from me - he's been busy, poor dear

Why didn't Wotte speak up earlier in the season?
sidthesquid replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Maybe Wotte kept saying 'play 4-4-2' and Jan kept refusing Maybe he said it to Rupert, too & Jan thought he went behind his back
