I don't recall a lot. What time did I actually arrive at the ground?!
-
Will it be about train journies back from away games?!
-
Apologies, as I left work at 2pm to get the train to Poole in time for the match. I hope any bets worked out OK. I was surprised at how comfortable Lakeside's victory over Swindon was, considering their patched up team.

The Tory hypocrisy is outstanding, but also is the fact that they are late to the party once again: why has it taken them so long to oppose a runway?! Tory past: Iraq war: Voted for it, now pretend they oppose it ID Cards: Vote for them, now party policy to oppose, in a ridiculous u-turn The economy: Would sit around and do nothing. Won't upset big business. 3rd runaway: A year after Lib Dems and Environmental lobbies were opposing this scheme, they finally decide to oppose it themselves: but Mayor Boris wants another London airport anyway. If anyone thinks that these muppets can run the country they are very much misguided.

Coventry is awful. The ground is in the middle of nowhere, with no pubs anywhere near it. It is probably my least favourite place in the country to watch football. It is a waste of a day out.

Elite League Semi-finals tonight: Poole v Ipswich Lakeside v Swindon Both live on Sky.

Because those are the rules. HTH.

Nope! As things stand I am attending this pub as it's the only one I know that exists. Also, the football menu looks good, and I will need to absorb all the alcohol I'll have consumed on the train up.

The last time Rupert caved in to popular demand from fickle fans and appointed a "strong, experienced British manager" we got H*rry Redc*nt. I very much hope he doesn't make the same mistake again.

It's a good job no-one accepted your offer of a lift! -
I have made a note of this pub, but looking at a map if it's 5/10 mins from the station, then it's definately more than 15 minutes to the ground!

If I can see the football through the alcohol fuelled haze then I'm sure it will be awesome.

Billy Davies is a c*nt and is not welcome here.
-
Didn't need to buy any as I have half a bottle of Gordon's. Also have half a bottle of vodka I could bring for the train journey.

I am going to spend the game shouting "Hatch! Hatch!" and then ducking immediately afterwards while trying to secretly spot who you are.* *This won't actually happen.

Doncaster Rovers play at the Keepmoat Stadiun. You are confusing yourself.

We don't have a player called Jake Thompson. HTH.

Train. 0730 from Bristol Temple Meads. Gets in to Donny at 1215. Got it for £22 return. I have had no thoughts, although I have been informed there is a Wethies by the train station which might be good to meet in. However, that won't have the Merseyside derby on.
-
I'm making the trip up to Donny. Disappointed we have to go to a soulless plastic bowl stadium, though.

Agreed. Poulter really responded to the challenge, and Casey was solid. The "big names" of Garcia, Westwood and Harrington didn't win a match between them. When that happens, what can you do? I think the final margin of victory was wider than deserved, but when the result was known then I think the last 3/4 games trailed off.

A year ago I'd have told you that no political party would back a return to standing. Now we have one. I'm sure clubs will be sceptical, but that doesn't mean they can't be convinced.
-
Everyone just calls them "wethies" anywho.

Apologies for the delay in getting this vital information to you, but it has been a busy week!! On Sunday afternoon Liberal Democrat members voted for the party to adopt a policy of a return to standing areas at football grounds. See here. I'm sure that (whether or not this single policy alone is enough to get you to vote Lib Dem - which is another matter) all of us who want to be allowed to stand up at football games without all the hassle are delighted that this debate has been re-ignited, and is now policy for one of the big three political parties in this country. The test now is to pressurise the other parties in to getting the message. Also Bradford City are backing the campaign, and perhaps the next step for us is to write/e-mail our club to ask for their thoughts. I recall Rupert in the past saying that he'd have no issue with it.

Actually, that isn't true at all. And the way the system works, despite the fact the Council got top marks in a number of categories, they got a black spot for finance, which is still a carry over from years of Labour. It may interest you to know that the Lib Dems run more city Councils than any other political party. Of course, you will pick the one with a small black mark next to it's name, but I do wonder how thorough your research is in: Newcastle, Sheffield, Watford, Burnley etc etc etc.
