I remember reading the Belenenses web site at the time and it definitely said 1.5 million euros. Sorry lads he really did cost that much and we didn't make anything on him at all. didn't lose much though so not a bad deal. If only Burley hadn't messed him about as a CD.

Bunch of nonces. And they wonder why no-one takes them seriously.
-
And going to the extent of not selling in round numbers to hide the fact? Everything is possible.
-
No we didn't. I don't know where you all keep getting your figures from. Pedro Pélé cost us 1.5 million euros when we bought him from Belenenses. From the annual account 2006. Since the end of account the team has been strengthened by 7 new arrivals for a total cost of 5.7 million £ Wright-Phillips,Davis,Pélé,Skacel,Viafara,Jermaine Wright,Idiakiez. As far as I know II and Wright were on "frees". BWP 750K (including 250 prize from coca Cola) Davis 1 million, Skacel 1.6 million,Viafara 1 million (or 900K) so that leaves 1.35 million for Pélé;As far as I know he cost 1/1.1 million so Jermaine Wright and II weren't as free as all that.

Well in that case a very principled person. However the time to have principles was a long time ago.Anyone stupid enough to wait until now can't be very bright. Nothing has changed since September or October and the person could have made far more from their gesture then.

What a mug to sell for 13.5p to be honest.I mean not everyone could afford 5000 odd shares. If he/she/they were that desperate for £900 there must have been another way of raising it.As it hasn't been announced that we're going into administration and we still have a chance of maintaining CCC status why sell shares at such a ridiculous price. That person/entity probably wets his pants if someone pops a crisp bag behind him/her.The time for selling SLH PLC shares is long past, you can only stick it out till the price goes up again now,if of course that ever happens..

terrible tactics from Brown, settled for a draw after about 65 minutes and relied on corners for any faint chance of a second goal; At least Spurs tried to do something. Modric is an awful player though.

Sounds like what military people call a "preemptive strike".And the basis of Israeli foreign policy for the last 50 odd years.

Will do, been there before.

Pied de Porc (pig's trotters) and Mashed Potato today; I think we're going to Corsica this year but you'd have to check that with my Mrs, I do not get involved, I am merely expected to arrange the appropriate time off from work.Which I forgot to do last year. .;);)

Isn't something supposed to be happening about administration about now? I'm sure this very forum assured me it was only last week.
-
I still don't know who he is.Don't bother to enlighten me though, I'm sure I can get by without knowing. All I know about the other one is that she slagged off Shilpa Shetty, whoever that might be. Still I'm sure they're not at all interested in what I have for lunch or where I take my holidays so I guess we're about even.
-
How do you come to that conclusion then?? As far as I know we bought him for 1.1 million and sold him for 900K
-
Schadenfreude actually but I know what you mean.
-
He got that right then.

Why can we suddenly afford to play Saga ?
Window Cleaner replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Well we have to pay him anyway so why not play him? other than that I don't understand the question. -
Could this possibly be "The end of a disastrous beginning"
Window Cleaner replied to cambsaint's topic in The Saints
the "plan" that I was referring to was more to do with radical cost slashing than anything else. After that it makes sense to play the players you have to pay anyway. Even though you begrudgingly admit that they're probably better than the academy kids originally proposed for the job. Pity he didn't just cut the crap and try Wotte first, perhaps Wotte refused to play with such a young side knowing it would end in failure, perhaps his hardness and caustic nature was adjudged too abrasive for the youngsters. -
Wayne Thomas plays right back as well doesn't he??

I'd call it highly likely. Total brinksmanship from a bloke who has dedicated his entire existence to being right and having the last word. -

Sacked ??? He needs to be bought out, same as last time round. If,and that's a consequent if, we do stay up his plan will be validated and we can expect a good few years of him yet, unless of course someone buys them all out. This is a watershed season, if we stay up and the clubs accounts are purified then we will be stuck with the bloke. -

It's a pity we can't get the old posts back from TSF, I don't remember Alpine being overly complimentary about Pearson . He certainly was very anti-Burley, in fact probably the anti Burley poster. Is there no way of looking back at TSF?? -
Don't think so. Last 2 at home 2005/6 22400 odd and 26700 odd First 2 at home 2006/7 21000 ish and 24000 ish.

If we win all the rest of our games 361 we wouldn't be too far off the play-offs. Not in them though, just outside. Realistically to stay up we need to win 6 out of our remaining 13, including the last day game against Forest and draw perhaps 3 others. It's still a tall task but by no means impossible. Our fate depends on Norwich and Forest and maybe on Plymouth if their decline carries on much longer.. I see us beating Cardiff next week and maybe moving up one place.Cardiff play today and again on Wednesday, they may well crack due to the umber of games in a short time. If we can get one early like yesterday they won't put up much of a fight.n

But John was kept on for 3 months or so, probably because we couldn't find anyone to take him but he WAS there...played some games, think he started messing us about with international games though and the order of the boot up the backside was accelerated. No doubt Watford would fall over themselves to send Rasiak back to us if there was a loophole, thankfully there isn't.

The maths is fundamentally flawed there Arizona, can you work out why?? Do we play 52 home games per year? is there no VAT? are there no 12.8% employers NHS contributions. When you do the math correctly it comes to just under 1300 extra fans per game. Would we get them ?? maybe, certainly if he was scoring as he is now.
