Unsurprising, saw the end of yesterday's game and they seem to have the same problem that we did at times last season, absolutely nothing at the sharp end. All succesful PL sides have one thing in common, a striker who scores even when the side is under the cosh. Possession means nothing if there's no end product. Did he try Kane yesterday ? I know Adebayor started and Soldado finished but Kane scored 3 for them midweek didn't he? I suppose it's the Thursday/Sunday rotation again.

Adkins seemed to be a nice guy and an OK manager but sooner or later if he wants to reallyy make something of his managerial career he may have to dump his side kick Crosby, not convinced by his ability at all.
-
Suarez mainly but you need to add in the 12 penalities last season and a bit of Sturridge, without any of those things they're basically a pile of ****e. Suarez what 31 goals last season, Sturridge 25, Penalties 12 (of which they scored 10 I think) take all that away and the result is the square root of not a lot.

Shaw,Lovren,Lallana,Lambert....all the same problem, if you don't have what makes them tick they won't err tick. Shaw was always way overpriced and Utd were stupid to pay that much for him, there was better for less as I've always said. Hyped up way beyond his level by the gutter press I suppose. They do like a thick as pigcrap boy makes good story.

Yep, just 5, Sunderland are joint second fewest with Chelsea and City, might not be a 5 all draw then. -

Bit of a trek from Yerevan to Southampton, probably only got back yesterday, might not play tomorrow methinks..well, on the bench then. -
Well at the last I read the CAF told them to firk right off and organise the tournament as planned.
-
Who knows, they're certainly not well placed in their qualifying pool just now, 2 draws and a defeat so far, lost to Cap Verde a while back and drew with Niger today, must have drawn with Mozambique as well. Don't think Mayuka even plays for them now, no doubt gets his call up each time but doesn't seem to make the pitch at all.

Saw a bit of the Senegal-Tunisia game on Sport+ this morning, Mané gets down his wing a lot and then is either offside (sometimes given wrongly though) or puts in a cross that leads to nothing, needs to work on that, if he can get it right on occasions then he'll be a real danger man.

However unlikely it may be, Fonte at Real is infinitely more probable than CR7 at Saints really.
-
Fonte is tomorrow, Pelle doesn't start and Senegal don't kick off for another couple of hours yet, must be playing at about 9pm their time, don't know why, perhaps it's too hot or something in Dakar.
-
Which probably means that Hodgson intended to start Stones at RB anyway, Clyne is just there for the ride. Keep telling you all, if you're not playing in Europe you are nobody.
-
Leaves them well short if he doesn't, Sakho is already injured although it was only for about 3 weeks a week ago. WC summer is really taking it's toll followed by Euro 2016 qualifiers straight away. Far too much international football with all the competitions going through group stages, straight knock out over 2 legs would be better, same as the Fa Cup but with seeding according to FIFA ranking.
-
Far too many international breaks just now anyway, players are dropping like flies during them, no doubt because they're too much influence of coaching staff who know relatively little about them and subject them to hazardous training regimes. As Oscar Wilde said, the only thing that is worse than not being called up for international duty is being called up for international duty. Still Saints seem to get away with it relatively well injury wise, soon will change I expect, with what 15 or 16 players on ID each time round the chances of not a single one getting injured must be decreasing each time round. And it gets worst for the Arse, in addition to Ozil getting injured for 10/12 weeks with the Germans Koscielny is now out with achilles tendon troubles (again). Wenger used to pull them all out in advance for no reason, you can see why now.

GUARDIAN: Sadio Mané leading the golden generation of Senegal

Might partially expalin why it took a while to get his international clearance through though, perhaps Salzburg lost their paperwork for a few days. -

Glad that someone else noticed that, was beginning to think I'd seen a game from a parallel universe or something. VW is cumbersome and clumsy, very poor in the air and a bad passer, still no doubt he runs around a lot and puts in crunching tackles from time to time. -

Just seen that Coates,Alvarez and Giacherini are all supposed to be injured and out for at least a month. Don't know exactly how they got injured though. -
GUARDIAN: Sadio Mané leading the golden generation of Senegal
Window Cleaner replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
No but seriously, there was a discussion on L'Equipe TV the other day where one of the pundits said that Morgan "was only playing for Southampton" and should be replaced by Kondogbia who was playing for a far better club viz the laughable Monaco, being second or third in the PL at this moment in time means nothing to these insular pundits, good player=big club, ie not Stoke or Saints or Wapping Town. Cabaye being just a bit part player at PSG is considered far better than being a 35 game a seasoner at Newcastle, some of these people are really blinkered. Why doesn't Shawcross ever get an England call up? Must be a better CB than Stones or Chambers tbh, probably because he plays for Stoke. -

As I've said many times before in the global footballing world we are perceived as minnows for whom any respectable player is too good. Anyway African football pundits are universally known for their jingoistic tub thumping in favour of their personal favourites...look at Mayuka..was supposed to be one of the worlds top 100 players, no doubt put there by african pundits with very limited vision..when Mané stops trying to be too personal and stops rolling about on the deck if someone breathes on him that will be an advance. -

Larsson probably, maybe some scots and other obscure nations as well. -
Far too early to make any realistic predictions, everything will depends on where we finish this season and how our "star" players come through it. Some of them could get injured or lose form, that would downgrade their desirability.

Same, but you have to watch out for the quality of some of the streams,if you're not careful you'll find yourself with a Kazakh brides catalogue flashing up about every thirty seconds or so from here to eternity. I use that system and go for firstevents, couple of french car adverts for 20 seconds or so and then you get uninterupted match for the rest of the afty. Nortonsafe picks up the dodgy ones in a flash but it's usually those that tell you that your media player needs updating, it doesn't as a rule, the MP update is loaded with bolloaks that you don't really want..unless of course you do fancy a bulgarian fiancée for about 30£.
-
Ah no, there's another round in November, might be just one match this time though, still be a week's break though. After that it's March.
-
Seen the gallery of training during international call ups ? More coaches than first team players, should think it would spur the few left behind to try to get an international spot next time round...November isn't it ?.
