  1. He'll need to learn to shoot first. Bales greatest asset at his debuts with us was his dead ball ability.
  2. That will be offset by the fact that Liverpool players form the nucleus of the side.
  3. Age does not count really, if you're at a top club you're expected to do the job whether you're 10 or 40. Bale has nothing whatsoever to do with it, he was a LB with us but Tottenham converted him into a MF because of his incredible acceleration. If Cole was playing regularly Shaw would not be in the England squad, I suspect Flannagan might well get in in front of him in the near future as well. Better player all round.
  4. MP is in fact favourite for the job with De Boer coming up on the rails again but at this moment the vacancy doesn't actually exist.
  5. Too expensive, some of the figures that have been bandied about (and go up by the day) are nonsensical. Anyone who honestly believes that anyone is going to give us 30 million for Shaw needs to get some reality tablets. There are left backs available who are equally as good as Shaw for 7 or 8 million, may be less. I'll give 2 starters for 10, Kurzawa and Riccardo Rodriguez, better players all round, a quarter of the price and probably half of the money (or less).....................
  6. And Bournemouth's share... That alone makes Lallana pretty unsaleable unless we're content to end up with not much of quite a lot.
  7. Depends whether you count Monaco in France really they play in the French league, Kurzawa is probably the best left back in France although some might tell you that it's the young Digne (but they're PSG supporters and their opinion certainly doesn't count, he never plays so how would they know that anyway).
  8. Told you so. We won't see him again, well unless it's for about 2 minutes of the Utd game to wave goodbye to his fans..or should that be fan.
  9. Morgan signed up when, last Febuary I think because he was out of contract last summer, didn't stop Real Sociedad bidding 16 miilion euros for him though, didn't want to go there and Cortese turned them down, it's no secret, he talked about it in one of his fairly frequent French press interviews . What is fairly noticeble is the candour that he has in his fairly frequent interviews, always says what he thinks about most things, rarely evasive. Don't see that from many other Saints players, perhaps those that give interviews to the foreign press that I've not seen perhaps.
  10. Media speculation will never stop, it's what they do. Should we up a players contractual terms they'll just say it's to screw more money out of potential buyers. Allowing players to negociate new contracts could also allow them to insert buy out clauses. I've no idea if any of our players have those but it may well be the case already.
  11. To me JWP is nowhere near good enough of late but I really don't see that we'll have much choice tomorrow, unless you fancy starting Guly of course because that's what it comes down to. The only other alternative is to do as I think I might have suggested on the odd occasion () and play Chambers in midfield in a 4-1-2-2-1 system with Vic as the anchor, Chambers and Cork in front f him and Davis and Lallana in front of them again. This willl not happen though.
  12. They're already all on long term deals, 3 years left at least 4 in some cases. The maximum length of contract is 5 years so there's no point in really tarting about to add 1 more year. The way to keep these core players is to persuade them that they'll be going forward with the club and that next season we'll be aiming for top 6, that means keeping Mauricio and adding decent players to the squad. Morgan spelt it out for us in the Echo 2 weeks back, it's what needs to happen and it no doubt will.
  13. Morgan isn't likely to miss, he is out with a really bad dead leg, given that he's already had serious problems with that sort of injury a couple of years ago (and remember the effect of a Guly lunge on Gaston) we might not see him again this season. Then again he's healed up pretty quickly of late so perhaps next week or at least for the Utd game. However given the number of players that actually remain available to us I really can't see any possibility of not starting Cork and Wanyama, perhaps not in their usual roles though. Of the first team core group we have about 15 players available I think so the rest of the bench will be neophytes. If we should be so unfortunate as to get a couple of knocks the side on the pitch will be innovative to say the least.
  14. Then again to be really specific he'd have to define the period in which there have been no enquiries or offers. I'm sure that we must have had at least 1 offer or enquiry in January.
  15. I am still not sure whether a player's agent can discuss a hypothetical move for that player to a club without having first cleared the possibility of that move with the actually club. You know like "if he wanted to move and his club were to be persuaded on it how much would you be willing to pay" sort of thing. Agents work in the periphery, maybe even with their client's specific knowledge.
  16. Ahh I see, it's not ones appraisal of the situation at the moment, ie right now in this specific interval of time. It's about ones general appreciation of the season past and those still to come. In that case I'll give a 7.5.
  17. In fact a double deal could be just the way to cut down radically on Bournemouth's share. 50 million for Shaw and 5 million for Lallana. Doubt if Bournemouth would be happy though, probably appeal.
  18. Got about 10 minutes again yesterday evening, didn't do much. Then again I thought Juventus were pretty poor on the whole as well. They are so slow and easily controlled. Then again I'm really not a big fan of Italian football.
  19. JRod weighs heavily on opposition defences, forces them into mistakes.
  20. Not better than 5/10 for me really, only because of the poor results and the lack of any real depth in the squad, the 2 being intrinsically linked of course. Thought we should have made 2 signings in January, a keeper and a striker and both are have been woefully lacking of late.
  21. It also defined Reed's current role, don't think that we'd had confirmation along those lines before.
  22. I'm sure he isn't. Mauricio said something about him at last week's pre-match, pretty sure it was something like doubtful for the rest of the season.
  23. Probably didn't want a repeat performance of recent pressers with the same old candidates obstinating on the same old questions. Far too many "done deal" rumours circulating recently which, exactly as I said yesterday, are totally contrary to recent club statements.
  24. According to L'Equipe Morgan has a dead leg, no doubt suffered in training yesterday or the day before. Strange that they had the info and were putting it about at 10.13 Paris time last night. That will be the 3rd Everton match out of 4 that he's missed, coincidence eh......
  25. Baseball was all about steroids and HGH I think, the more muscle you have the harder you can hit the ball...in theory at least. I think in the case of the "major English club" it was more about recreational drugs used by officials. Juventus FC had a major performance enhacing drug system in the 90s but as the drugs weren't on the banned list for football at that time only the administering doctor got any punishment.
